Is It A Sin For Christians To Have Romantic Parts In Movies?

For instance - Denzel Washington is a COGIC Christian.
Should the elders of his church instruct him not to take roles that he would have to kiss or rub on an actress (no removing clothes) just as a husband would passionately kiss his wife?

As a Christian - I think it is not for him to take those sorts of roles.

Any thoughts?

Sis. Newview,

I understand your position. It would seem to me that a Christian actor would refuse to take on parts that would cause him/her to compromise themselves. It's rough enough just being an actor/actress; but as a Christian I would think that you would find it necessary to set up boundaries and stick to them; or better still, make Christian movies.

Let's keep it real . . . you cannot tell me that a man and woman doing a love scene (kissing only) that their flesh is not enjoying it. In fact, to get into character is to get into the flesh!

You preaching to the choir, Sis!
Thats if he believes in NT tithing!! LOL!!!
I HATE HOW THIS BOARD IS SET UP - I CAN NEVER FIND MY LAST POSTS - OY!!!!!!!!!
You too?!!? I thought that someone was going to create a post just for that reason!
I think timing has a lot to do with trying to respond to a specific post. Once that time has lapsed, your reply falls behind the last post - where ever it may lie.

To do what most of us are wanting to do is to merely set up a Chat Room.
A while back I was in a play, my part in the play, was of a crack addict. We did not sugar coat anything, my mouth, my actions, or attire.

In one part I had to say "pissy drunk" I never even thought about it!!! a question afterwards from a holier/thou one, was how could you have said that. The message of the play was very strong, and many were saved behind it. How could I have not said it.

I agree with Bro Watson, they are actors, acting out in most cases as Trevor pointed out reality. If it bothers one that bad it's usually because of a sin dormant lying inside waiting to attack? That is the question to be asked why does it bother you that bad
I could not kiss and hold a woman and NOT lust....and I don't think Denzel does either, that is why Paul said "It is NOT good for a man to touch a woman" marriage is the vehicle God gives men for sexual encounters. I am keeping it real put me in a love scene with Sanaa lathan and I would be in BIG TROUBLE...lol
Then by all means don't go there lol, it's good that you are honest with yourself. I do feel that there are men that can admire a woman's beauty without lusting and on th flip side as well with women, The word that Paul used for touch in that sentence was of a sexual nature.

Not a handshake
Kirk Cameron, a Christian who's trying to nurture a movie career, agrees with you."I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman," he told TODAY in New York. "Even in acting, you're still doing it." The producers of last year's "Fireproof" had to shoot a kiss scene in silhouette so that Cameron's real wife could play the scene with him because he held to this conviction.

But ultimately this is a private conviction. I doubt that Cameron would criticize Washington, or another professing believer, for doing something he doesn't have the freedom to do.

Where theres a will - theres a way...YOU GO KIRK!!!...and may those lusty devils be damned!!!!!
I have to admire Kirk for standing his ground and refusing to compromise. I personally do not think an actor/actress has to get into the "raw" to get a message across.

And to piggyback off of Evang. Fugett, our inherited sin nature is bothersome enough within itself; it doesn't necessarily take a sex scene to set it off.
