This Real Thing Called Love “Girlfriend to Girlfriend”

When I woke up this morning He was there and of course I was elated. Lately He has been staying all through the night .You see He use to visit only on Sundays or whenever I was in dire need or distress, but about two years ago He really started hanging around. He’d pop in just to ride to the grocery store with me or on a shopping spree for nothing more but to listen to the music while we rode, appreciate the words which praised the goodness of God. But for several months now He has become a constant companion. He pops in and out all through the day; checking to see if I am okay, enlightening me with His knowledge, wisdom and even His wit. Oh Yes, He can be very funny there are those that never see His humor but He can be hilarious, at least with me. He can say some of the most peculiar things and it really fits my personality and I understand fully where He is coming from. Now this could be because as long as I can remember I’ve overheard the elders in my family say “she’s always been a peculiar child”.

But anyway back to this morning when I woke up I was thinking about the “Women’s Mentoring Discussions” last night. I thought on how important and complicated it was for me to stay focused on God and what He was telling me to do and not become selfish. Yes, selfish girl, I just wanted to spend all my time with Him, just Him. Sure I still like to spend time with family, go to church and of course talk to my girls; but girl you know how it is when you fall madly in love! I just want Him somewhere around and if He is not around I am talking about Him. Of course this is great for those who have the same type of adoration for Him but was I missing my mark for my assignment for Christ’s edification to others that did not know Him; in my quest to preserve this love affair? I thought of the Holy Scripture in Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

I thought of how this abandonment to the sweetest love I know and staying in God’s Will is like we are walking on that little white line in the middle of the road, heel to toe, heel to toe, balancing ourselves as if we are some type of trapeze artist walking on a tight rope. Loving where you are so desperately because this kind of love is so strong and it took so long to find that you could just drink it up, because you are so afraid; because you know without it you would wither up and die. And girl as my heart began to beat profusely even of the thought of losing this feeling, this real thing called love, I felt His breathe on my ear. He softly whispered my name and then He did something peculiar He called me by the nickname given to me by my mother when she was especially pleased with me. He softly called out “Treasure, The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. Pay attention, my child, to what I say. Listen carefully. Don't lose sight of my words. Let them penetrate deep within your heart, for they bring life and radiant health to anyone who discovers their meaning.” (Proverbs 4)

And Sister-Girl as the words touched my ear they were inscribed in my heart I heard Him say…

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do”.

The word in me is the God in me

Proverbs 4
1 My children,* listen to me. Listen to your father's instruction. Pay attention and grow wise,
2 for I am giving you good guidance. Don't turn away from my teaching.
3 For I, too, was once my father's son, tenderly loved by my mother as an only child.
4 My father told me, "Take my words to heart. Follow my instructions and you will live.
5 Learn to be wise, and develop good judgment. Don't forget or turn away from my words.
6 Don't turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you.
7 Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do! And whatever else you do, get good judgment.
8 If you prize wisdom, she will exalt you. Embrace her and she will honor you.
9 She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown."
10 My child,* listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life.
11 I will teach you wisdom's ways and lead you in straight paths.
12 If you live a life guided by wisdom, you won't limp or stumble as you run.
13 Carry out my instructions; don't forsake them. Guard them, for they will lead you to a fulfilled life.
14 Do not do as the wicked do or follow the path of evildoers.
15 Avoid their haunts. Turn away and go somewhere else,
16 for evil people cannot sleep until they have done their evil deed for the day. They cannot rest unless they have caused someone to stumble.
17 They eat wickedness and drink violence!
18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like complete darkness. Those who follow it have no idea what they are stumbling over.
20 Pay attention, my child, to what I say. Listen carefully.
21 Don't lose sight of my words. Let them penetrate deep within your heart,
22 for they bring life and radiant health to anyone who discovers their meaning.
23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.*
24 Avoid all perverse talk; stay far from corrupt speech.
25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe.
27 Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
