Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

Quite agree.  Good answer Reyna!!

That is all I am saying on the 'Pants' topic anyway.  Oh dear, I think I said that before!!  Well there I go again, blurting out the fact that I ain't perfect either.  Thank God For Jesus, without Him none of us can do anything.

Bless you all and good night.

Rev Dave

There are seven (7) days in the week. Why not give God your best on Sunday and wear a dress or skirt? I'm just saying!
CAN I OPEN A CAN OF WORMS? I DO GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY BUT THE SABBATH DAY IS REALLY SATURDAY. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GIVE GOD OUR BEST EVERYDAY! WE HAVE THE10 COMMANDMENTS AND THE 7 DEADLY SINS, IN TITUS IT STATES TO GIVE 1/10 OF ALL INCREASE. HOW MUCH MORE WOULD HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES SPIRITUALLY IF WE GAVE 1/10 OF OUR TIME DAILY?! THATS 2.4 HOURS! IT WOULD CUT OUT ALOT OF GOSSIPING,BACKBITING,SEWING DISCORD AMONG BRETHEN,GLUTTONY ETC.!

I don't say much - but when people look on the outside - that's just what they see - the outside - God looks on the inside - that's what needs to be clean -  In Galations chapter 5 and in 1 Corinthians chapter 6 - it tells you who will definitely NOT make it in. -  and in the bible where it says that a woman shouldnt wear anything pertaining to a man - you have to look at the context - and read the whole thing!! IT it talking about cross dressing!!! women shouldn't wear ANY men's clothing (clothing made for men) and men shouldn't be wearing women clothing - clothing made for Women.  or if that's the case - the one's that are complaining about women wearing pants - they betta check ALL the labels on their clothing and make sure they are wearing a COMPLETE outfit of the same fabric!!! NOT a mixture - ouch - i think i stepped on some toes Hope.

you havent stepped on toes just brought out more pertenant facts.Clothes won't take you to or keep you from heaven. Its just that shunning the mere appearance of evil or peoples perception of you has a lot to do with serving God. If you see a military person you can tell which branch by the clothes that they wear. The Amish you can distinguish by the clothes that they wear. They are all on one accord. If a preacher comes to church with a blood red suit ,a hat with a feather plume, big diamond ring would you percieve him as a PIMP? or Holy Ghost filled? The next week he comes to church with a new caddy and 3 fly woman with jeans or pants , fake lashes blond hair and high heels. Then on the other hand you have another preacher who comes to church with a dark suit,he comes to church with 3 ladies with knee or calf length dresses natural skin ,who will you feel comfortable giving your tythes to?

i agree - the key word - unsaved - and these outward things that people are looking at - that is hurting the 'church' but... the 'church' to some people is a four walled building' .....hmmmm ...

So - you still focused on FABRIC!!!

I forgot to say in the USA - because of other nationalities and I do know they were talking about military issues - but it's just the thought of someone sending someone away who is thirsty for a word from God and they tell they shouldn't wear pants -- I wear pants and dresses - but i was thirty at one time and was seeking HIM and I was told that I shouldn't be wearing pants in church!! I turned around and walked out - and went to a white church - and what did i see - hmmmm --- and that day - i received what i was looking for - new direction - I went back to the other church that evening and I asked to speak to the preacher's wife - she met me at the door - i told her what happened - she was upset - that was my first time ever stepping foot in a church - and i told her that - i had been thinking about suicide cause things were not going right - which was true - and all i needed was to hear a word - just one word - i wasnt saved - i wasn't living right - really didn't have a clue about what Jesus could do for me - People need to realize that they could be hurting someone aweful.  Especially in these days and times.

I agreed with you,we as servants need to be just that servants. People are hurting every day, we need to look at the heart not the outward part of a person.. God love you, for you, not what you are wearing.

GOOD

you can take the Bible and use it to prove any point you want to make...but God will not endorse it. Are you more concerned about a woman's pants than what is going on in her heart? and please don't tell me that if her heart is right that she won't wear pants. That's not in the Word. people suicidal, on drugs, drinking behind closed doors, suffering from all kinds of trauma, stress, sickness and abuse and you have no power to help them. Why? because you are concerned with the wrong thing. Jah ain't asleep...

There are no scriptures  that say men or women should not wear pants. !   Pants however was invented as male attire and has been used as such since its invention in the 6th century BC - SO yes even though it was not  popular in the Jewish Roman dominated culture of Jesus Christ, Pants were around during that time worn by the Greeks and  Iranians. It was a cultural no-no for the Romans,  they did not like them.  Eventually Pants became the Standard dress for men around the world  As the Differences between what was acceptable and what was not acceptable for men and women changed  in the 1970's it became popular and fashionable for women to wear pants.  Before 1970 most women did not wear pants and those who did were look down upon in society christian or non christian. Now the definition of  being Holy Calls us to be Distinct.  So therefore if you look the same act the same walk the same talk the same do the same things as the majority of the populous then you cannot be holy as per definition.   How far do you have to go to be considered holy, I am not sure but it is a great thing if we could do things that would set us apart from the majority of the population, It can be in our dress, our way of walking talking our business decisions our company we keep our  manner fo speech. So wearing skirts for women that normally wear pants can be a sign of submission to the Lord for her  and we should not take that away.

However if  you take advantage to the other ways to be holy and distinct and you are wearing womens  pants, I do not see what the problem is just as long as you are  Holy!  I Applaud women that wear skirts because it is more constricting and pants are easier to deal with especially in winter.  If we are going to create a way of how women have to be distinct with apparel,  I think it is fair for the Church to incorporate a distinct dress for the men as well.  If not then we should leave the women alone. As a Pastor I am working on this very issue and hopefully will come to some form of conclusion on the matter soon. I will let you know-  However be well assured that pants does not make a woman or a man unholy in an of itself.  It really is in our hearts, however God does want us to be distinct on the outside where people see us.
