I think it is very important that preachers of today need to be seminary trained .

i say that because there are no more dumb folk in the church and i feel that it is a sad day for the preacher if he has somebody in the congregation that knows more about the bible than the preacher. Also i feel that if the pulpit is dumb then the pews are dumb.

What?
For all you who thinks preaching the Gospel deals with text book education think again. Your text books will not wipe snotty noses from hungry children faces dieing of starvation, it won't allow you to feel the last heart beat of a person dying with aids, as a matter of fact your text books don't even teach you how to pratice not being offended. Forever learning but never getting an understanding of what the Father really requires and that is LOVE. Love you can't learn in a class room nor text book.

It's Time
Love is an answer to all problems, but I can love a dying sinner, but when he asks me a question about his salvation, I must be prepared to give an account to what I believe. This thing is a partnership; We have to do our part, because Faith without works is dead; I can have faith that the good Lord is going to get me a job, but if I fail to submit resumes and applications my job is out there waiting until I work it; God is going to do His part, as a matter of Fact he has already done His part, now its my turn.
well said...how'd your first public sermon go?
I celebrate your comments. We understand first and foremost that it is God who gives or inspires the sermon. However, there is nothing wrong with having some additional information. A pastor should desire to attend conferences in order to bring things back to the body. Paul states "For the perfecting of the saints and the work of the ministry".
Who is too say the seminary is right. you have many a learned false prophet in the body, but too know God is the most important of all, certainly the Holy Spirit does a wonderful job of teaching. The word quotes " Lo' I comein thevolume o the book" not spurgeon and luther. You see the study of many books is worrisome too the soul. If the Body would truly look they would find, ask God for guidance and he would lead. But the seminary, that is a stretch, You are actually in belief that an a,b,c,d,f, student is more qualified to speak for God, than the fruit picker, or the junk handler, Maybe you should get a good concordance and look up called, and chosen and see whom it is God uses, for truly the 12 were not taught by men, nor Moses, Jeremiah etc.... Amos would beg to differ
I agree with Brother Adrian. I'm not against people going to the cemetary, Oh, Did I say cemetary? Okay, seminary. I just choose not to go myself. God's grace is sufficient. The anointing will teach us. We should, and we must study, but our Master is the Lord. All you really need is a Bible, a concordance, a dictionary/thesaurus, and a good encyclopedia. Commentaries are good also but I don't suggest you use them all the time, as they become a crutch. We don't always need to know what Matthew Henry has to say. We need a revelation from God.
Hi brother Melvin King!

You didn't make a mistake.

The synonym of seminary is really cemetery. I ask people to leave cemeteries and to go to the school of the Holy Spirit as brother Paul, the Apostles, all the Prophets, brother William Marrion Branham and others did.

Blessings,

Bro. Germain

Rev. Luckett,
I pray the peace of God rain down on you like never before, and pour out on you the spirit of revelation knowledge. I pray that He would fill your faith account with a bounty of wisdom, understanding and knowledge that will literally cause you to loose your mind. But not to worry, he will endue you with the very mind of Christ, the anointing of God which crys, Abba Father. Trust Him. Commentaries are okay. Hey,I have them too. But my reliance is upon the Lord. God is going to give you what you ask for. I can hear God saying Lean on Me. I'll be your crutch from now on. I have been trying to preach this gospel for twenty-four years, and still I'm as nervous as a child, when I'm sitting in that pulpit. And the whole time service is going on, I'm inwardly praying, Father, be with me. If you don't do this, it won't be done. I'm leaning on you, I'm depending on you, and I trust you. And when I stand up, and get that mic in my hand, I'm a different kinda animal. All fear is gone. I'm still like that to this day. It keeps me humble. I study. I study daily, and I ask God to bring back to my rememberance those things which he have taught me. Work on your messages, and dig. Stop calling them sermons. You'll preach messages from now on. Timely ones, piped down from heaven into your spirit and out of your mouth into the ears of the hearers. And you shall add grace to their lives. You are anointed to ak God his mysteries, and He trust you. Believe that.
WOW THE RESPONSE TO THE WORD BEING PREACHED BY THE EDUCATED VERSES THE PREACHER WITHOUT FURTHERING THEIR KNOWLEDGE WAS UNDERSTANDABLE. FROM READING YOUR OUTLOOK ON THE SUBJECT I AM A TRUE BELIEVER THAT THE LORD WILL SEND OUT HIS WORD THREW HIS PEOPLE. I ALSO KNOW THAT YOU DON'T NEED A DEGREE TO SERVE THE LORD NOR TO PREACH THE WORD OF GOD IF HE HAS CHOSEN YOU. THE KNOWLEDGE IS SOMETHING THAT GOD WILL IN STILL WITHIN US. SOMETIMES GOING TO GET YOUR DEGREES WILL HINDER THE WORKS OF THE LORD. WE HAVE SEEN SO MANY GET SWOLLEN HEADS AND FORGET THE TRUE MEANING OF SOULS BEING SAVED. THEY GET A REAL ORA OF SELF AND FORGET THE MAIN SOURCE THE LORD AND THEN THEY LOOSE WHAT GOD HAD PREPARED THEM TO DO. EDUCATION IS A GOOD THING, BUT WE STILL HAVE THOSE THAT THE LORD WILL PICK UP AND USE THEM THE WAY HE WANT THEM TO BE USED. THESE PEOPLE SOMETIMES ARE THE BEST FOR THEY ARE MORE HUMBLE AND THEY FORGET NOT WHERE THEY COMR FROM.

PASTOR'S THE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO ONE ANOTHER IS SO SWEET AND PRECIOUS AND STRONGLY NEEDED TO SHOW HOW WITH THE LOVE OF THE LORD WE NEED TO KEEP ONE ANOTHER ENCOURAGED. WE NEED NOT TAKE OFFENSE WHEN SOMEONE SPEAKS WITH LOVE AND TRY TO TEACH THE PROPER WAY OF DOING THINGS. GENTLEMEN PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP OTHERS IN TUNED AND ENLIGHTENED WITH NEWS ON HOW TO BE IN GOD'S PERFECT WILL. THANK YOU FOR I'VE ENJOYED WHAT I'VE READ AND IT HAS BEEN A TRUE BLESSING TO ME.
Wait a minute, with all due respect, your profile said that your are the Senior Pastor of a church with the word "Academy" in its name and you would actually discourage people from going to Seminary? I can certainly take a joke, but the education of our fellow ministers is not a laughing matter. This is not to say that I believe seminary to be a cure-all, but remember a call to ministry is a call to be prepared in the best way we can. Remember, these schools offer a lot more than just Matthew Henry. Sometimes exposure to other cultures and doctrines can improve and strengthen us.
Bravo, a man who speaks as though he understand the purpose of an education.
