Prophets were called watchmen because they basically functioned in the spirit realm in the same way as the literal
watchmen did in the natural. The natural watchmen were stationed at post on the walls, which gave them clear visibility
to watch for the coming of the king (Jesus) or other members of the nobility (the five-fold) so they could announce their
coming. They were also to look for enemies and any disorder arising within the city(church) or camp of Isreal.
These watchmen were trained to be able to distinguish the enemy from thier brethren. Only those with the best "vision"
and "judgment" were given these post. They had to be "accurate" in their discernment and could not be overly prone to
sound the alarm or to request that the gates be opened. If there were too many false alarms, the people would begin to
"disregard" them. If they were careless and allowed the enemy in, they could jeopardize the whole city (church).
There are many today who consider themselves watchmen who obviously are not called to that ministry....
Because the city of God is a picture of the church, the bride of christ (Rev 21:2), the watchman's role on the walls of the city would have to do with the church. This can conclude a local congregation or the church universal....
Isaiah 62:6-7 says that the function of these watchmen was not only guarding, but praying. I believe this is crucial
because most of our discernment will come in prayer....
In Eze 3:17, we see that the watchman was to hear from the lord and warn the people and this is where many who are
called to be watchmen depart from their course!! The watchman ministry is spiritual, and the place of true vision is in
the spiritual realm, which is entered through prayer, fasting, and worship. Prayer helps to purify what we see such as;
knowing the times (Isa 21:11-12).... As we move toward the end of this age, timing is critical in all we do. We need to
pray that the lord raise up the last day "sons of Issachar" men who understand the times, with knowledge of what to do.
(1 Chron 12:32) Because when we fail to see the timing of the Lord, our spiritual boundaries are blurred....
Here's something to ponder. (Hosea 4:6-7) we not only lack knowledge we also reject it and "God" not Debra, says because we reject knowledge, He will reject us and that's exactly what's going on in today's church....
"God wants our attention by any means necessary." Today's music is it God? are you absolutely sure? The economy failing, is it God? Do some research on your President to see what he really stands for, is it God? The
falling away, is it God? The prosperity messages, is it really God? Has judgement began in the house of God? You
be the judge....
