hello there Pastor Neal. I grew up in AME church in Waterloo, Iowa

Dr. Jackson was definitely my first real preaching/pastoring mentor. He gave me the chance to see & experience pastoring as an 18 year old right out of high school and exposed me to so many pastors in the state of Louisiana. I enjoyed coming to New Iberia to preach at Star Pilgrim for their 6:30 am worship...That was unreal to me until standing room only became the norm around there...LOL...at 6:30am...!!!!

Pastor thank you for your reply to my little posting. I am a native of south central louisiana. I grew up in the plaisance/opelousas./ville platte area. The church where I served as pastoral assistant in plaisance during early schooling years was pastored by Dr. Cyrus V. Jackson who was also pastor of Star Pilgrim in New Iberia.

Pastor Neal, thank you for being my friend. I see we know/share admiration for some of the same people. With both joy and a tear, I bring news that Rev. Dr. Ella Pearson Mitchell, wife and ministry partner of Rev. Dr. Henry Mitchell made her transition of Thursday, November 20 at age 91.

"Grandma Ella" sowed seeds of wisdom into my life and ministry nearly 30 years ago. Over the years I've counted it a privilege whenever I was in her presence.

Her homegoing celebration will be in Atlanta beginning Monday evening, December 1. The Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held in the Horizon Sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. GA.

Please lift up her husband, children, and other loved ones in prayer.
