I am trying to figure out where did those kinds of tongues come from. The Greek word for Tongues Is Glossa. Glossa means a language or dialect that is spoken.

In Acts 2:7-11 - And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”

The tongues 2,000 yrs ago were actual languages that people spoke without the instruction of humans. It was from God.

There is no such thing as the la la la la la na na na ahhkdljkdjkdjdk tongues you hear today---mainly from the holiness, apostolic, pentecostal/azuza arena.

Where are the REAL tongues!

Speaking the real language of heaven is so awesome
There are no real tongues, but there is Major Deceit! It was so easy to learn to speak in tongues to prove I was really saved. All I had to do was find somebody close and repeat what they said. LOL
Whats up man. I believe you have your Greek a little mixed up. Glossa has nothing to do with a "heavenly language". We must keep it in context. Understand, the so called "unknown" languages were not languages from heaven, but were earthly languages they never heard before. Glossa is the meaning of earthly tongues.

The only languages in the area in that time was Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew. These people came from all over Africa, Europe, and Asia Minor, with languages different than what the Jews were use to hearing. That is why the languages were not understood, until the Spirit gave them utterance.
I never said God's word is a lie. But, despite what you hear as far as "heavenly language", that does not exist. All that la la la be askhkddhkhd tongues is not tongues, but babble.

The gift of tongues is the ability to speak in human languages without the instruction of people. The people at pentecost did not speak a heavenly language, but they spoke in human tongues.
Lol, mar, I do not think you are following where I am coming from. If you are born here, and you speak english, you would not have the gift of tongues to speak english. How can I call God's word a lie when the word does not teach that "heavenly languages" are spoken?
Most Christians go by whats "read". I go by whats "meant". Without an understanding of its history, culture, and customs, you'll continue to just read what the bible "says". I rather go with what the bible MEANS.
lol brother
what does 1 Tim 3:5-9 have anything to do with tongues?
lol who knows
I said that?
lol oh yea. i dunno why i said that.
Ok. I assume its about the tongues part. Now, there's debate on whether or not the last half of Mark(Mark 16:9-21) is even authentic, and one of the original sayings of Jesus. But, lets say that it is, and preferably verse 17, concerning the tongues part.

One can say that its referring to the day of Pentecost, where tongues of fire fell on believers. The tongues that fell on them were actual, earthly tongues that people spoke. They did not speak the jibberish that you hear screaming from the mouths of Apostolics, Pentecostals, and COGIC. The ma honda hee nnaaaaaaa dhidhdhd... thats not tongues at all. They spoke real languages without the instruction of humans, but the Holy Spirit gave them utterance to speak.
