Once Saved Always Saved?



Let's read what the bible has to say on the topic. Let's read what happens to both sinners and the righteous. But before we do that let's look up the ONLY definition in the ENTIRE bible for the word "sin"

1John.3
[4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Now we know what "sin" is AND we know what a "sinner" is. "Sin" is anything that goes against the Laws of God and a "sinner" is a person that brakes God's laws!

And just for the record, let's find out who has sinned;

Eccl.7
[20] For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Rom.3
[23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;


Now let's find the fate of the sinner and the righteous;

Ezek.18
[20] The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Now we know what a sinner is, it is one that breaks the LAWS of God, which, according to God's inspired word, ALL have done. And the scriptures says he that sinneth shall die. The death spoken of here is the second death. Now let's read what happens if the sinner turns from his ways, or STOPS breaking God's laws;

[21] But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[22] All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

So the sinner can change his fate. If he STOPS breaking Gods laws NONE of his transgressions will even be mentioned.

Now let's see if there is a flip side to this. Let's read the fate of the righteous;

[24] But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

So ALL of the good things a righteous person does can be wiped away and counted for nothing if he starts sinning. And does he have the chance to redeem himself? Let's read;

[26] When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

So if the ONCE righteous DIES in his sins, he shall die the second death.

I would say Gods ways are fair and equal just as He says in His word.

Now some may want to still believe that once they are saved they will ALWAYS be saved, but let's read and see if a NT person thought the same way.

Let's read what Paul had to say about the possibility of him NOT making it into God's kingdom;

1Cor.9
[27] But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

So even Paul realized that it was possible for him to blow the mission, miss the mark and NOT make it into God's kingdom, if he did not keep his body under subjection.

Now there are some we KNOW will be in God's kingdom, but let's look just how close it will be even for them;

1Pet.4
[18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

And just who are some of the righteous that we KNOW will be in God's kingdom? Noah, Abraham, Moses, King David, the prophets and the 12 apostles, just to name a few.

Now if these JUST make it in, I can see why Paul says he himself may be a castaway if he does not continue to do what is right. And if THEY just make it in, where does that put us?

Let’s look at just a few more scriptures;

Exod.32
[33] And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Now let’s see just what book is being spoken of here;

Rev.3
[5] He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

WOW!!! Just think about that for a moment. A persons name that is written in God’s book of life can be removed!!! I mean......they were there!! Their name was in THE BOOK!!! So what could have happened for their name to be removed from God’s book of life? Could God have changed the rules? Not according to scripture;

Mal.3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not…
Heb.13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

So if God doesn’t change….. The only other thing that could have changed was THEM!!!!!

Now a name that STAYS in God's book of life until that person dies, then he is saved. But if a name that was in God's book of life is REMOVED and that person dies.................... ........................ ..well!

Is your name written in God’s book of life? Or has it been BLOTTED OUT? When will we find out?

The Never Saved
Argument Scrutinized

For a person to say that a professing Christian was never saved, if he turns away from God to sin, is fallacious in at least 7 different areas. If you are a Christian, carefully ponder the following so you can help others see the dangerous folly of such a declaration.

Reason 1

For one to say a professing Christian who turns away from God to sin was never saved is also to deny that we can know who is saved and who is not by their present tense behavior. Such is clearly unscriptural:

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. (1 John 3:10)

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil. (1 John 3:7,8)

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:3,4)

The Bible is crystal clear that we can know them by their fruit (Mt. 7:16,17) and there is observable evidence of God’s saving grace:

News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. (Acts 11:22,23)

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is to deny that others were ever able to identify him as a non-Christian before that happened.

Reason 2

For one to say a professing Christian who turns away from God to sin was never saved is also to have an inconsistent message. If those same teachers were consistent they would have to say David, Solomon and Peter were never saved because they backslid. David turned to adultery and murder (2 Sam. 11); Solomon turned to idolatry (1 Kings 11:4-10) and Peter disowned Jesus three times (Mt. 26:33,34). Both David and Peter repented and returned to God but Solomon continued in wickedness. There is no evidence that Solomon ever returned to God.

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is to exclude prominent Biblical characters who were truly saved before terribly falling to that degree. On this basis alone, the never saved argument is destroyed.

