Deuteronomy 22:5- "A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God."(New King James Version)

Most of the Apostolic Faith churches use this scripture to defend the argument that women are not supposed to wear pants. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against the Apostolic Faith people because they're my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. I just disagree with some parts of their doctrine.

Deuteronomy 22:5 doesn't necessarily mean that a woman is not supposed to wear pants. This scripture talks about cross-dressing and transvestism. Yes, there are people who would dress to try to be the member of the opposite sex and live as a member of the opposite sex. What this scripture meant is that transvestism and cross-dressing are sins. Also for you guys, don't dress like Dennis Rodman.

It's nothing wrong with women wearing pants as long as they don't wear the pants to try to be men nor try to look like stereotypical lesbians (lesbians playing the butch role). Remember, women will never be men no matter how they try. There are some of the pants that pertains to women including hip huggers, flares, capris, and clamdiggers. Yes, it's possible for a man to wear pants to play the role of a woman because he would wear hip huggers.

Another note, just because a woman wears pants that doesn't mean that she's not holy. Holiness is not about what you wear, it's about your heart. It's possible for a person to look holy and not be holy at the same time. It's not what you wear, it's how your wear. Bottom line: Dress in modesty. You don't have to look old fashioned and plain.

I hope this message and clarification would be a help and blessing to you. Feel free to respond to me and repost this bulletin as "Clarification of Deuteronomy 22:5".

Its like Jesus said to the Pharisies. They were so worried about the washing of the cup and hands before eating, and Jesus told them its not whats on the outside but whats on the inside that matters. I know these are not the exact words, but you get the meaning. Its whats in our hearts. We know when we are dressing like a woman and women when they try and dress like a man. Some folks just get so caught up on the little details that really dont matter. I think it was also said that the will strain for the nats but swallow a camel.

If god did not want women wearing pant he would CLEARLY point it out. Instead he knew that men were dressing like women and vice a versa for homosexuality purposes. So he told us not to do it. If a women puts on a sweatshirt to go for a run and it happens to be her husband is she breaking Gods law. NO!

But she is dressing like a man. NO SHE ISNT. She is wearing a mans shirt to be warm not to be a man. The intention in her heart is what God is talking about.
Very real! They followed man's traditions and not God's law. Jesus said starting with Matt 15:1 - 11. Jesus called them hypocrites because they drew near to Him with their mouth and honored Him with their lips, but their heart is far from Him. But in vain they did worship Him, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. He told them it's not that which goes into the mouth that defiles a man but that which comes out of the mouth that defiles a man. (I'm saying this in my words but it's what is meant) It's still the same today in the world of religion.
Exactly and that's just what Jesus was saying and meaning. So many people follow man's traditions (made up by men) than God's Laws today as they did when religion was created.
The part in the bible that I was referring to is the following. He wasnt talking about dishes. He was talking about people. Its not what on the outside that makes a person. Its what starts onthe inside. Just as The The big 'J" said. The intention of our hearts will reflect everything else on the outside. Back then if a man were to wear the garmets and jewels as a women did it was most likely for Homosexual reasons, and that is what was really being said. I dont think God cares if we wear pink, blue green or whatever color. But if our heart and mind is not in the right place then yes its wrong. Because looks at the scotts, they wear skirts. Does that mean they are breaking Gods rules. NO of course not. They are not doing it to defy God. NOr is it leading anyone from the path.

I think so often people get caught up in the legalistic's of the word. When in reality it comes down to a coupld of simple things. Does this effect my salvation or the salvation of others? Am I breaking 2 of the greatest commandments God set up? IF you answer yes then your in trouble.

Faith and works will follow. Works and no faith, then all you are doing is following is being just like in the old days. Rules will not get us to heaven. But if you follow the 2 greatest commandments then all the rules will come into place.

Matthew 23:24-26
24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Hi dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

I also thank all of you for your Deuteronomy 22:5 "CLARIFICATION."

But, surprising as it may seem, John, Maxcina Gadsden, Teresa, and Justin Sudler don't wear the same clothings. I see your pictures. Both men and women should wear the same clothes so that your messages, your biblical demonstrations can be true...

Anyway, the Bible says:" For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."

2 Timothy 4: 3-4

May God bless you all.

