 The Truth About our Savior, Jesus Christ

No other man, born of a woman, has gathered around His claims and character such a large amount of literature as Jesus Christ.  The Apostle John made the statement that "the world could not contain the books that should be written" about His accomplishments (John 21:24,25).  Libraries all over the world contain a mountain of books that been written of Him who came as -

  • The promised Messiah and Savior of the world;
  • The Founder of Christianity;
  • The Lord and Head of the Christian Church;
  • The complete Revelation of God to man.

Theologians, philosophers and poets have written about Christ, one way or the other, often forgetting that our concept of Him cannot be over-estimated because what He is determines what Christianity is., which stands or falls with Him.  In all that He is, in Himself, the cornerstone of the Christian faith, the key to the battle between faith and unbelief.

Death in sin carries with it dismal effects.  The wages of sin is death even "the second death" (Revelation 21:8).  Sin has shame for its companion in life, and hell for its wages thereafter.  Yet there is a negligence of witness to this sterner side of the Gospel. We fear that too many dwell exclusively upon the goodness of God, forgetting that goodness and severity are His twin attributes.  Those who are eternally lost will suffer no more for their sins than Christ endured when He died for sin.

Future retribution is only alluded to: eternal punishment almost never taught in the pulpit today - to the honor of the pulpit and the honor of God, be it said.  As hell is still in the Bible, is it not to the dishonor of pulpits if they deny such a truth?  Silence as to "the weeping and gnashing of teeth" Jesus spoke of (Matthew 25:30) does more to populate hell than the blashemies of Tom Paine and Robert Ingersoll combined.  Jesus possessed the tenderest heart that ever throbbed in a human breast, yet He constantly alluded to the certain, terrible and unending suffering of those who died lost.  He taught eternal punishment with a boldness, plainness and awful significance no human preacher dare imitate unless he has a Calvary heart for the unsaved.

Chapter 1 of “God‘s Ultimate Weapon DVD” - coming November, 2012:

A basic factor leading to the decline of spiritual discernment in the church is a widespread failure to interpret Scripture properly.  Hermeneutics - Bible interpretation is an exacting science.  Good preaching depends on careful hermeneutics.  But too many preachers in today’s church ignore the meaning of Scripture altogether.  Pulpits are filled with preachers who are unwilling to do the hard work necessary to interpret Scripture properly.  They pad their messages with stories, anecdotes, and clever outlines - all of which disguises the weakness or lack of biblical content.

Certainly application is crucial, but careful interpretation must always come first.  To attempt to apply the word without understanding is sheer stupidity.  Unfortunately, the standard has sunk so low today that even well-known Christian leaders can twist Scripture beyond recognition, yet no one seems to notice.

Bible interpretation is a skill that requires diligent work, an understanding of the meaning of the original languages, a working knowledge of grammar and logic, a grasp of the historical settings, competence in theology, and a broad understanding of the whole of Scripture.  Those who lack expertise in Greek and Hebrew must be all the more careful, checking commentaries, dictionaries and other study helps to analyze the text as carefully as possible.

One man who pastors a church of several thousand people recently preached a message on Acts 26:2, Paul’s defense before Agrippa.  Paul said, “I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews.”  This man pulled out the phrase “I think myself happy” and preached a sermon the importance of positive thinking in the midst of adversity!  But Paul was not telling Agrippa anything about positive thinking; he was saying, “I consider myself fortunate (NASB) to be able to make a defense.  That preacher had corrupted the intent of Paul’s inspired words because he was using the verse out of context to teach an unbiblical doctrine.

The person who is not a diligent student cannot be an accurate interpreter of God’s Word.  Scripture indicates that such a person is not approved by God and should be ashamed of himself (2 Timothy 2:15).

DEAREST FRIEND

WELCOME TO BPN

may we experience Father as never before as we get into His presence, first to repent, and allow Him to change, restore, instruct, confirm, and take us deeper into the revelation of His Word, to show us His secret treasures." In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble." Prov. 15:6 KJV God wants to take us from our comfort zone and bestow upon us much more to advance the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This can only be done when we totally surrender the flesh, all of it, every member; not with mere words. "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." 1st Corinthians 12:12 NIV  MAY I BECOME YOUR FRIEND?

YOURS IN CHRIST ,
