In 1980 I was stationed at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea. While there I heard a Baptist preacher tell a group in Bible study that “all roads lead to Rome” meaning every religion can get you to heaven. I was a new believer, but I knew this was wrong! I challenged him, because NO ONE else would say a word. He was a popular preacher and I was a new convert so you can imagine whose side everyone lined up on. My point is this, when you hear false preaching or teaching SAY SOMETHING! The Apostle Paul was the new kid on the block (Read Galatians) yet he challenged and corrected the Chief Apostle Peter for treating the Gentile believers wrong.
Ministers are NOT infallible, only the Word of God is! No matter how popular or how powerful a preacher is, they are NOT above reproach!

Well grace according to the Bible is the the Blood of Jesus, or Jesus's death is Grace. We are under the blood because we have sinned. Once you have repented, and been baptized, then you are to walk after the spirit, and that is to keep the commandments of God to the best of your ability. We are not going to Heaven. If we are walking in righteousness, or walking in the Spirit, then we will receive a crown of righteousness, as Paul talked about. You can keep God's commandments. I do it, and a lot of others do to.. "TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY. I don't steal, I don't kill, I don't lie, but I do slip, and repent, and keep moving. I don't covet, I don't deal with idols or graven images, or take the Lord's name in vain. I don't commit adultery, but I do slip and think lustful thoughts when I see a woman who is very attractive. I keep the Sabbath, I keep the Feasts of the Lord, The Dietary Laws, and the Cleanliness laws. It took practice, but once you have practiced something for so long, it becomes natural. Just as sinning does. SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW. If you worship the God of the Bible, this is grace, and these things are we to do because of the Grace given. This is the new covenant that the Lord write the commandments in our hearts and in our minds.
Brother you are conflicted, a part of you understands grace, yes it is about the Blood and work of Jesus, where you erroer is you say "I" too much, grace is all about Jesus. All have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, THAT is why keeping the Law CAN'T save you....God's unmerited favor SAVES us, all we have to do is believe on Jesus, after we accept Him by faith THEN we can live a righteous life because the Holy Spirit HELPS US!!!! Our righteousness is like FILTHY RAGS my brother, there is NOTHING good in me or YOU! That is why Jesus had to DIE!
The way to make your calling and election sure to bring forth your destiny is Love.
Here is the Bible's definition of Love from the Law and testimony.

The Law: Exodus 20:6
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

The Testimony: 1John5:1-3 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

This is the reason why I came to the Law and testimony:

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

2Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Since the Scripture is of no Private interpretation then this is true.

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Here is the Bible's Definition of Sin:

1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Here is man's definition of sin: Sin:(n.) The transgression of divine law http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sin

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Here is Jesus talking:

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Here is mans whole duty or destiny:

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man
You cannot keep the commandment apart from faith in jesus and recieving the power of the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8) The Law had to be written on our HEARTS through the NEW BIRTH!

Re-read what you posted: You cannot keep the commandment apart from faith in jesus and recieving the power of the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8) The Law had to be written on our HEARTS through the NEW BIRTH.

Why does Jesus say those things in John? Read this in Matthew..

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Is the law done away with, do you believe Jesus is the Messiah?

Daniel 9:26-27 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

It said he shall confirm the covenant or give the testimony of the covenant, or fulfill the covenant or law with many for one week, and in the middle of the week he was killed, and caused sacrifice and oblation to cease or stop, not the commandments... They are written in your heart and mind when you practice keeping them because they are in your mind if you are trying to keep them.. Let's be reasonable and rational.. That makes a lot more sense then what you are trying to convey....
Can YOU keep Jesus Commandment apart from the power of the Holy Spirit? (Acts 1:8)
Mark,

Let's agree that we must keep the commandments. Now, does this mean that we are not to keep them, or to avoid sin, we must keep them??
I never said we are NOT to obey God, you guys keep inferring that, MY issue with you folks is you seem to think one can obey God WITHOUT divine assistance, People in the OT were NOT born again, even David realized this when he asked God in Psalm 51 "Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me" David LOVED God without a doubt...but he realized he couldn't do it without A CLEAN HEART!
You are stiffnecked Brother Mark. Look how you get around actually saying we need to keep the commandments of God. This is not something we published ourselves. These are the teachings of the Bible. How can you claim to follow something, and not follow its teachings. You are what we used to call back when I gangbanged, a "false flagger".. You claimed to be in the gang, but you did not know the literature... All you knew was the handshake, and how we dressed. The outward things.. Just as you are acting the part here...
