I now understand more and more about this so-call world of "Hip-Hop". I understand now why "Hip-Hop"has really no place in our churches and yet it's slowly creeping in our church doors. After hearing all of this, I will stand behind fellow clergy members by NOT allowing "Hip-Hop" into our churches.

Pastors,Ministers and Church Leaders, would you allow "Hip-Hop" in your churches? Is this a way in keeping our youth in church? I am interested in all feedback concerning this issue.

Newview, I believe the point my brother was attempting to point out is that Jesus did not preach hell the way we preach hell. He did not consign people there, as we do. We can either be walls to keep people out, or doorways to allow people access to the Savior.
Brother Anthony,
Thanks for clarifying this for me. I thank God you were able to see my heart in this!
"...Newview, I believe the point my brother was attempting to point out is that Jesus did not preach hell the way we preach hell..."

The preaching I hear about hell is how Jesus preached it...if something is going to make you stumble and live less than a holy life - get it out of your life - other wise you will go to hell and burn forever because the fire wont be quenched.
THATS the kind of preaching I hear.

"...We can either be walls to keep people out, or doorways to allow people access to the Savior"....

And please remember - we are to be a light to the world - not drag the world's 'darkness' into the church calling it 'reaching the lost'.

I think most people that want to get out of world - really want to get away from that atmosphere.
I know when I was tired of the club scene - it was not the wordly clubby atmosphere that drew me to church...I was seeking God and his holiness, His seperateness, His pureness.
Surely most sinners wanting salvation and the pureness of holiness are not seeking things you can pick up in the world at any grimey bar.
Tell me something Newview, do you listen to any of the following: Commissioned, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, and of the Clark Sisters?
Yes. I do.
But them singing or playing did not draw me to church nor would it keep me there.
Yall putting this entertainment stuff in a place it ought not be.
The gospel is now a side issue with the way things are ran in the church.
And if the WORD of God is not the main focus then God is not the main focus and we are fooling ourselves.
So then you realize that there is a hip hop influence in their music right? Certainly you knew that, of course you did.
Once again you and your peers are thinking that the Word of God loses power should it
a. be set to music
b, that music be hip hop
c. that anything from the culture of hip hop cannot be good. The problem with that line of thinking is that it denies the redemptive power of Christ. Either Christ's blood is powerful enough to change the culture or not. You and your peers deny that power by virtue of your argument.
I am sorry Brother Anthony, but the blood of Jesus Christ has absolutely nothing to do with hip hop music. Hip-hop in the church has nothing to do with the redemptive power of Christ, and I am having a difficult time trying to understand your logic.
So then you are saying that hip hop is stronger than the blood of Christ? You are saying that the redemptive work of Christ is so impotent that it cannot reach them?
No, that's something you are saying. Anytime you want to replace the preached word with hip-hop, you are lifting up what you perceive has more power.
Sister Angela, since when is doing gospel rap sugar coating... You lost me on that one. Woman of God, there are pastors and ministers who do that without music. Please let's not allow leviathan to go to work.
Minister S Bernard people when they want to confuse than issue try to pull the wool over people’s eyes to get away from the issue. The discussion about Hip Hop coming in the church is that they can’t get the younger generation in. If preachers preach the right message as they did when I was growing up the church would be just as full as then when they stop preaching that way they lost a lot of people from the church and that is because the preachers sugar coated the message because it was easier for them to become everybody’s friend rather than be hated as is expect of Gods Apostles.