HELLO EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
ACCORDING TO BIBILICAL HISTORY; OF THE ISRAELITES COSTUME OF MEN AND WOMEN CLOTHING, THEIR GARMENTS WERE VERY SIMILAR; HOWEVER TO DISTINGUISH THE SEXES, THERE WAS SUFFICIENT DIFFERENCES, IT WAS FORBIDDEN FOR WOMEN TO WEAR THE APPENDAGES SUCH AS THE SIGNET RING CARRY THE STAFF AND OTHER ORNAMENTS OF A MAN. AS WELL AS FOR MEN TO WEAR THE OUTER GARMENT (OUTER ROBE) OF A WOMAN.
THIS PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE ACCORDING TO BIBLICAL REFERENCES; INVOLVES THE PHYSICAL WEARING OF, AND THE MORAL ACT, FEELING AND CHARACTER OF THEIR DISPOSITION AS IT REFERS TO THE WEARING OF THAT WHICH IS CONFORMED TO THE STANDARD WEAR FOR MEN AND WOMEN.
SKIRT WAS REFERRED TO AS THE EDGE, THE END, OR THE BORDER OF THE GARMENT AS THE BOTTOM PART OF WHAT WE CALL THE SHIRT, BLOUSE, DRESS, ETC. THAT PART WAS THEN CALLED THE SKIRT OF THE GARMENT
THE CLOTHING WEAR THAT WAS COMMON WAS: THE INNER GARMENT WHICH WAS CLOSELY FITTED; RESEMBLING IN FORM AND USE OF OUR SHIRT, TRANSLATED COAT IN THE AUTHORIZED KJV OF THE BIBLE. IT WAS WITH OR WITHOUT SLEEVES AND REACHED TO THE KNEES OR TO THE WRIST AND ANKLES, KEPT CLOSE TO THE BODY BY A GIRDLE (SASH, OR WAISTBAND) WHAT WE CALL A BELT, IT WAS MADE OF WOOL COTTON OR LINEN--THIS GARMENT WAS SAID TO HAVE BEEN WORN EQUALLY BY BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. AND ANYONE WEARING THIS GARMENT ALONE WAS CONSIDERED NAKED.
THERE WAS AN UPPER OR SECOND TUNIC THAT WAS LONGER THEN THE FIRST, THE LINEN CLOTH APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN A WRAPPER USED IN VARIOUS WAYS, ESPECIALLY AS A NIGHT SHIRT. MARK 14:51
THE OUTER GARMENT CONSISTED OF QUADRANGULAR PIECES OF WOOLEN CLOTH, THE SIZE AND TEXTURE VARIED DEPENDING ON THE WEARER, AND WORN IN VARIOUS WAYS EX: WRAPPED AROUND THE BODY, OVER THE SHOULDERS LIKE A SHAWL; WITH THE ENDS OR SKIRT HANGING DOWN IN FRONT OR WORN OVER THE HEAD TO CONCEAL THE FACE, 2ND SAM. 15:30.
THE ENDS OR SKIRT OF THIS OUTER GARMENT WAS FRINGED AND BOUND WITH DARK PURPLE RIBBON; CONFINED AT THE WAIST BY A GIRDLE (SASH, WAISTBAND) NUM.15:38,39.
THE DRESS OF THE WOMEN DIFFERED FROM THAT OF THE MEN; IN REGARDS TO THE OUTER GARMENT, IT HAD AMPLE FRINGE AT THE BORDER OR SKIRT, OF AMPLE DIMENSIONS, THE GARMENT WAS OF LIVELY COLORS AND COVERED THE WOMENS FEET.
THE OUTER GARMENT WOULD BE TAKEN OFF OR GIRDED UP AS THE OCCASION AROSE EX: WORKING, AT HOME, TRAVELING OR AT WAR (GIRDED UP).

The Growth of a Media and Consumer Influence on Society
Hollywood Influence

In the 1940s and 1950s American culture became very dominant in Europe. The influence of movie films and the prominence of film stars set the fashion in manners, make-up, hair and clothes. Women, girls, men and youths all desired look-alike copies of outfits, accessories and jewelery worn by the most popular screen idols. It was widely believed that Hollywood glamor would rub off on you if you had the clothes and developed the look. One way to achieve the look was to make your own clothes and customize them so they had a similar look to fashions worn by celebrities of the day.
Dressmaking Your Own Couture Fashions

You can see how stylish and elegant some of these c1951 fashion designer sketches for garment patterns are in this image below. This 1951 pattern collage I've made below is from images all courtesy of Michelle Lee .

It it amazing how are society has changed in it's Fashion Today. Because Hollywood has SET the pattern for the world today. What was Wrong is Now Right! And what was Right is Now Wrong! In the 50's it was considered wrong for a women to wear pants. The bible even tells us it was considered to the Lord Thy God as an abomination.

Deuteronomy 22:5- "A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God."(New King James Version)

Why can't we get back to the basics of Life in his Word? After all who are you following? God and His word? OR Hollywood and all it has to offer? Are you Looking to please God? Or are you looking to please Man? These are All Questions you should ask yourself, when you get dressed! WHO OR WHAT WILL YOU REPRESENT TODAY?
As For Me Call me old fashioned but I love the Lord enough to obey his word not in dress only. But in every Way I seek to please God because has called me out of the world. God Bless you today! Love In Christ,Della Morton
Also Patterns of 1959

These 12 pattern covers below both show styles of 1959. You can see how the bouffant skirt was at its peak and contrasted with slim sheath dresses. The straighter less shaped styles are beginning to emerge in the bottom row and looser less fitted over blouse tops, less focused on the natural waist, are a developing fashion line that would take off in the 60s.

1959 old dress patterns showing full and new looser tops and straight styles as the decade progresses.

What do we do about the New Testament scripture:

1 Tim 2:9-10 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Im not sure that a woman wearing pants is very modest or shamefacedness or sober. Think about the garment that she is wearing:

Each leg individually covered right up to her 'hoochey koo koo' . Whats modest about that?
It directs guys vision right up to her crotch.

If you said - well she has a tunic that drops well below her behind I think you may be able to get away with that.
But something tells me if you were to tell holy women they can wear pants but wear a top that does not show their behinds or crotches - they would still come up with a good reason to not abide.
And are there well dressed women that wear the crotches so low they are close to their knees?....No.

According to the New Testament scriptures - she should dress in modest (bashful) apparel - Showing crotches and behinds aint modest.

Consider I Cor 12:23 -
...and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty...
In other words:
And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment.

Consider Rom 14:21 -
...It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
