In part one, I discussed the Biblical canon and debated along the lines of if the Biblical Canon was closed. This time will be a bit different. I was in a few discussions before and have heard what they teach in many churches and what they teach in many seminary schools: "The Bible canon is 66 books and the books are sealed, with no new revelation to come." Where did we come up with the teaching that there are only 66 books within GOD's Word?

The Church has been physically divided by man's differences, and have fallen into the following categories with the following Biblical Canon:

Protestant Churches: 66 books
Lutheran Churches: 66 books (however, Martin Luther made an attempt to remove the books of Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation from the canon)
The Roman Catholic Church, & Eastern Catholic Churches: standard 66 plus the deuterocanonical books
Ethiopic Churches: 81 books (contains Enoch, Jubilees, and three books of the Meqabyan)

...and the list goes on....

Full dogmatic articulations and the closing of the Church Canons were not made until the Council of Trent of 1546 for Roman Catholicism, the Thirty-Nine Articles of 1563 for the Church of England, the Westminster Confession of Faith of 1647 for British Calvinism, and the Synod of Jerusalem of 1672 for the Greek Orthodox. Is it biblical, traditional, or just an assumption? Is it accurate or deceiving?

I guess my question is this: Who decided your Bible's number of books, and was GOD involved in this?

This is your reply. How about humbling up, and turning unto the True & Living God.

Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

John 14:14-15 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Hez,
From Galations.

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Basically you are saying if you keep the commandments, you are not under the law because you are lead by the Spirit.
Almost,

But it is the other way round, we (those in Christ) live by the Spirit, so we do NOT do the acts of the sinful nature. :-

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.

Christ say, by thier fruit you will know them. The fruit He is speaking of is the fruit of the Spirit :-
Which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things (the fruit) there is no law.
The other way around makes no sense.
I know, God turns things upside down.

He did it to the Jews, when they expected their Saviour to be a Warrior King, and instead Christ was a Servant King.

He did it to the Greeks, whom expected great wisdom, yet the Cross was foolish to those perishing.

WE cannot earn his love or eternal life, by obeying the Torah. The Law is perfect, and shows us and condemns us of our sin, it also gives power to sin. However, the Perfect Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, was without sin, He submitted in perfect obedience to God, He fulfilled Torah, and lived it perfectly.

In God's infinite mercy and love, He died for us, so that we could live. In His death and resurrection. In our Baptism, we also die (spiritually) to self, and are resurrected to live for Him.(Roms 6:4) He comes and live in Us. (Gal 2:20) He lives His life through us. Thus IF we live by the Spirit (the Spirit is the Lord) HE can uphold God's commandments in us.

I hope this makes sense.
Caral,

Come out of Babylon!
LOL.

Hey James, I live in England, not Iraq!

Jesus is calling you, come on in, and drink from the living waters, and receive life. Receive His amazing Grace, be washed clean by His blood, for the power of the sin, holds you in bondage in your failing to keep and uphold Torah.

Come on in, He is soooo beautiful, so loving, so amazing, come and be a child of God. .
Caral,

Yeshua said in Luke 11:28,"But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe." Walking with Yeshua never means having only faith, but works as well. James 2:17,"Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself."

Your faith in Yeshua should never be absent from obedience(works of Torah). According to Yeshua, the people of "anomos", meaning those who violate the Torah, will be the ones who He will tell to depart from Him forever.

Matt 7:21-23,"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness(anomos)."
Caral,

I read an article somewhere, and it shows us how the phrase "God is love" is considered a Greek abstract. In other words, something that is concrete and alive as God Himself, cannot be anything abstract.

An interesting Hebraic thought to this is that God cannot be love itself, rather, God gives love. We love Him(through action), because He first loved us(by sending His son Yeshua). God gave us His love. Love did not die when Yeshua died.

So, God is love, in my understanding, is a misleading translation. It should be "God gives love", or something along those lines, because it's in line with the Hebraic flow of scripture.
Hi James
Yes and Amen, God gives love.

Sorry to repeat myself and my post.

Love comes from God, He gives it to us by sending His Son, We only love Him because He loved us first. When we understand what God did for us, we overflow in our gratitude of His love for us, then we can give and love others. Because it is not us, It is Him. So no man can boast.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
"...In God's infinite mercy and love, He died for us, so that we could live. In His death and resurrection. In our Baptism, we also die (spiritually) to self, and are resurrected to live for Him.(Roms 6:4) He comes and live in Us. (Gal 2:20) He lives His life through us. Thus IF we live by the Spirit (the Spirit is the Lord) HE can uphold God's commandments in us..."

Wonderful.
