ACCEPTING CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR - What scripture is that?

This modern tradition of telling people they are saved if they ACCEPT JESUS as their personal saviour is ridiculous.

Hahahahah! - now tell me WHY I am wrong.

Newview,

Well, there's no such thing as "NT believers." But, when one repents, he is to be baptised.... symbolizing that his sins have been washed away by his turning from them.

In whose name do they have to be baptized in?
Newview,

In the name of YAHUSHUA
"...In the name of YAHUSHUA"

Whew!
That was like pulling teeth.
Say it over and over and over and over.
Repent and be baptized - People
"So NOW the question is - are the people - that are sent home after 'accepting Jesus as their personal savior' - even saved?"

This is why it is called a personal relationship: If the scripture states to "confess with your mouth and believe in your heart and thou shalt be saved" the belief factor is the thing that has peope having conversations like this. You cant physically see what is going on in the heart of a person, you see the confession and now everybodies up tight wondering if it was genuine. That really aint none of our business it's between that person and God. Sure evidence will begin to show forth for the converted, but is it our job to wonder if they truly believed or is it our job to lead people to the water? You cant make them drink but you can tell them everything they need to do inorder to drink but at some point it comes down to them and God.

And now I'm really going back. Have fun repeating yourselves!
Rev,

In Hebraic understanding, simple confession and belief means nothing. And it means nothing to Yah & Yahushua. Your confession and belief MUST be carried out by your obedience, which confirms your confession and belief. No obedience, then your confession and belief are false and in vain.
"...That really aint none of our business it's between that person and God..."

Wow.
It might not be MY business but it is the business of those that watch over the souls of the saints. The elders in the church are there for a reason.
If you are saying it is NO ONE'S business - then why did Paul ask the group of BELIEVERS had they ever been baptized?
So here you have a bunch of people that ALREADY BELIEVED in Jesus for their salvation and they were being asked about baptism.
Why is that?
Your question is quite dumb-founded and you are also... Scripture??? I see you have not been born-again (awakened by His lovely Holy Spirit or The Fire of His Presence) There is no need for scripture, it is called REVELATION grounded by scripture... REVELATION and thats something a non spirit-filled, walking dead has. You must first be born of YAH spirit. So take your twisted mind somewhere-else where you and evil can rest forever... Why you kind is always askong for scripture. Is you name in scripture??? Hmmm??? but you are a living being right??? you are very twisted in your heart and soul...

Mikael,

I like you....you're sassy.
Kookey but sassy...so tell me how is one to have their sins remitted.
And you dont have to use scriptures - because we know scriptures are forever getting in the way of salvation.
You share with the board how man is to have his sins remitted - step by step.
What does it mean to accept Jesus as your personal Savior?

To properly understand this question, you must first understand the terms "Jesus Christ," "personal," and "Savior."

Who is Jesus Christ? Many people will acknowledge Jesus Christ as a good man, a great teacher, or even a prophet of God. These things are definitely true of Jesus, but they do not fully define who He truly is. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God in the flesh, God in human form (see John 1:1, 14). God came to earth to teach us, heal us, correct us, forgive us—and die for us! Jesus Christ is God, the Creator, the sovereign Lord. Have you accepted this Jesus?

What is a Savior, and why do we need a Savior? The Bible tells us that we have all sinned; we have all committed evil acts (Romans 3:10-18). As a result of our sin, we deserve God's anger and judgment. The only just punishment for sins committed against an infinite and eternal God is an infinite punishment (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:11-15). That is why we need a Savior!

Jesus Christ came to earth and died in our place. Jesus' death was an infinite payment for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8). Jesus paid the price so that we would not have to. Jesus' resurrection from the dead proved that His death was sufficient to pay the penalty for our sins. That is why Jesus is the one and only Savior (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)! Are you trusting in Jesus as your Savior?

Is Jesus your “personal” Savior? Many people view Christianity as attending church, performing rituals, and/or not committing certain sins. That is not Christianity. True Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior means placing your own personal faith and trust in Him. No one is saved by the faith of others. No one is forgiven by doing certain deeds. The only way to be saved is to personally accept Jesus as your Savior, trusting in His death as the payment for your sins and His resurrection as your guarantee of eternal life (John 3:16). Is Jesus personally your Savior?

If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, say the following words to God. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. Only believing in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross for you can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation. “God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve punishment. But I believe Jesus Christ took the punishment I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I receive Your offer of forgiveness and place my trust in You for salvation. I accept Jesus as my personal Savior! Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness—the gift of eternal life! Amen!”

Let's take it a step further. . .Do you know what it means to have a personal relationship with God?

Having a personal relationship with God begins the moment we realize our need for Him, admit we are sinners, and in faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior. God, our heavenly Father, has always desired to be close to us, to have a relationship with us. Before Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis chapter 3), both he and Eve knew God on an intimate, personal level. They walked with Him in the Garden and talked directly to Him. Due to the sin of man, we became separated and disconnected from God.

What many people do not know, realize, or care about, is that Jesus gave us the most amazing gift—the opportunity to spend eternity with God if we trust in Him. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). God became a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ to take on our sin, be killed, and then be raised to life again, proving His victory over sin and death. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). If we accept this gift, we have become acceptable to God and can have a relationship with Him.

Having a personal relationship with God means we should include God in our daily lives. We should pray to Him, read His word, and meditate on verses in an effort to get to know Him better. We should pray for wisdom (James 1:5), which is the most valuable asset we could ever have. We should take our requests to Him, asking in Jesus' name (John 15:16). Jesus is the one who loves us enough to give His life for us (Romans 5:8), and He is the one who bridged the gap between us and God.

The Holy Spirit has been given to us as our Counselor. “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17). Jesus said this before He died, and after He died the Holy Spirit became available to all who earnestly seek to receive Him. He is the one who lives in the hearts of believers and never leaves. He counsels us, teaches us truths, and changes our hearts. Without this divine Holy Spirit, we would not have the ability to fight against evil and temptations. But since we do have Him, we begin to produce the fruit that comes from allowing the Spirit to control us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

This personal relationship with God is not as hard to find as we might think, and there is no mysterious formula for getting it. As soon as we become children of God, we receive the Holy Spirit, who will begin to work on our hearts. We should pray without ceasing, read the Bible, and join a Bible-believing church; all these things will help us to grow spiritually. Trusting in God to get us through each day and believing that He is our sustainer is the way to have a relationship with Him. Although we may not see changes immediately, we will begin to see them over time, and all the truths will become clear.
@ Sister Harris

2 Samuel14:14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

Proverbs 24:23-24 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

Act 10:33-35 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Romans 2:10-12 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

Colosians 3:24-25 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

James 2:8-10 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Thank you Sister Pat for going into detail about accepting Jesus as our Saviour. Not only do I believe what you wrote was rather beautiful but I agree with alot of it.
You stated in the next to the last paragraph If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:15-17). Jesus said this before He died...

Jesus commanded that the disciples go out and baptize.
Do you believe that baptism is necessary since it is God's command.
