Most Black churches have one thing in common, NO MEN! I have heard black pastor’s talk about how much more cooperative women are than men are when leading them. I think this is an excuse to not have to deal with the strong personalities of men. Men are born to lead and deal with problems. Many pastors are insecure and don’t like having strong men in their churches, and that is why their churches are dying! David led Israel primarily due to the fact that he had a forum of Mighty Men! In David’s later years he wrote a chapter of appreciation about the exploits of these men. No great leader can really be great without great MEN following them and also leading WITH them, Moses had Joshua to assist him, and Joshua was NO PUNK! He was a strong man of faith himself! Moses didn’t act intimidated by the fact that Joshua was a mighty man of God, Moses appreciated it! The main reason the Nation of Islam is so appealing to Black men is that is speaks to what men appreciate…STRENGTH! Black pastors WAKE UP and realize you need strong men to HELP you lead! There are too many limp wristed men in our churches! It is no wonder our sisters are facing a crisis in the area of finding a husband! A man must be discipled to not only grow in Christ, but grow as a leader in the body.

AMEN TO THAT! It's a new day today! WE HAVE TO BE BOLD IN CHRIST! Even if that boldness has to address those who are taring us down! I love the Ministers of God who has not forgotten who they work for!So many of us come from broken homes and single parent homes! You're not helping that by promoting more of it! I thought the Minister was someone who imitated God! God doesn't advocate divorce he promotes love! He doesn't advocate material love he advocate a mutual love that is not filled with arrogance and pride! People need to learn how to love according to the way the Bible teaches Love! Our relationships are falling apart because people are trying to love in a selfish way, a material way, and in an external way! You're going to teach them Hip-Hop's version of Love or you're going to teach them the Biblical version of love! I am not here to teach an old Dog new tricks, but I am here to make sure that old Dog doesn't sink his teeth into my Wife and daughters, sons and sisters! I follow a Moses kind of Minister, so I have no problem telling the Pharasees and the Suducees in the pulpit to back off!
Your message was designed to get that collection plate around to your congregation Brother Watson. We don't even have a collection plate at my church. The House of Jacob.
There are many reasons why black me don't go to church, and the fault lies withing the pastors.

#1) Pastors love to take "Titles" which our Messiah forbid. Where do we find any of the Apostles taking titles? None of them were called "Reverend", that name belongs ONLY to our Creator!

Even the Apostles didn't preface their name with "Apostle", nor did anyone preface their name with Evangelist or Prophet. This system of man made "titles" sets up a "two tier" system, the "man in the pew" being on the lowest tier.

2) Many pastors speak very condescendingly to their members, like "Yall not ready for this truth" or "The Lord told me", which also enlarges the gulf between the man in the pulpit and those in the pew.

3) The typical man in the pew is very ignorant about his Bible, and FEW pastors in this day of the internet have shown their congregations how to study the Bible for themselves. The pastors appear to not want their members to study the Bible in depth apart from what they want to spoon feed them from the pulpit. Only one pastor here on BPN lists in his intro the study tools every man person should have in their personal library.

4) Most pastors actually run the church as though it is "their kingdom" and the members are their servants! The "brown nosers" are the ones who get accolades from the pastor.
The Pastor's wife (althought she may be Biblically illiterate, is treated almost like she is a Queen! Where in the Bible do you find support for the Pastor's anniversary, and all these days that church members run around like chickens with their heads cut off to bring monies, gifts to throw at the feet of the pastor and his wife. Did Jesus set up such a custom?

5) Pastors have no Biblical authority to ask members for a tithe. Jesus nor the apostles asked for tithes from the people. Your asking for tithes is actually stealing from your members. Many men who may have trouble supporting their families cannot afford to tithe, especially in this time in which we live.

6) Those who do accept the tithes of members, where is the portion that is to go to the widows of your church? Please check all the text regarding tithes and you will see that the tithe went to the Levite (which you are not, this is why you don't qualify for a tithe) widow, orphan stranger. If you were handling the tithe SCRIPTURALLY, the widows in your church would not be asked to TITHE, and qualified single mothers who cannot support their families would be getting part of the tithe. You preachers who promote the tithing system in your congregation, go read your Bible and admit you have been wrong about asking for tithes.