Reason 3

To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is to imply that true Christians will not turn away to sin but continue to obey God. But that type of message is often opposed and scoffed at by the same teachers. In other words, those same teachers declare Christians constantly sin in thought, word and deed. They also wrongly use Romans 7:14-25 for support and to teach that Paul was like that and such is the normal Christian life! Imagine that! They teach like that then turn 180 degrees around and teach the same crowd if you turn away you were never saved—two completely opposite teachings, yet their audience seems oblivious to it.

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also to teach that a true Christian will always obey God and never backslide, which is denied by their misuse of Rom. 7:14-25.

Reason 4

To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is to ignore at least 26 Scriptures in the NT which show people who previously were disciples and followers of Christ later fell away, turned away, went back, etc. and not once in those 2 dozen plus passages do we read because they went back that was evidence which proves they were never saved. Scripture shows it can be somewhat common for followers of Christ to turn to wickedness; get deceived into believing a false gospel; etc.

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also to display ignorance of those 26 Scriptures (plus all the other relevant Scriptures) which teach the opposite. (See The Believer’s Conditional Security, p. 632 for a listing of those Scriptures.)

Reason 5



To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also to teach you can never know if anyone is a Christian brother or sister, including the preacher himself who taught you this never really saved absurdity. Maybe he is just a false convert too.

Their doctrine would have us believe another’s salvation can’t be known as long as one remains alive, because as long as they remain alive they might apostatize and thereby prove they were never saved. If you can’t tell if another is a Christian then you can’t consider someone to be a spiritual leader or a possible spouse to marry, since both require true Christians.

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also to teach that no Christian can ever know another to be a possible spiritual leader or spouse for marriage.

Reason 6

To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is only backed by two passages, which are both misused.

Matthew 7:23

The first is Mt. 7:23 where Jesus tells continuous tense evildoers that he never knew them.



Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?” Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Mat 7:21-23)

The context shows the religious ones referred to there were never saved but were continuous tense evildoers. Those religious-but-continuous evildoers never had evidence of saving grace, that is, a freedom from sin addictions which occurs when one contacts the blood of Jesus at true conversion (Rom. 6:22; John 8:34-36; Rev. 1:5; etc.), but that doesn’t mean others who had a true conversion can’t shrink back, as the Bible shows has happened.

Furthermore, the never saved proponents focus in on the one and only passage which has the words never saved (or its equivalent), but conveniently overlook three passages which show others were also not known by the Lord Jesus, but not told they were never saved:

But he replied, “I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.” (Mat 25:12)

Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, “Sir, open the door for us.” But he will answer, “I don’t know you or where you come from.” (Luke 13:25)

But he will reply, “I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!” (Luke 13:27)

Jesus didn’t tell them, I never knew you, like in Mt. 7:23, but instead I don’t know you. That implies they were once known (saved), but later lost their salvation. This is especially clear with the 10 Virgins teaching (Mt. 25:1-13).

1 John 2:19

The second Scripture misused by the never saved OSAS crowd for support is 1 John 2:19, which refers to people who did not believe Jesus was the Christ, as shown in 1 John 2:22:

Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.

Their doctrine clearly excluded them from being a Christian. They too had no evidence of saving grace since they denied Jesus was the Christ.

? To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also to rely chiefly upon two Scriptures, both of which are misused and misapplied. Hence, there is no solid Biblical support for it. The people referred to in each never had evidence of saving faith because they were either continuous tense evildoers or doctrinally denied Jesus was the Christ.

Reason 7

To say a professing Christian who turns away from God to wickedness was never saved is also cited as an argument to conceal the license for immorality that the once saved always saved doctrine declares itself to be. When their doctrine gets exposed as the security in sin gospel or they notice gross immorality among those they have been preaching to, they then tend to mention their contradicting, inconsistent, double message with no Scriptural support—the never saved absurd argument.

With some people, it has actually succeeded in confusing the issue enough to conceal the glaring wickedness and security-in-sin being taught through eternal security at other times.

? People who cite the never saved argument are either grossly ignorant of hundreds of Scriptures which counter the never saved doctrine or are intentionally hiding those related-but- contradictory-truths to preserve their own doctrine, which began with the devil himself in Gen. 3:4.

There are well over 100 relevant Scriptures which refute the never saved argument. They only have 2 verses, which are both misused and misapplied. Which will you believe?

