Where does the church stand on what is being called marriage equality?

I would like to hear from Christians & Leaders on where they stand when it comes to marriage equality? Do we as the church have a role to play with this issue? What would it mean for us to be "salt & light" (Matthew 5:13-16) when this issue is presented in our communities?

As Believers can we choose to sit on the sidelines while this agenda is being pushed? In light of scripture (Romans 18-32) what position do you take on this agenda and why?

As a minister of the gospel, I must believe what the bible teaches about marriage. When God created Adam and saw that it was not good for man to be alone, so He put Adam to sleep, and took a rib, then formed He a woman. When Adam awoke he said bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh. This is marriage equality, and this is how God intended it to be. Shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh. This is the only marriage that the Word of God accepts, and  we must believe the truth, for the truth will set you free. God told the man and the woman to be fruitful, and multiply. This can only be done in a heterosexual marriage. So God knew what He was doing when He created Adam and Eve who is the mother of all living.

Minister George I appreciate you articulating your believe through the use of scripture....to me that is the believers only method of ensuring that they are following the plan of God. I do have a follow up question; the black church has normally been very silent on this issue, why do you believe that is....I am not talking about 1 or 2 groups here and there but as a whole we have cow-towed to the left leaning opinion in society and have not been standard bearers of the truth.......why do you believe black believers are not more involved in standing on God's Word?

Do you believe that we think that this issue is not harmful to our kids and the teachings they will receive in school based on the perception that we do not see it as God does?

Some Pastors in the Black Church do not want to offend members who may be leaning in that belief, and therefore do not address the issue as the scriptures tell us to obey God, and not man. This issue of being politically correct without being true to the whole counsel of God, this is damaging to children for we must be sure that they are taught the whole Word of God on these issues. The home is under attack, and with many homes lacking male influence in the Black Church is causing many to fall away from the truth. The Apostle Paul warned us before the coming of the Lord, that there would be a falling away from the truth unto fables. We are living in these days when it is more popular to preach fables than the truth. Yet we must preach the Word in season, and out of season.

I can see by the lack of participation in this topic, that as are having a dialog on this issue, many believers are not yet comfortable saying "no matter what the world says, I believe God's Word to be Truth" That is not a typo, I said Truth because Jesus stated that He was the Truth and the Life and in John we see that He is the Word made flesh.

I am a firm believer that if you love God, then you will love His Word and stand on it alone.

Hello there,

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I define marriage the same way that Jesus did in the Gospels (when speaking to Pharisees in Matthew 19) as a heterosexual union.

When it comes to the issue of homosexual pseudo-'marriage', Believers must understand that we are not merely dealing with a political movement, a cultural movement, or even a homosexual activist movement. What we are dealing with is a push towards sexual anarchy (global acceptance of all forms of sexual sin -- including pederasty, pedophilia, and so on). People have always been living in sexual sin, but this push towards sexual anarchy was spear-headed long before the homosexual activist movement. It began with removing the social stigma on sex outside of marriage and promiscuity. Once sex was divorced from the institution of marriage and the purpose of pro-creation, it was no longer deemed sinful, immoral, or risque to have sex outside of marriage and have multiple sex partner just for "pleasure." But of course, since one of the main purposes of sex is pro-creation -- unmarried couples conceived, and not wanting to raise these children -- there was a "need" for abortion or the legalization of baby-murder to avoid the consequences of their sinful actions. So the push for abortion here in America actually came from the push towards sexual anarchy.

Once premarital sex became socially acceptable (and even glorified in the mainstream media and entertainment industries), the next point on the agenda was homosexuality. Now that homosexuality is becoming socially acceptable (and even promoted as "trendy" "cool" and superior to heterosexuality), the next point on the agenda is decriminalizing pederasty and pedophilia. There are groups out there who want to lower the age of consent, have pedophilia removed from the DSM (the Diagnostic Statistical Manual), classify pedophilia as an immutable "sexual orientation", teach that children are sexual from birth, and claim that child sexual assault is not harmful for the victim. The same demonic spirit pushing this was behind the radical feminist movement and the homosexual activist movement. We are not dealing with mere "liberal, progressive, democrat, or left-wing politics" but the mystery of iniquity leading mankind to embrace and worship AntiChrist and end up in the lake of fire. We are not warring against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The "churches" you see embracing this abomination are not the body of Christ, but a part of Mystery Babylon the Mother of Harlots. They are a part of the apostasy prophesied of in Scripture and the weeds that Jesus said were sown by the devil. The body of Christ is built on the Rock and the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against us. We are firmly planted by a sure and steadfast Anchor, Jesus Christ. His is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His doctrine on sexuality has not changed and will never change.

What is our role in all of this? Our role is to be a light, by living holy and speaking the truth in love. There were homosexuals, bisexuals, and cross dressers in 1st century Rome. The apostles preached the Gospel to them, and some of them came to Christ and were saved and transformed into a new creation. God is no respecter of persons. He can save and transform a person with homosexual lust, just as He can save and transform a person who was an adulterer or prostitute. Homosexuality is not harder to get delivered from than other sins -- that is just a lie to keep people bound in homosexuality, doubting that God is powerful enough to change and renew their sexual desires. It's up to the individual to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and go through the process of sanctification and discipleship -- just like everyone else who comes to Christ. Just as someone who was a fornicator can return to their vomit, so can someone who practiced homosexuality. But that doesn't prove that homosexuality is "immutable" -- that proves that people don't endure and they're led away by their own lusts and propaganda that they were "born that way." The same God who sets people free from premarital sex, adultery and porn can set people free from homosexuality.

In the black "community", many children are being born out of wedlock. Fornication seems to be a "way of life." In some predominantly black churches, things seem to be no different. Many members are fornicating without repentance or conviction, very few couples are married, very few couples are courting and engaged, many are shacking up and having children out of wedlock back to back, there are downlow or open homosexuals, there are pederasts and pedophiles, there are children being sexually abused, STD's are being passed around the congregation, there are adulterers who go without correction and church discipline, sometimes the leaders are in sexual sin, and sometimes the leaders themselves are inclusionist homosexual-affirming false teachers. With this type of sexually-depraved religious climate, it is no wonder that many black professing Christians either say nothing about homosexuality or they support it.

The reason why homosexual activists want to redefine marriage, is to suppress the truth in unrighteousness and escape the conviction that traditional marriage brings. They think that if they succeed at destroying the definition of marriage, they can absolve themselves of feeling any guilt for their sin. They can change the laws of the land, but . . . they cannot change the word of God, silence the body of Christ, and escape conviction from the Holy Spirit.

Well for that dissertation I will give you an A+ yet we must remember that God is the judge, and He will bring the hidden things of darkness to light at the Judgment Seat of Christ. If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. (II Chron. 7:14)
We must pray for revival to come before the Day of the Lord comes. We are living in days of grace, and God is not slack as men count slackness, not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance.(II Peter 3:9) So let us sound the alarm so that men and women every where will repent of their sins, and turn to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I was afraid that many would shy away from speaking the Truth on this topic well I have been proven wrong....Thank God.

I am excited to see that many in the black church are beginning to once again identify their lives with Christ and His Word over political parties, religious teachings & the worlds methodologies. I have come to find that when the Church of Christ is afraid to stand for the Truth, they have effectively ceased to be the Bride of Christ but have as Paul warned Timothy "a form of godliness" 2 Timothy 3:1-7 & 2 Timothy 4:3-4. Thank you men of God for your input on this matter.
