I say no! All sin seperates us from a loving God. It was out of His love for us that he died on a cross and crucified all sin paying it's debt. Homosexuals are not hated by God and they are not hated by me. The sin they are in is no different than the sin that I struggle with day to day. Be careful about hate, it will eat you from the inside out. Love people, all people the way Christ loves you and me.

Sin is always death. The sin of homosexuals comes with horrible consequences. So does the sin of drunkeness and idolitry and so the list goes on and on. Jesus is the solution and the salvation for all men and for all sin. Thius may not be popular, but standing for Christ and resting in His word has never been the most popular thing to do. Love your neigbor is not a choice. Hate the sin love the sinner is what I have been told.

Brother Hosey.

This is an interesting topic, and I would like to offer up some things I found in scripture relating to what you have asked. First, your question "is there a sin that is any worse than another?" The answer is YES, per Jesus Christ in John 19:11, Jesus has an exchange with Pilate regarding his refusal to answer Pilate's questions. Pilate threatens Jesus with his so-called power to free him and Jesus responds, "(verse 11) You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." Clearly there is a distinction between sins, but I think the precise perspective is that in forgivability and penalty, they are all the same, but in severity, they are not. If I have misinterpreted this verse, it was not intentional, however I think this does present a clear answer.

Also, I would like to addess your comment, "sin is always death." This is potentially inaccurate because, as it is written, it appears to conflict with 1 John 5:16 which reads, "If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that." Again, if I have misunderstood your point, or the verse of scripture, I don't intend to do that. I'm open to your perspective on what appears to be clearly explained in scripture.

In the end, the focus is truly on operating according to Kingdom principles, so whether sin is all the same or not isn't the goal, and I'm sure this is the perspective of nearly all believers interested in submission to the Lord. Thanks for the interesting topic!

The only sin that leds to eternal death is unforgiven sin. The sin that leads to death (natural death) is considered by many to be a state of constant rebellion against God whereby He removes the believer from the earth due to his poor testimony. Others have interpreted this verse to mean spiritual death or loss of salvation due to rebellion or rejection of God's invitation to grace and forgiveness. Sin all sin was payed for on the cross, but it benefits no man who does not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus for salvation. Judas could have been forgiving if he had repented and believed. Peter was saved because he did confess the Lord Jesus and recieved His offer of forginess. The point is clear - Jesus death is a picture of sin's tragic consequence, death. God's provision should cause us all to strive for godliness and holy living. We are fallen creatures saved by grace awaiting a home in heaven where there is no sin. Until then we like the Apotle Paul, must struggle as he describes in Romans 7. Thanks Brother, I appreciate your insight and agree 100%
Good point, my brother.
are you refering ti the sin of unbelief? The Holy Spirit draws men through conviction. When we reject the conviction over time it grieves the HS. Maybe you can explain. I would love to hear somemore
THIS was the "EXACT" scripture I was going to post but YOU beat me too it Rev. Luckett....I AGREE with you "whole" heartedly.....There IS a sin that WILL NOT be forgiven and that is "BLASPHEMY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT".....Amen!....Aaaaaallll other sin is forgiven EEeeeven speaking a word against the Son of Man....my, my, my!!!..And your commentary speaks Grrrreat with Truth....God Bless Ya!!
Reverend Luckett, I set up a blog on that very topic. Still waiting to here from my seasoned brothers and sisters in the ministry.

Blessings,

Minister Carolyn
I have given this a lot of thought and this discussion has brought me back to the first scripture I ever memorized. John 3:16 "For God so loved the World (us sinners) that he gave (for payment of sin) His one and only Son (the sinless Lamb of God). that whosoever (I love that word. It tells me that even me, a defiled sinner and hopelessly lost in my sin was without hope and lost in a sinful world) believes (repents and trust the finished work of Christ on the cross (God's sacrifice is the one true picture of His view of sin and its consequense, which is death) shall be saved (forever forgiven and washed clean from sins eternal consequence).

Yes sin occurs on different levels and yes keeping His commandments will mean a wonderful life, but when we fail we cling to His cross and experience his grace and His love. One sins consequences may outweigh another, but to God it was all sin that he paid for not just some sin. One sin is enough to send you to an eternal seperation from God. His forgiveness does not just cover the "bad sins" it covers all sin. One sin may mean a destroyed marriage or it may mean being dishonest to your boss when you call in sick when you are not. but all sin is just that sin. be thankful that God loves the death row inmate just like He loves you a sinner saved by grace.
Amen!
Sin is sin, no matter how you look at. No sin is greater than the other, it is not written, that if one committs adultery and one committs murder, that adultery is worse than murder, no they both carry the same weight, they are sin no matter how you look at it. Again sin is sin.

Good point. Sin is sin, but it does differ according to the consequences. Romans 3:23 - The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal Life. There are the seven deadly sins, which seem to indicate God's disapproval of certain sins more than others, And then there is the list of things God hates. It is not a pretty site to fall into the hands of an angry God, but thanks be to God we can be free from sin's ultimate penalty through the substitutionary death of His Son on the cross and resurrection from the dead for all of us sinners. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Sin is missing the mark, it does lead to death, it has been dealt with by Jesus, who died and paid the penalty for all our sins that we might receive forgiveness. How do we know this, the Bible says it, however just like the Bible says that it also seems to indicate that there are degrees to sin. Consider this, the Bible says that adultry marks a man. The Bible says there are sins of the flesh and sins of the heart. Why was David's sin forgiven and Saul's was not. What about where the Bible says there are sin's unto death, we can't pray for relief from, but there are other sins that we can become involved in and we can receive prayer by our brothers and sisters in the faith and be forgiven. What about the unpardonable sin, the Bible says that we can sin against God, we can sin against Jesus and find forgiveness, but to sin against the Holy Spirit is unpardonable, why? What about the sins that God considers to be an abomination. What about the angels that are locked in pits of eternal darkness that the Bible says left their first estate and the sins that if committed instantly qualified you for death, to lay with a beast, to lay with a man. So you see, in spite of what our opinions are God's word is the final authority and it shows that although all sins bring death, God deems some sins worse than other. Homosexuality is an abomination before God. Does God hate the homosexual, no. Did Jesus die for the homosexual, yes. Can the homosexual find grace and mercy in the eyes of God, yes. God hates the sin. Jehovah will judge all sin because it is an afront to Him. Elohim, the one who stands in a covenant relationship ratified by an oath, says "I will never leave you nor forsake you." No matter how marred by sin you are I will never abandon you to sin. I will always leave you a way of escape. That is why Jesus was marred beyond recognition, that is the same impact that sin has on man and the image of God in him. God set the sun in the sky and left it to its daily course. He set the oceans in their beds and they do not exceed their boundaries, but man, He is ever mindful of Him and has had His hands on him remolding him and reshaping him, He continues to visit him and will continue until He is transformed into the image of His son. God gives us a space of time to repent and if we do we are able to find redemption. If we seek Him while He can be found and call on Him while He is near. However the problem is that sin blinds us, and we often deceive ourselves into thinking that we are ok and we don't need redemption. When we refuse to retain God in our knowledge the Bible says that at some point, who knows when, He gives us up to a reprobate spirit or in other words His gives us over to our desires and at that point there is no escape.
Amen and AMEN!!! You put it as well as it can be said, Jesus is the only remedy for a world lost in sin. I heard a radio preacher this morning say, the way to heaven is by good works. If that was the case why did Jesus, innoccent of all sin become sin for us a die a horrible death. We are all born dead in our sins and must be washed in the blood of the lamb!
