I now understand more and more about this so-call world of "Hip-Hop". I understand now why "Hip-Hop"has really no place in our churches and yet it's slowly creeping in our church doors. After hearing all of this, I will stand behind fellow clergy members by NOT allowing "Hip-Hop" into our churches.

Pastors,Ministers and Church Leaders, would you allow "Hip-Hop" in your churches? Is this a way in keeping our youth in church? I am interested in all feedback concerning this issue.

Dear sir; I beg you please answer my questions; it seems that the conversations are geard toward lyrics when I have not read one coment against the lyrcs- What I cannot understand is why must the Church steal the devils music to give praise to God? I don't know on what level that makes sense ...Why can't you create some fresh new music to go with your fresh new lyrics oh and by the way if its 100% fresh and new why call it hip hop, holy hip hop, praise hop or any hop for that matter? just please come up with something NEW???!? REMIXING IS NOT CREATING! REMIXING IS NOT NEW its the same old song that michael sung' really this can't be that hard!
again I say...nobody is stealing anything from the devil..God gives us and anoints us with His gift it is up to us to decide how we use it....again....I say:

Did you forget about ray charles and how he took the sound from the church and brought it to pop music...did you forget about all the artists who get up in front of crowds and say ...I was brought up in the church and learned to sing and play while working with the church choir...and you are going to sit there and let these demons dominate what the Lord gave us....I think not!

by the way personally my anointing definitly comes from the Lord all while I was young I would hear music while reading the bible...and it wasnt hymnals bro....not in the traditional sense anyway
Rev. Spencer,

That is a great point by the way! I will keep that in mind as well. Kisbahlavish, when you take something that is not "yours" that's called stealing. Now Ray Charles, and other artist who were raised in the Church backslid into the world and took the sound with them only to pervert the sound into something vile was wrong...that is called stealing! I am sure the devil surprised all of us that he would do such a dastardly thing! However since God is in that whole creation thing, do something NEW thing, and since we are NOT to be CONFORMED to THIS WORLD we are supposed to be; afterall, TRANSFORMED by the reNEWing of our minds...Get a new mind; get a new sound! Tell me God don't have a great plan! by the way; I read the Quran growing up, everybody in my family were muslim so no body in my house was saved, and hip hop was'nt invited to the party yet God found a way to find my soul! Oh Bless his Holy Name!

Pastor Hodge how can you steal what is rightfully yours. The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof. We are His children so we have what our Dad has provided for us. Adam was in dominion of all until his fall. Now we are in position to reclaim what is ours as the children of Jesus the Christ. So please help me to understand where the stealing takes place.
Min. Mitchell,

This is TOPIC is not about a particular song; it is not about a partiular church, it is not about a particular person. This TOPIC (atleast for me) is about an agreages satanic and very strategic infusion of conformity into the Church at large. Today we are discussing whether its ok to sound like Ice Cube or who ever??? as we are witnessing now is the discussion of Homosexual preachers and bishops leading the Church. In a moment as God counts time you won't be able to tell the Church from a social gathering where anything goes and there are no standards.

There are several implications with this development. If the Church simply blends in with the people; if the Church presents no "Bold Contrast" to the world; if the Church is no different than your local disco, club or house party than the Church beomes irrelevent! We as Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors and Teachers were placed i the Church as gifts from God; to edify the Church, not blend in with the world. If I see your Church across the street burning on fire, sure it has little affet on my Church but if I love God and I say I love you; you better believe that I will owe God an explenation as to why I was not over there with bucket of water, a hose or somehing to put that fire out and help restore your Church to its original state.

In the Beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void, the spirit of God moved across the face of the deep and God said let there be light; and God saw that the light was good.

Rap Music brings with it a spirit of Darkness, heaviness of sin, the stench of Death! God is speaking to the Church today! Let there be light! Light is apposed to Darkness, Life is apposed to death, and the sweet smelling aroma of praise is apposed to the sound used by the devils children. All I am proposing is this: God is not out of the creation business; let us therefore pray and ask him for a NEW SOUND on that will legitimatly entice followers of Christ not of their favorite song with nice new words.

Why are you so apposed to this question?

Sincerely,

Pastor Hodge
You speak on technicalities. I am speaking on deliverance. The reason you find it so hard to accept is because of how you were introduced into this music. You have baggage. You as a new creature shouldn't straddle as far as trying to use the music that entrapped you to heal you. Even if the instrumental allows vain imaginations, you should not touch that. You are looking for a new sound but yet you are holding on to what you know and understand. You must cast our vain imaginations and pull down those strongholds that keep you from hearing the "message in the music".

Listen and see if you can hear the message in the music, please?