7) Where are the Black christian schools which would teach Biblical values to our children, whether they are in our church or not? Schools in our churches could change the crime rate in our communities by instilling Biblical values in the youth.

8) Pastors ask yourselves what impact are you making on the community. Do men in your area see the value of your ministry other than to build a bigger church for yourselves? Is the crime or poverty rate declining as you become more prosperous?

I could continue, but you pastors are the problem. and you are going to have to look at how the customs you are promoting to aggrandize yourselves, to finance your own programs with tithes, rather than to give it back to people who the Bible designates to recieve it, are detrimental to the growth of your churches.
Mark:

The Bible ever tells Black men to be in church on Sunday morning..... If you pastors think it does, please give us the book, chapter and verse.

If you are teaching that from the pulpit, you need to tell the congregation you are wrong and that the Bible does not teach Sunday sanctity!

The Bible commands a "holy convocation" on the weekly Sabbath not Sunday...

So why should Black men be in church on Sunday morning? Because you pastors say so??

It was the old Roman. antisemitic church which "legislated" the transferred the day of worship from Sabbath to Sunday. You pastors that don't know that need to go back and study church history.

The Black men who are not in church on Sunday morning might ask,

"Where are Black Pastors (if they don't have church) doing on Sunday afternoon?

Are these pastors "keeping Sunday holy"? Or are you watching a football, basketball game doing your own thing? Is their some "mystic" quality to "Sunday morning" which disappears "Sunday afternoon"?

Why must 1/2 of the day be devoted to "The Lord" and the rest of the day is to be used at your personal discretion? Such inconsistency!
AMEN!!!!!!!!!! Great Posts!!!! SIster Ana has understanding and wisdom from the true and living God.
Typo correction to my previous post:

The Bible ever, (should have written "the Bible NEVER) tells Black men to be in church on Sunday morning....."

I agree! Even when we turn on the television and watch sitcoms and other shows on television it is visible! The Men on those shows act like idiots! They are portrayed as being the equivalent of their children and the Wife/Mother is portrayed as the source of common sense and adulthood! The parent who has the final say! The parent who runs the household while that idiot she married sits around pondering sex and playing like a Child! His mind can't think beyond sports and electronic toys! He has to ask permission to spend his own Money while the Wife/Mother is portrayed as one who rules the financing and can go on shopping sprees as often as she chooses! The Husband/ Father has to hide food and sweets all over the house or he'll get in trouble if his Wife/Mother finds out! What imagery does this portray to our kids? If they go to Church and see Daddy being treated in the same mentality, what is their perception of Daddy? I'll tell you. "We better ask Moma if we can have some money and go to the store because Daddy has no say so over her!"
Mark:

Have you ever read this text:

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Pet. 3:15

This text requires you to answer questions that are asked of you. Too often you start a blog here on BPN, and when the questions get too tough for you to answer, you disappear, delete the blog or refuse to answer the questions posed. It must be that you are too used to people who are Bible illiterates, who post no threat to your theology. Biblically you owe me answers to my questions.

I have asked you to show me where either our Messiah or His apostles or anyone in the "NT" church commanded that believers go to church on Sunday, specifically "Sunday Morning" as is mentioned in the title of this blog.

I presented to you the text of Matt. 28:19 - 23 asking how you could obey Messiah in "teaching whatsoever HE commanded" and teach a necessity to "go to church on Sunday" someting that HE never taught?

Additionally I asked you how you could disparage those keeping the Sabbath and encouraging others to do so, based on your interpretation of Col 2:14 - 16, while you take it upon yourself to condemn men for not being in church on Sunday, for which there is NO scriptural commandment?

I will await your answers.
Well, I don't know about you, I'm in Church EVERY SUNDAY without fail! My mama taught me better than that....
Your mama taught you wrong.
