Enantios is also used as a metaphor.  Meaning -

a) opposed as an adversary, hostile, antagonistic in feeling or act

b) an opponent

I am suggesting that the devil (demonic spirits) is at work and quite often times comes against the plan of God (Jesus).  I also am suggesting that with every assignment from God their is an assigned adversary.

I believe that you are giving a literal and natural description of the events that occured in Matthew 14.  This is fine.  I look at scripture and go to the spirit.  Now for you to understand the spiritual warfare that was taking place in Matthew 14 would require you to have a certain level of spiritual understanding, and personal experience.  This is where you and I differ.

You would have to understand that your adversary is the prince of the power of the air to start.   You would also have to understand a little something about the spirit world and how it operates.  Nothing happens in the life of a child of God by chance or luck.

I believe that your study of the 10 plagues of the Exodus have all been rationally explained as natural occurences by renown scientist.  This all might well be true.  If you do not believe that the spirit world is in control of nature than Matthew 14 would also be hard to grasp as I have explained.

I don't understand all there is to know about spiritual warfare.  I will continue to learn until I see Jesus.  I submit that in order to increase your spiriual understanding you will have to understand the following concepts:

1.  There exist only good & evil and nothing in between.

2.  Man is influenced by either the power of heaven or hell.

3.  Angels and Demons are assigned to do good or evil in the earth.

4.  The spirit world directly impacts the natural world.

When you understand the above you will began to have a greater spirtual awareness.  You will see good (God) and evil (Satan) in the world.  You will only see and operate in the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Satan.  There is nothing else.

Finally you state, "But I guess I just don't see demons in everything..."  You should either see the hand of God, Satan or both.  To believe that you operate independent would be a mistake.

Please provide your analysis of the 10 Exodus plagues.  Was God following behind nature or was nature following God?

Pharaoh's magicians (sorcery & witchcraft) were operating under the power of Satan (devil/hell).  "Free Will" affords us the right to obey or disobey God.  Ephesians 2:2, "Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:"

I believe that we can agree that the disciples did not recogonize Jesus because of fear, and that fear alters perception and that this type of fear is not of God.

2 Peter 2:4, "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;"  I believe that most people are able to see a correlation between the devil and hell.  Remember that it is written, the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.  Have a blessed New Year.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7

"Evil" in this verse translates "Calamity". God was in control of the plagues in Egypt.
