In a day when people are now coming into the church and assaulting leaders, is there a need for security or self-defense training for the leaders in your church?

What security measures has your church taken (if any)??

Guns to do what, protect the pastor?
Scott, I'm not sure,

All I know is if you allow empty guns in the church... somehow they won't stay empty... (wink)
2 Corinthians 10:4
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
I'm glad to see you and I EW have the same Bible..Also when its your appointed time to die, its your appointed time. Carrying a gun doesn't any more secure your life than not having one. Presidents have been killed with sharp shooters and Secret Service all around them with the most hi tech weapontry available.

Naww, ain't going to go there with ya Scott, THIS TIME! LOL I'LL just wait........
I'm patient...:) *cheesin'*
Brother Scott,
Church folk are not trusting GOD and unbelievers have lost respect for church folk. If the people had something to respect, I think maybe we wouldn't see these types of crimes. I think there is a difference in dying for the sake of the gospel and someone getting even because the church has hurt them.

I am not saying this is the case with all, but some are coming after these pastors for other reasons. We can all fill in the blanks as to why there is a rise in violence against church leaders. It would be nice to think that everyone is dying for the sake of the gospel, but we all know this isn't the case.
EW... you made a very accurate statement here:

some are coming after these pastors for other reasons

The news is littered with people coming after pastors ... but NOT for the sake of the gospel.

What happens when you are killed for.. unrighteousness?

Albeit, I did see a video where a man came up to the prayer line and cold-cocked the pastor. I posted it on my page in the video section.
Tracy said: What happens when you are killed for.. unrighteousness?

Tracy if any Christian is murdered for an unrighteous act (not killed in an accident) it is quite possible that God has allowed his judgment. One of my husband's best friends is a Detroit police officer. He told my husband of a minister who had personally decided he was going to cheat on his wife so that he could leave her for the cause of adultery.

This minister went to a singles bar one evening and was shot dead before he could even hook up with another chick. It seemed as though God judged this man before he could do what he set out to do.
This leads to another question.... if we (Believers) don't believe we should carry weapons to church... what do we say to those Belivers who have weapons in their homes?
I have never understood why a believer would have a weapon in their home for protection, I know some have a fancy for arsenal and may be collecters.

I like to point out that many come against pastors because they preach the truth, COGICs own Bishop Gilbert Patterson, in his early years was shot at because he preached against "shacking" it touched a young woman's heart in the congregation and she left her live in, at this the young man, became infuriated and attacked Bishop as he came out of his church.

This same young man marched up the aisle and gave his life to Christ and asked for Bishop's forgiveness. I'm old enough to hear of many accounts like these. We must not always focus on the negative that is of the devil. There are many pastors doing the job God called them to do, and they are not immune to persecution, no more than John the Baptist was, when he lost his head over preaching the truth, "King you should not be married to your brothers wife"