I just had a thought, although we all serve the same Lord we don't agree on every point. We will argue about almost everything, when one makes a point that we agree with we say something like "Outstanding response, Pastor Amen!" and we do often disagree about many things don't we? What movie a Christian should go to and not go to, playing cards, men wearing earrings, women preachers, long hair on men, birth control, etc. It is traditional worship vs. contemporary worship: we wonder wish one pleases God more? Some of us have very deep convictions, and our disagreements are very sharp. And sometimes if we are not careful we will resort to name calling, like "haters" and such. We don't just argue once and then let it go. We will argue over and over and over again. In the long run we are all moving away from God's Word, Eph.4:3: Be devoted to one another in brotherly love, and Ro. 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace everyone. If we are going to disagree with one another, let us do it with respect and let our ultimate goal be geared toward reconciliation and restoration. If I don't agree with you, At least you ought to be able to respect my opinion, and I ought to be able to respect yours.
I agree bro..I dont hate anyone here its all love
People are allow a "type of music" to make the church without walls a "house divided". Were is the unity? Why are we(the church) so prejudice? If you don't like the music, don't listen to it!!! No one is forcing you. Now everybody wants to show that they studied 2 hours and come and give their exegesis on the text.

COME ON PEOPLE!!!

THERE ARE REAL ISSUES AT HAND. THERE ARE PEOPLE SUFFERING HURT AND REJECTION AND NEED HEALING & YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT MUSIC. ARE YOU SERIOUS! HOW IS GOD GETTING THE GLORY! AND WHY ARE PEOPLE USING ADJECTIVES INSTEAD OF TYPING THE NAME OF POWER: "JESUS, JESUS, JESUS"!!!!
THERE ARE YOUNG STRONG MEN & WOMEN OF GOD WHO ARE WORKING IN THE KINGDOM! AND THERE ARE THOSE WHO ARE MAD BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THE MUSIC. THEN YOU HAVE YOUNG PEOPLE ON HERE MAKING POINTS, WITHOUT STUDYING, TRYING TO MAKE A NAME OF THEMSELF.

PROVERBS 10:18
HE THAT HIDETH HATRED WITH LYING LIPS, AND HE THAT UTTERETH A SLANDER, IS A FOOL.

HOW ABOUT WE PRAY & ALLOW JESUS TO HANDLE THIS. IT'S OBVIOUS MAN IS INCAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING GOD'S WAYS AND GOD'S THOUGHTS. THERE IS NO GODLINESS IN CONFUSION! BEFORE WE (THE BODY OF CHRIST) POINT THE FINGER, LOOK IN YOUR SECRET DVD STASH AND THAT HIDDEN FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE AND ASK, "DOES THIS MOVIE GLORIFY GOD?" LET'S NOT BE PHARISAIC!
Minister Mitchell,

I think that you and I are almost on the same page, you are right "If you don't like the music, don't listen to it" and if you are the pastor and you decide that hip hop gospel will not become a part of the church's order of service where you serve that's a decision you have made for that particular church. If the church across the street embraces hip hop that is their choice. In short, I am oppose to it, but I am not opposed to whatever you want to do there at the house of worship you attend. And even if I were opposed to it there would be absolutely nothing I could do about it.
Yes!!!!! I love the realness in this message.
Jesus did handle it! he said "be ye separate", "Take your cross and follow me", "My sheep know my voice" in the greek it translates to a word [phone] meaning "sound" "No man can serve two masters" You sir are working hard at doing just that; on the one hand you are a slave to the music of the world on the other hand you are a slave to the lyric of praise.

The Latter is not the issue; its the former that has you beat. As a matter of fact My "secret" DVD stash would glorify God! and so would my movies...why do you assume that everyone that disagrees with you is a lying, deceitful, finger pointing hypocrite? could it be that you are simply wrong? Is it possible that you could be mistaken? think about it...you joined a discussion on a topic that means a lot to others and rather than sticking to your position based on the scripture; you have reduced the discussion to "not liking the music" this discussion has nothing to do with not liking the music and it really has nothing to do with being "mad at you"

it is about the basic idea that God has placed his Church in this world of Darkness as a great light! How would you feel if while you were on a ship lost at sea; looking for land and the operator of the LIGHT tower decided to dimn the lights to blend in with the night? This analogy is the same argument that is being used to support your position.

We are not here to blend in with the norms of a lost world; we are here to be that Guiding light, shinning in the darkness of night! drawing the people out of the sinking ship of sin, onto the solid rock of faith; bought and paid for by the presious blood of Jesus Christ no the sound of JZ, 50cent or any other of their esteemed associates!