One more point: Calvinist John MacArthur is one of the leading proponents (along with Ray Comfort) of this absurd unscriptural never saved (or false convert) argument. Yet MacArthur clearly teaches, at times, there are Christian adulterers, Christian drunks, Christian thieves, Christian liars, Christian murderers, etc.
Ok For this topic we have to look at How The Bible says we must be saved? And Who has the Truth? Then if a person has Faith and has obeyed the gospel,The word says in Matthew 10:22 (King James Version)

22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Therefore not once saved always saved. The believer must continue to walk in God's Word through his/her Life!

So Can One say they have Faith and Not Obey the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ?

WHO'S WORD? THE APOSTLES. We are to believe on Jesus Christ through THEIR WORD! God Gave them the TRUTH!

So What Did they Preach to Be Saved for all man kind? Acts 2:37-40 (King James Version)

37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.


Romans 6:14-16 (King James Version)

The person By walking in God's Grace Must Decide if He's Going to Walk in God's Word or Do NOTHING!

God Has Granted Grace to Us So we can have space to repent and Believe The Gospel before we die! Not To Continue in Sin And Say Yeah I Believe You Lord Your Grace will save me and Do Nothing!

Guess What? In James 1:22 (King James Version)says:

22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

He Had Faith What God HAD Said and By His Works HE SHOWED HE BELIEVED GOD!
What If Abraham Said YEAH LORD I BELIEVE AND Went on a picnic with His Son and forgot about What God Asked Him to Do? He would have been disobedient.

OK, Another example is Noah. When God Told Noah to Build the Ark . What If Noah Said YEAH LORD I HAVE FAITH YOU CAN MAKE US FLOAT ABOVE THE WATER WHEN THE FLOODS COME AND YOU SAVE US! AND WENT AND SAT UNDER AN OLD OAK TREE UNTIL THE FLOODS CAME?
WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED? HE AND HIS FAMILY AND ALL THE ANIMALS WOULD HAVE DROWNED! WHY? Because He Didn't Obey God at His WORD!
Also when he built the ark by FAITH God TOLD HIM TO MAKE IT OUT OF GOFER WOOD! If Noah built it out of some other wood It Would have probably Would have Sunk! SO IT"S VERY IMPORTANT TO DO IT THE WAY GOD SAYS TO DO IT!

So What Did He Preach to be saved? Acts 2:38 (King James Version)

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Notice those who gladly received the Word of God Was Baptized. (Acts 2:41 same chapter)They Had Faith and obedience by the Grace Of God! Some People say Baptism is not necessary!
If The Rest of The Apostles Didn't agree with this message Don't you think one of them would have stood up and Corrected Him?
I had someone say to me Well Whose Words are you going to believe? Jesus(God) Or MANS THE APOSTLES?
I replied I am going To Believe THE WHOLE WORD OF God! Both! What we Have Here Is Man contradicting Scripture! If YOU DON"T BELIEVE THE Apostle's Word THAN YOU MIGHT AS WELL THROW AWAY MOST OF THE ENTIRE NEW TESTAMENT! why even bother reading it if you don't believe it!

God's Word Is in Agreement through out the Whole Bible! It ALWAYS flows in Perfect Harmony! It Never Changes!

25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

So my question to you is? If you Heard This message of Acts 2:38 Just Now, What will keep you from obeying the Truth? Or Will you say YEAH LORD I BELIEVE! AND do nothing toward Obedience to His Word? Ignore This Scripture (Acts 2:38,) Jesus Even said you Cannot enter in the Kingdom of God if you are not Born-Again in (John 3:3-5)and YET SOME believe God can go outside of His word And Save you?

Saviour .They are entered into the Lambs Book of Life and according to scripture will never be removed

It seems that some people want to make salvation a works by saying if we return to our sinful lives after receiving salvation, we will lose our salvation. Some people seem to forget, when we received the gift of salvation, our "inherited sin nature" did not go away (Romans 7:14-25).
Just one question;

Just what was the "Great" Paul in fear of being a castaway to?

This Christian life is about drawing close to God while doing the works He has given us to help build up the kingdom. We must always stay focused and in communication with God and by doing so, we should be bearing the fruit of the Spirit otherwise, we may need to check to see if we are truly saved.

