Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

Oops. I never said anything about being paid here is what Paul said.
1Co 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. (emphases added).

Although I think the apostle's intent is clear if we just stick to what the text, we have:
1. An ordained institution (ordained means commanded, arranged, prescribed-- It's part of God's governmental order)
2. Paul fits the category
3. The context is compensation/remuneration in kind.

Thanks again I am learning from this exchange.
That's a straw man. I never used the word paid.
By pride I don't mean harmful pride; Yet it Pride is a detestable thing before The Most High...

In other words/ not loking for them make it plain... That is apart of the broadest sense of Exegeting something......

Scripture please............

Your proper Exegete should lead you to the same conclusion John has

Didn't clear it up...Please do brother. God bless you..........
Amen!
"Live off" was my own words but I agree with you given its negative connotations it was a rather inartful paraphrase of Paul's language. The KJV translates "live by" I believe. However it's not living off or living by the people but off/by THE GOSPEL.That is crucial in understanding what Paul and what I meant to convey.

We live by the Gospel not off the people. Thanks for your input.
Live off the Gospel as in "man does not live by bread alone but by every Word of God". I can swallow that. LOL
Lol. Yes and I do not doubt that could have been in Paul's head somewhat.
WOW Moreh what brought upon the change? LOL

Another thing I thought about this disscussion and I want to see what everyone else thinks. The pastor has been getting so much heat about getting paid for the "work", but understanding that Jesus already said that the poor we have with us all ways, but also understanding that in some churches there are millionares, making more than the pastor and yet nobody sweats them about there given and helping out the poor, and the widows. Since most of us are in agreement that its the "churches" duty to make sure they are taken care of and not just the pastors. What say ye?
I had yet to read this blatant statement come from you: Give him food pay his mortgage and call it a day....HIS NEEDS SHOULD BE MET..... thats what I was talking about.
Maybe not change, but I neveer seen you but it that way, you were just like "he need to get a job!" I could be wrong.
Moreh, you said:
So would that mean that those on this network and on TV that use the title "Apostle" are really not? Who made this requirement?

- Just because they use the title of Apostle does not mean they are one...and just because we may claim some aren't doesn't mean they aren't. Some are, and some aren't. They all need to be examined closely, and in order to do so, you need to know the requirements. No Apostle, be it from the Greco-Roman government or the Kingdom of GOD, was an Apostle unless they stood face to face before their Emperor. Ambassadors have to get their affirmation to their office directly from their leader, and their leader is the ruler of their Kingdom.
Galatians 1
1st Corinthians 9:1-2

Your Jesus was an Apostle?

- Yes, YOUR JESUS/YESHUA and mine was/is an Apostle:

Hebrews 3:1
nOsir he was not that...........

HE WAS AND IS THE YESHUA/ SON OF THE LIVING YAWEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

For on that premise was the Foundation of the CHURCH built.....Not religion/HIS CHURCH............

Not the Emperor/ rather He must have seen The Risen Savior of the World.............
