Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

WHAT WAS HE TALKING ABOUT IN THE 19TH VERSE?
BROTHER MOREH I SEE YOU SEE THE LIGHT NOW, SO IF GOD WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF US IN A MONETARY WAY, HIS WILL BE DONE, AND MUCH AS I LOVE CABBAGE I CANNOT GIVE IT TO THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT TO PAY MY FUEL BILL, NOT IN THESE DAYS AND TIMES, AMEN!!??
See Brother Moreh, this is what I talk about when people take the bible out of context and try to make it fit what they want or say. Prosperity Preachers always talk about money and being paid but the flock suffer and can't pay a bill. I know ministers that work five days a week and then minister on Sunday and make house calls to those that need them. No where in the bible is God talking about money being paid or tithed. Jesus and Paul didn't preach that either, only today's preachers with the mansions, boats, planes and six cars. Then try to justify by saying no one takes a salary but sells books and tapes. Jesus would walk in the Temple and throw them out.
LOL!
Amen, Brother John.
Moreh

How do you know who is a Levite these days?
Moreh,
How can you know when your Pastor is a Levite? so what you are saying my tithing could have been violated. If you know the answer to this please share that with us I'm sure anyone who is tithing would love to understand what we might be doing wrong.
If a man does not work, dont let him eat. However; if a church can afford to do it then bless the man or woman of God.
if a Pastor is doing a fulltime work, let him eat. He have a Family too!
So Sister Bell, seriously, you take that one verse to mean it's ok for ministers to get paid for preaching as though it's a job? Then what is the meaning of 1Timothy 6:10? Then again in 1Timothy 6:6:12. Please don't take this as being argumentive because it isn't. We're in the Church age and these verses were talking to the church. The OT was talking to the Hebrew/Israelite/Jews and not the Church, though inspirational for us!

Ok Moreh I know I'm going to hear from you. LOL
I agree with you, the religious organizations not the church is pimping the people. The true church and true men of God are not HIRLINGS. When God sent the diciples out in 2's he cammanded them not to take anything with them. In later scripture he followed up with them and asked did they lack anything when they went out, there reply was NOTHING. The problem is these are not approved men of God who is taking and not returning anything to there flock, read closely and you will find that the only reason tithes were taking up was for the POOR. The problem is the church despise the poor and hands out a couple of boxes of food and say we are doing the will of God, what a pitty to place such simple practices asdoing the will of God. If the men of god understood that Jesus was here to established a Kingdom and not a church his true unadlterated word will draw the people, thats why he said he adds to his church daily. Not a mere few words with mixed with enticing word of man. God true church will have a return, whether its 10, 20, 30, or 100 folds, Jesus said those that give up everything and follow him will have houses , lands, mothers, sisters, and brother, abundantly in this day and time. The problem is the Pastors is not in the role of shephards but has taken the set of the King, and there the only ones who are reaping, and as the people grow in knowledge they are seeing the fruit of a currpt tree. I just pray they our heart truly open to the true word of God and begin to truly Minister (serve) his people and began to lead them to green pasture. we all should be eating from the Kings tablenot just Pastor's. may god bless you all.
First fo all this is one of those issusee you can debate about for years and still will never agree on. Secondly the Church is a business and should be operated as such. Listen to why I say that. If the church wasn't a business then why would it have to have a 501(c)(d)? Why must the church have a Tax Id #? Why must the church report its offering quaterly to the IRS? The answer is simple the church is a business. I have to agree with you to a point because you can't classify all Pastor's in the same catagory. Yes their are some Preacher's pimping the church with their $100, $75, and $50 prayer lines. Now yes a thats full-time in the ministry should be paid because he/she has devoted all their time to the ministry. Tithes and Offering does not pay the Pastor's salary so stop thinking that way. Your tithes and offering is for the up keeping of the santuary, the church grounds, the church's food pantry, and to help the community. I agree with you when you said that people are sellin in the church, and God did went into the temple and turned the tables over because they has turned the church into a marketplace but their's no reason why you can't sell whatever it is your selling outside the church. We need to ask God for divine revelation of these scriptures and and stop leaning unto our own understanding.