There are a lot of people who may think they are saved simply because of the good works that they do and because they are well versed in the scriptures, but when it comes to a personal relationship with the Lord, they are just as lost as those who rejected the Lord from the beginning.

Luke 13:26-27. . .Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
That's like saying if someone gives me a gift and I lose it, it never was a gift. The logic is flawed.

I'm sure who you are responding to, but allow me to make myself clear in case your comment was in response to my statement. I never said anything about a person losing a gift. I do not believe that you can "lose" your salvation. So, I'm not sure where your statement is coming from or what it's leading to.

Is it Eternal Life if You can Lose It?

This question is often presented in defense of the once saved-always saved position. It is reasoned that if a person can lose eternal life, then it was not truly eternal life in the first place, and God is made a liar. According to their philosophy, if it is eternal it cannot be cut off. They forget that eternal life is a gift from God.; It can be received, rejected, or returned. The Bible clearly reveals that there are some who have once possessed eternal life and then lost it. Adam and Eve had eternal life, but God told them if they disobeyed, they would die. Only by faith in His promise and obedience to His commands could they continue in everlasting life. When they sinned, they forfeited it. Likewise, the angels possessed eternal life, but when some rebelled, they lost it!

A classic example of one who lost eternal life is seen in Judas. The Bible says he was a friend of Jesus (Psa. 41:9). In addition, he was chosen to preach and given power to heal the sick and cast out devils. Some try to say Judas was never saved, but this cannot be. Did Christ choose a devil to be an apostle? Did Christ ordain a devil to preach the saving gospel? Did the Lord give Satan power to cast out Satan? Remember, Jesus said that Satan does not cast out Satan. Yet Judas, as an apostle, cast out devils.; (See Matt. 10:1-21; Mark. 6:7-13). Scripture clearly says that Judas betrayed the Lord. One must have first been trustworthy before he can become guilty of betrayal. Furthermore, the Scriptures tell us that Satan entered Judas after he ate the Passover meal with the Lord (John 13:27), and that "by transgression he fell" (Acts 1:25). He could not fall unless he had once stood. Jesus acknowledged that he had "lost" Judas. He could not have lost him unless he first belonged to the Lord. Judas clearly fell from grace, and lost eternal life.

Their lack of "love of the truth" and their desire to continue to have "pleasure in unrighteousness" will bring them to eternal destruction. The Church of God carries responsibility to preach the truth concerning this matter.; Those who backslide will be just as lost as if they had never given their heart to the Lord.; Eternal life is God's promise, but the promise is to those who continue a faithful walk after receiving their salvation experience. Is it Eternal Life if You can Lose It?

This question is often presented in defense of the once saved-always saved position. It is reasoned that if a person can lose eternal life, then it was not truly eternal life in the first place, and God is made a liar. According to their philosophy, if it is eternal it cannot be cut off. They forget that eternal life is a gift from God.; It can be received, rejected, or returned. The Bible clearly reveals that there are some who have once possessed eternal life and then lost it. Adam and Eve had eternal life, but God told them if they disobeyed, they would die. Only by faith in His promise and obedience to His commands could they continue in everlasting life. When they sinned, they forfeited it. Likewise, the angels possessed eternal life, but when some rebelled, they lost it!

A classic example of one who lost eternal life is seen in Judas. The Bible says he was a friend of Jesus (Psa. 41:9). In addition, he was chosen to preach and given power to heal the sick and cast out devils. Some try to say Judas was never saved, but this cannot be. Did Christ choose a devil to be an apostle? Did Christ ordain a devil to preach the saving gospel? Did the Lord give Satan power to cast out Satan? Remember, Jesus said that Satan does not cast out Satan. Yet Judas, as an apostle, cast out devils.; (See Matt. 10:1-21; Mark. 6:7-13). Scripture clearly says that Judas betrayed the Lord. One must have first been trustworthy before he can become guilty of betrayal. Furthermore, the Scriptures tell us that Satan entered Judas after he ate the Passover meal with the Lord (John 13:27), and that "by transgression he fell" (Acts 1:25). He could not fall unless he had once stood. Jesus acknowledged that he had "lost" Judas. He could not have lost him unless he first belonged to the Lord. Judas clearly fell from grace, and lost eternal life.
