Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

This topic has been going and going and going to no end but I will simply say this, in the Bible times they wore robes men and women, no socks, no panty hose, no heels. Time brings about a change, in our lives, our financial status, our environment, out atmosphere, our social status, our apparel, our transportation, our homes, our churches etc. Attempting to justify a woman wearing pants is improper in the first place because those rules of dress codes were written for those times that is why Jesus left us a teacher called the HOLY GHOST! If my dress is too short the HOLY GHOST DOWN ON THE INSIDE OF ME WILL CONVICT ME. People are so caught up on the outside appearance of people that they have lost the vision of what the real purpose of God calling a Holy Nation. Should we still be wearing robes then is that is what many are basing their opinions off of in the Bible. We have to rightly divide the scriptures not quote them according to what or how we think someone should dress or live but how God says they should, holy and sanctified. In the Bible days they covered everything with sack cloth should we wear that today? People keep an open mind when ministering I go into the streets and minister to very lightly clad prostitutes but to me their soul is no different than my sister or brother fully dressed. We need to focus on what is really important and stop all these church politics and holier than thou attitudes and allow the Holy Ghost to teach us.

I agree with what you said about IF THEY WILL RECEIVE YOU IN THE DRESS, THEN WEAR THE DRESS & ALLOW THE WORD TO COME FORTH!  When I am sent into RELIGIOUS houses, I wear dresses & allow That HOLY GHOST to do what HE does THROUGH me! But again forreal IT"S RELIGION & TRADITIONS OF MEN!!

I want to invite everyone on this site to our Church in Ball ground Ga, we don't care what you wear, if all you have is a moo-moo wear it, if you have to come in your pajamas wear them, just GO TO CHURCH. We have very few traditions, the greatest is you love the Lord your GOD with all you heart, mind and soul, another is if the Holy Ghost bids you to shout, you Shout, just follow the leadership of the Holy Ghost, The only rule we have is "You must have a testimony to join, you must be born again. If you don't or your not, then you really are a special guest. Just come as you are.

love it!

It is all RELIGION & TRADITIONS OF MEN!!  These two things have bashed women for YEARS in the pulpits. But GOD...!! will use you with your pants on!  Because of JESUS!!
That's just the spirit of religion....where man mixes the WORD with tradition and try to pass it as law.  There is no truth to tradition, it is just the way of the world set to a religious tone.

PRAISE THE LORD,MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS A ''QUESTION'' WE SHOULD ASK OURSELVES ARE WE SAVED BY THE FAITH AND THE BELIEF THAT WE HAVE FOR,OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST? ARE BY THE CLOTHES WE HAVE ON.ALSO,WHAT DOES THE SAVIOUR SEE WHEN HE''JESUS''LOOKS DOWN ON HIS SHEEP.AMEN..I PRAY THAT EVERYONE ON THIS SITE OF OUR,LORD AND SAVIOUR HAVE A GREAT AND GOD BLESS DAY FROM MY HEART.AMEN.

I offer the following language study for those who would like a better understanding of the Hebrew meaning (understanding) of the often miss understood and misused passage of Deuteronomy 22:5

The bottom line is simply this:

Religious men fear strong women. A Proverbs 8 woman is not experienced by men as the blessing she is, but as a threat, as competition for leadership (read, dominance).Today, In the middle east, this fear of women has increased into a full paranoia. This is evidenced by the fact that it takes two or more men to beat a woman in public if she is not escorted by a male member of her household. Since the beating up of women is still outlawed here in the west, we have to settle for spiritual intimidation, i.e. you are going to hell if you fail to meet the standards edict of the local pastor, which changes from pastor to pastor.

Biblical standards are seldom questioned or ignored, however, rules and regulations of men are most often challenged by the saints. The reasons are self evident. Biblical standards support one's liberty in the Spirit of God and are generally embraced by the love one has for their God. On the other hand, man's standards are controlling and restrictive and are enforced by indoctrination, intimidation, and implied (unearned) guilt.

Yet, even with all of this, it does not mean that women are all guiltless in the purpose of their dress, actions and speach. While we hear so much about the weakness of men who fall into moral bankruptcy - remember, there is usually a woman involved too!

Bottom line: Let's all take care and consider the motives for what we say and do, and take responsibility for the results of our actions.

I have been thinking about your comments. Absolutly wonderful!

Now, consider.

When Adam committed the first sin (yes, it was Adam because he was a witness to the events between Eve and the serpent) and he did not exercise his authority to stop Eve from taking the 'fruit', he failed in his responsibility to rule effectively over God's creation, as he was instructed to. However, after his failure, what did he do when confronted by God? He scapegoated Eve - it was that woman YOU gave me - she did it!

Today, men still will not take responsibility for their actions (or inaction) and they continue to set all kids of standards (rules) for women, so they don't have to confront and take responsibility their own failings and weakness. Even so, this assumes that the ladies will take the scriptures seriously and dress modestly, and not in a manner designed to entice men into moral sin. When one tempts another into sin, they are doing the devil's work and are engaged in sin themselves, and they are not guiltless before God.

Yet, with all of these words it is the husband/father who has been set as the head of the family, not the pastor or some other spiritual leader. But, where is the family today? It is all but destroyed.

I would suggest that there three things that contribute to the death of the biblical family. (1) Children allowed to engage in sex outside of marriage without having any consequences (e.g. abortion), (2) Girls are encouraged to have babies - actually being paid to have them (increased welfare payments), while the baby's father is often allowed to escape any responsibility for his own child. and (3) spiritual leaders (pastors and their wives) who have set themselves up as acting parents over the men and women of a congregation including the family's children. That is not biblical. So, many of our own spiritual leaders are guilty of abetting in the destruction of the family unit.

As I am noted for saying: There are no stand alone verses in the Bible. The scriptures are a fully integrated revelation of God. As a result, there are no individual, stand alone issues or doctrines - everything impacts and influences everything else. This truism is reflected in our everyday lives. Everything that effects one part of our body, mind, spirit will have an effect on another part of our body, spirit or mind, and so it goes until our entire being is involved. Cut off a toe to test the theory. Lose a loved one and go to work and see how well you perform your job. Or,lose your job, get robed, get the flue, etc.You get the picture. So teachers of the word of God, start teaching the responsibility of individuals to themselves and to others. What it means and what is required of mothers and fathers, husbands and wives. Teach accountability to ones self, family, the body of Christ, and to Christ Himself. Teach the assembly their individual and collective responsibility to our God, rather than what we can get out of Him. To be servants rather than consumers.

It is past time for everyone to start working out their own salvation with fear and trembling.
