And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise,
and heard unspeakable words, which it is NOT LAWFUL FOR A MAN TO UTTER.

*********************************************************************************************************

And what law would that be?
Would that be the Written Law or the Oral Law?
Has anyone come across what the apostle could be referring to?

"read more of the book. one verse can not give you understanding"

Do you know the answer to the question?
In the time period of this verse it was unlawful to teach the Gentiles the word of God. That is the law that was unlawful for a man to utter. The man he said that he knew was an angel. The protocol of God is that the Father gave the word to Jesus, and Jesus gave it to the angel, and the angel gave it to Israel, and Israel at this time was to give it to Israel, and not the gentiles. Jesus said go not in the way of the Gentiles, but to the lost sheep of Israel.
But this was after the Cross. How could teaching gentiles be unlawful. Paul was sent to the gentiles.
Not only that - Paul makes a statement about the gentiles being read the law every Sabbath.
I am not sure exactly what the wording is but I will pull it up and post the exact scripture.

But he said it was unlawful for 'A MAN' not gentile man.
Remeber that the Jews did not Believe Jesus to be the Messiah, so they kept on after Jesus's death keeping the animal sacrifce law. etc.
Whahhhh?
Paul was speaking to the church (believers). Their backgrounds were Jewish and gentile.
You are talking about 2Corinthians 12:4

It was an unlawful thing to teach the gentiles.

Do you want me to put those scriptures too.
So you are saying Paul was telling the congregation that he saw things that were going on in heaven that only Jews were only allowed to hear from Paul?

I thought there was something written or in the oral law that said what you hear in heaven dont say. You know what - NEVER MIND.

I think it was like when John had the vision in the Book of Revelation and the angel told him to seal it up.

I think it was another prophet in the OT that was instructed to not tell all was in his vision as well.
I will look it up.
This is from the imagination of your heart. I didn't say any of those things.
Acts 9:16
I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."

Why do you say it is related? How? Maybe it is but how?

The Greek word being translated "lawful" is ἔξεστι [exesti]. It is often used in scripture to signify accordance to Mosaic law [e.g., Matt. 12:4], or to Roman statute [e.g., John 18:31]. But sometimes it is used as an idiom generally meaning "permissible" or "acceptable." This is how it is used in Acts 21:37:

And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May [exesti] I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek? [KJV]

Interestingly, other translators of the bible concluded that in 2 Corinthians 12:4 exesti should be understood to have this idiomatic sense:

That he was caught up into paradise, and heard secret words, which it is not granted to man to utter. [Douay-Rheims]
...and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. [ESV]
...was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. [NASB]
