Our omnipotent God has foreordained and dispensed to every generation its throng of world changers and history makers. The 21st Century is no different. Unto us a child was born! Unto us a son was given! His name was called Geoffrey, meaning “God’s Peace”. Chosen in God, before the foundation of the world, he stepped out of eternity into time on April 24, 1954 in the coolness of a southern spring morning in Memphis, Tennessee. Heaven would soon invade his childhood and bring him to the foot of the cross; Geoffrey experienced the unforgettable miracle of the new birth, by receiving Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, Tuesday night August 9, 1966. The child grew and became a man. That is, a man with a mandate, a man called of God to minister, a minister with a ministry and a ministry with a mission.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, a consummate Ambassador for Christ, Kingdom-builder, multi-gifted man of God, resolute man of destiny, Geoffrey Leon Becton.

He is the founding Pastor and Executive Director of Zoe Ministries International Church Inc, a 501c3 sanctioned organization. ZMI is a multi-faceted church with over 30 ministry components designed by the King of kings and Lord of lords to “Change the Quality of Life in Our Generation” through the preaching, teaching and demonstration of the Gospel Jesus Christ; beginning right here in Memphis, Tennessee and extending to the nations, of this world. Just like the Apostle Paul, Geoffrey is resolute in his position, that he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is (exclusively) the matchless power of God unto salvation.

As fore stated, Geoffrey is a native Memphian. He received all of his formal educational training in the Shelby County School System. He is a 1972 graduate of Bartlett High School. His aspirations to play professional baseball led him to Grambling State University, Grambling, Louisiana his freshman year of college (fall of 1972). However divine appointment re-routed him to Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in his sophomore year (1973). After a stellar performance his first year at Stillman, “Bec” as his coach (Richard Cosby) and his teammates endeared him, was honored as “Rookie of the Year”. In the process, he organized the first Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chapter at Stillman College, under the tutelage of his Advisor, Dr. Betty Smith.

All signs of a Major League career were unfolding, but once again the Almighty stepped in and re-routed him from the majors to the ministry. It was in the spring of 1975, “another perfect day for inter-collegiate baseball” Stillman vs. Montevallo University, Not quite! As Geoffrey stepped to the plate in the first inning so did God. It was right there, at the point of his passion, at the zenith of his game, that God spoke, and said “You will not play professional baseball, for I have called you to the ministry”, and as the old saying goes “the rest is history.”

Geoffrey continued his spiritual maturation in the classical setting of the traditional Baptist Church at Bush Grove M.B.C. -Pastor Samuel Becton. In May of 1979, Geoffrey accepted the calling of God in to the ministry and almost a year later founded and organized Abundant Life Missionary Baptist Church.

After years of struggling with the traditions of organized church religion, Geoffrey stepped in faith and organized Abundant Life Ministries (aka) Zoe Ministries International. Geoffrey is a gifted Apostle, Pastor, Teacher, and Biblical Counselor. He is a visionary leader, impassioned and tenaciously focused on fulfilling the Zoe Vision and its historical impact on this dispensation of time.

Geoffrey is a 1976 graduate of Stillman College, a Presbyterian school in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he received a B. A. degree in Sociology. He is a former Tennessee State Government Employee with 24 years of experience, as a social worker. In 1996, Geoffrey responded to the call of God to establish other new churches and headed west to plant the “Church of Zoe Fellowship” in Long Beach, Ca. On May 30, 1999, he was ordained an Apostle of Jesus Christ by Apostle Benjamin Smith-Miracle Temple Ministries. He is the executive producer of three (3) television programs, a radio broadcast and two (2)television talk shows; “Impacting our Generation” and “The Kingdom Perspective.” Geoffrey is presently a graduate student at Trinity College of the Bible and Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana; he is studying toward a doctorate degree in Biblical Counseling (projected to receive his master’s degree in December.) However, he is already a competent and proven counselor with substantiated results. ZMI, Memphis, and the world have a relevant minister with a relevant message for the 21st Century. Geoffrey is certain that biblical counseling is the answer to the greatest challenges of this directionless generation.

As for this agent of change, all roads lead to the culmination of his earthly ordination which is the “City of Zoe”. . . the zenith of the Zoe Ministries International Church Inc vision.
