Hi James,
Every text does not have to be a systematic book by book as long as the text delivered in its context, it is Expository.
@Rev. Derek Joshua E'Lon; There are a lot in Texas. Dr. Tony Evans, Dr. Paul Cannings, Dr. Ivory Varner and more.
@ James There are many more I am an expository preacher and there are more and more coming out of bible college and seminary every year.
@ Marlene I'm Sorry if you do not go through a book verse by verse than you ready don't know that book or it's content.
@Pastor Sweet, no text can be preached without researching the context of the book, chapter and verse; I think you may have missed my point. I seldom if ever have heard a black preacher preach expositorily a book of the bible, I don't mean a Series from a book, I mean a verse by verse preaching of the bible. My current pastor is currently doing a book by book, verse by verse (Expository Bible Study); seldom will you find this also in the black church because it requires intense study. Truth be told, it seldom if NEVER happen!
What we are more inclined to is to use a verse of scripture as a launching pad to say what ever it is we want to say and then say the spirit led us that way. That my brother is NOT expository preaching. Thanks for your time and your ear.
