In part one, I discussed the Biblical canon and debated along the lines of if the Biblical Canon was closed. This time will be a bit different. I was in a few discussions before and have heard what they teach in many churches and what they teach in many seminary schools: "The Bible canon is 66 books and the books are sealed, with no new revelation to come." Where did we come up with the teaching that there are only 66 books within GOD's Word?

The Church has been physically divided by man's differences, and have fallen into the following categories with the following Biblical Canon:

Protestant Churches: 66 books
Lutheran Churches: 66 books (however, Martin Luther made an attempt to remove the books of Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation from the canon)
The Roman Catholic Church, & Eastern Catholic Churches: standard 66 plus the deuterocanonical books
Ethiopic Churches: 81 books (contains Enoch, Jubilees, and three books of the Meqabyan)

...and the list goes on....

Full dogmatic articulations and the closing of the Church Canons were not made until the Council of Trent of 1546 for Roman Catholicism, the Thirty-Nine Articles of 1563 for the Church of England, the Westminster Confession of Faith of 1647 for British Calvinism, and the Synod of Jerusalem of 1672 for the Greek Orthodox. Is it biblical, traditional, or just an assumption? Is it accurate or deceiving?

I guess my question is this: Who decided your Bible's number of books, and was GOD involved in this?

Who who who, Pharoah - picked and chose the books that are in the bible - that we consider the Word of God?
Was it Christians who you say had no part nor lot in the things of God?
See the men that put together the bible that you read - were past leaders of pagan Christianity.
Now you have to ask yourself - did God actually have something to do with those fellows?
Thats a question I have asked over and over to people that feel the Catholics and her daughters are evil and only their denomination is correct. (I question the people of my dogmatic denomination as well)
I wonder how they can conclude that the canonicity of the bible is from God but the people that sorted all out are evil.

Although I do believe what we have - the 66 books are sufficient for salvation.
Do you believe that the Lord is in control of the Earth?
@ Hezekiah,

Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation?
Yes, if you keep his commandments.

Matthew 19:16-24 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
@ Hezekiah,

Keeping the commandments IS NOT the way to salvation.
It is not the way to your salvation, but it is the way to man's salvation.
So be it Hezekiah as it relates to your idea of salvation.

I AM SAVED.
I don't have my own idea of salvation.

Jesus said: Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Newview I must say that yes, the 66 are sufficient for salvation. However, lets step outside of the mind of Martin Luther for a second, because Martin Luther's mission has nothing to do with this post. If you don't understand what I mean, here it is:

-Martin Luther didn't agree with, and even tried to remove some of the epistles in your precious "66". These books were the books of Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation.
-Martin Luther was anti-Semitic, which is confusing considering the fact that JESUS was from the tribe of Judah, a pure-blooded Israeli.
-Martin Luther disregarded the office of the Bishop, claiming that he found no substantial reason for it within the Bible. This was a total lie of course. He only disregarded it simply because he had a grudge against the Pope and Cardinals of Rome.

Martin Luther did however speak about salvation in a proper manner, but this is not about salvation, Newview. This is not an Evangelistic subject. This never was, and I doubt it ever will be. The question is this: did GOD stop with 66 books, and what proof do you have that HE did?
No no Trevor,
The point I was trying to make was - if you start going to the other books that are not in the canon already - then you JUST MAY take some writings to your soul that will have you on a road to NO WHERE and quite creepy.

That's all I am saying.

For instance - Enoch is just that strange to me. I flipped through it and I really dont go to it any more. Thats how strange some of the writings are and then Jesus never quoted from it. And then yet again - Jude did - but I understand some of the early church fathers were hesitant of even canonizing Jude because he quoted from it.
But more importantly - alot of it just contradicts much of the other scriptures. I dont need that in my life.

And as much as Luther is an important part of Christianity's history - he's not THAT much to me.
