Week #1: Swag: The System (Kingdom of God)

2 Corinthians 5:20 (AMP)
So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

Tonight we gonna talk about your swag!!!

What is Swagg to you? [Audience Poll] (When I go home to NC, in my neighborhood in east Winston, I have to get my Swagger back)

Where does Swagg Come from? {Audience Poll}

Well tonight we want to define ''ourSwagg'' as an attitude that is un-wavered and undistracted because it's founded upon a proven principle.

Meaning that my swag is found in something or someone!
Swagger by dictionary reference is:
1. To walk or conduct oneself with an insolent or arrogant air; strut.
2. To brag; boast.
(Show Power Point:SwaggChronicles for each person)
- Kanye Gets his swag from His Fashion & Lyrics
- Beyonce Gets her swag from Her being a Diva (celebrated female singer)
- Lil Wayne gets his swag from Music & Just being Ugly
- Keisha Cole gets hers from her Hair & Rugged style & Down to earth Attitude
Those who we have deemed as people with Swagg have a certain flavor about them that really gets our attention or causes us to want to be like them or be in their company. Why because it’s just their swag right?!

Somebody say GET Your Swag UP!! – That our form of Amen during this series!

Remember we said that Swagg is an attitude about us. A confidence in what we’ve built our image on right?

Well we(The Kingdom of God) get our Swag from
1. Where We’re From
2. Who We know
3. What We can do

I. Where we are from

We’re not Normal!!!!
You see we are not normal…Someone turn to the other and say “You’re Not Normal”
- We’re not of this world
o John 17:16- They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world”
 When the Bible talks about the World- It can be traced back to a word that means “system”
• A System is coordination of events or a structure or method.
- 2 Systems:
o System of This World
o System of God-Kingdom of God
 God’s way of doing things
We’re from a different Kingdom
The Kingdoms:
- Kingdom of Heaven- Where God lives and rules
- Kingdom of God- God’s System- His way of doing things
o Matt 6:26-33
- Kingdom of Man- Mankind
o Daniel 4:25
- Kingdom of Darkness- Devil’s way of doing things

{Kingdom Background}
When a kingdom wants to colonize it’s self it looks for territory. When that territory is found they overthrow that territory to establish its own customs and concepts. This was to make the newly acquired territory, look and functions like the Kingdom that it has been taken over by. When the Kingdom overtakes the territory the first thing it does is takes the culture of that territory and banishes it, and they start teaching the people their kingdom customs, culture, and language so just in case the King decides to go over, he can feel right at home. In order to enforce this they send over a Governor to enforce the laws of The Kingdom.
We have a responsibility as citizens from a different Kingdom
1. Represent
a. We are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God
i. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (AMP) So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.
2. Radiate:
a. We are to let the world know that we are here whether that be through our talk or our walk.
i. Ephesians 5:8 AMP
ii. Matt 5:14,16 “ Ye are the Light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” 16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
3. Recruit:
a. Matt 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Ghost”
II. Who we know
1. I John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 and if we know that he hears us we have the petitions that we desire of him.
2. I admire the confidence that The First Family Has. Ivan is never sheepish when He walks up to the front and sits by his Mom or Pastor Lewis is never sheepish when they walk with Bishop or Dr. B because they have confidence in their relationship with their parents. We should have the same confidence in our relationship with God.
III. What we can do
1. Release our Faith
a. If you have faith a size of a mustard seed…., Matthew 17:20, Luke 11:6 mustard, the name of a plant which in oriental countries grows from a very small seed and attains to the height of a tree, 10 feet (3 m) and more; hence a very small quantity of a thing is likened to a mustard seed, and also a thing which grows to a remarkable size
2. Win the Fight
a. Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities (angels & demons), against powers, against the rulers (the devil and his demons) of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]”…
{Closing: 300}:
August 480 BC: Leonidas (leader of The Spartans) set out to meet Xerxes' army at Thermopylae (Literally: the Hot Gates), where he was joined by forces from other Greek city-states, who put themselves under his command to form an army between 4,000 and 7,000 strong. They go against the Persians, led by Xerxes, estimated between 80,000 and 290,000 men-at-arms. Xerxes waited 4 days to attack, hoping the Greeks would disperse. Finally, on the 5th day they attacked. Leonidas and his men repulsed the Persians' frontal attacks for the fifth and sixth days, killing roughly 20,000 of the enemy troops and losing about 2,500 of their own. The Persian elite unit known to the Greeks as "the Immortals" was held back, and two of Xerxes' brothers died in battle. Leonidas sent away all Greek troops and remained in the pass with his 300 Spartans, 900 Helots, and 700 Thespians who refused to leave. There is a scene where Leonidas along with 300 men go to fight the largest army in history at the Battle of Thermopylae. Along the way the Spartans run into a group of Arcadians who heard about the fight and wanted to help. The Arcadians want to go to battle along side the Spartans but, they are disappointed when Leonidas meets them with only 300 men. The leader of the Arcadians asks Leonidas why he brought so few men. Leonidas asks some of the Arcadians what their ''professions'' were, some replied Potter, Blacksmth, Carpenter. Leonidas then turns to his 300 soilders and screams SPARTANS WHAT'S YOUR PROFESSION?!!!! The 300 roar ''ROO ROO ROO'' Leonidas smartly replied to the Arcadian leader, ''You see I brought more soilders than you did!'”
This story shows the confidence that the 300 had in their own ability, and this is the way we in the Kingdom should operate!
Judges 6:11 – 12 “Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which [was] in Ophrah (this is the verse where Oprah gets her name), which [belonged] to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide [it] from the Midianites., And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD [is] with you, you mighty man of valor!” Judges 7:7 “And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand: and let all the [other] people go every man unto his place.”
We should have our swag turned on 5000 because of what we can do; Phillipians 4:13 ''I can do ALL things Through Chist which strengthens me!
It's not based on your ability, but it's based on God's ability! The word says that Greater is He in Me than he who is on thge world, I have a living God down on the inside of me, He's given His angels charge over me, He surrounds me with Love, Grace, and Favor, why should I walk around defeated? But it takes a relationship with Him!
