It vex my spirit everytime I here a preacher curse, I was in service lifting up the Lord and hearing the word of the Lord and all of a sudden during a sermon someone told their testimony and said the "B" word. In church service, and guess what, people was standing up clapping. I looked at the people with a sadden look on my face; hurt because we can do better.

amen, amen, and amen you said it Evang Fugett.
Or Evangelist Altha, "I become all things to all men/women that I might win some to Christ.'

Of course, you are not condoning 'cussing' rather, you are RIGHTLY recognizing that as Scripture proclaims, 'there is no pit so deep that God is NOT deeper still.'

In other words, God meets people right where they are at and sometimes He uses His spokesmen and WOMEN to reach them.

Ever heard Malachi's proclamation of exactly what 'God was going to spread on the priests' faces?' (Mal. 2:3). Sssssssst...it isn't pretty.

Oh, the prophets made some of the most 'cussing' comments ever heard. At first, I was shocked...lol
Thank you...I have not heard the video, but the whole time that I have been reading...my thought was that the word "ass" represents a donkey. We get so hooked....I don't agree with profanity just for cursing sake, but the term ass (jackass), hell, viper in themselves are not offensive to me. But, I agree with Scott...you must know the culture/community that you are in and how they will response to what is being spoken. Most profanity terms (spoken in the USA) would not come out of my mouth...because that's just not how I speak, but I have not problem liken certain life situations as if were living in "h" (for those who may be offended...LOL)
Amen! Evangelist, I agree, I just always keep in mind that the most persuasive ministry that came my way was "if you don't stop acting a damn fool like that, you are going to hell"

The unmerited favor that loved one showed, saved my life
Evang. Fugett...please clarify something for me...I am not sure if you are saying its okay to cuss or it's not okay? Whomever bought the message to you "if you don't stop.... could have very well bought that message minus the curse words. I am not attacking you so please don't take it that way...I just feel as though there is never a need for cursing by men and women who deliver the message of Christ. The Holy Spirit can bring about the same conviction without the use of curse words. I minister to people of all walks of life..i.e. drug addicts, pimps, prostitutes..homosexuals..blue collar...white collar..you name it. I have seen the Holy Spirit convict all types..yes, the way I minister to each is different, but that's because the Holy Spirit knows which direction to take you in order to reach that soul...but I have never had to resort to using profanity even for the most hardened of hearts. So are you saying that cursing is okay? Thanks for your response.
HELLO SIS LAMBERT, IF I MAY RESPOND, THE WAY SHE USED THOSE WORDS IN HER SENTENCE IS NOT PROFANITY, BECAUSE IF GOD DAMNS SOMEONE THAT MEANS THEIR GOING TO HELL, AND GOD DID SAY THAT HELL WAS MADE FOR THE DEVIL AND THE ANGELS THAT WERE CAST OUT WITH HIM. ITS THE WAY WE USE A WORD IN A SENTENCE THAT MAKES IT PROFANITY, FOR EXAMPLE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD A LITTLE BOY BROUGHT HIS BROTHER A MESSAGE FROM HIS MOM, WHO TOLD HIM TO SAY IT JUST LIKE SHE SAID, TO BRING HIS A IN THE HOUSE, IN WHICH I WAS OFFENDED BECAUSE HE IS NOT A DUNKY (WHICH IS AN ASS) BUT A CHILD, AMEN!! BUT UNTIL YOU GET STRONGER YOU WILL BE OFFENDED, AND LETS NOT OFFEND OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO ARE WEEK. GOD BLESS!! LOVE YALL!!!
Thank you! Bro. Wilcox and Sis. Johnson

and Sis. Lambert, at that time in my life, those words, and the tone used, was what got MY attention, again ones must be led by the Spirit.

Was I offended? yes, I was in sin, and that sister laid it out, I was mad, but her words sowed a seed, that going to hell messed with me! others had called me a "damn fool" before, I didn't care.

but that "going to hell" made me stop and think, and today understanding, that those in sin are damned because of their foolishness I am so glad that someone loved me enough to speak life to me without walking on eggshells
AMEN
HELLO MY BROTHER, I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL, ESPECIALLY IN THE LORD'S HOUSE, FOLKS OUGHT RESTRAIN THEMSELVES IF THEY ARE WEEK IN THAT AREA. BUT WHAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY THE CONGREGATION APPLAUDED, WHICH B WORD DID THEY SAY, BASTARD(ALL PREACHERS SHOULD KNOW WHAT THAT MEAN) OR DID THEY SAY BITCH(WHICH IS A FEMALE DOG)?
Did Jesus ever "cuss" ?? Just found this, interesting read.

No, seriously, this is one of those questions that can't have a definitive answer -- no matter what anyone says -- because none of us were alive when Jesus was around. But I'm willing to tackle this question, not as a theologian but as a close reader of the New Testament.

If we believe that Jesus was God as well as man, then he wasn't a sinner; therefore, he didn't break the third commandment (Exodus 20:7 -- "You shall not utter the name of Yahweh your God to misuse it"). So if we consider swearing to be taking God's name in vain, then no, he didn't swear.

But did he use vulgar language? I'm willing to bet that he did. He was a carpenter, after all, and he hung out with fishermen. Mark, the oldest of the gospels, reports that Jesus cursed a fig tree for being barren (Mark 11:14) and then that he drove the money-changers and pigeon-sellers out of the Temple (Mark 11:15). It seems reasonable to suppose that he spoke in language that would intimidate these people, and that may well have included words polite people considered bad language.

Mom allowed no bad language in her house, and I only remember her using a bad word once -- when she was cleaning Kathy's and my room, and pinched her hand in one of our desks. My language is not as clean as she'd like it to be, but I am always aware of my audience, and try to avoid bad language in front of children and polite company.

But it baffles me that so many people consider bad language to be a worse violation than other, much more serious offenses. I manage the e-mail that comes in to one of my clients' websites, and he gets more e-mail about the bad language in his books than about anything else. These books are thrillers, they're crime novels. They're stories of murder, mayhem, corruption, and all sorts of evildoing.

The readers don't seem to have any problem with that; what they object to is the swearing. Good grief.
Thought this was good about cussing pastors...

Things that make a Pastor cuss!

There are some things that make a pastor cuss (well, almost). For example, one thing that causes this pastor to bite his lip is consumeristic Christians. In other words, Christians who come to church because of what's in it for them. You know who they are. They use the church like a tube of toothpaste; when they've squeezed all they can out of it they just toss it in the can and move on to the next tube. They usually have a Brad Pitt level of commitment to their church. In other words, as long as their getting more out of the relationship than they're giving, they're in love. But, as soon as they feel like they're giving more than they're getting; they bolt for a new squeeze. It's no wonder marriage is in the shape it's in when so many people obviously have no clue what commitment is all about.

I've seen my share of consumeristic Christians and I've started compiling a list of words that I think describe them well...

1. Immature...Like a baby, they always cry when they don't get their way.
2.. Shallow...They have th emotional and spiritual depth of Paris Hilton.
3. Needy...They dominate your time & if you can't take their call, they bolt.
4. Self Absorbed...Life always revolves around them.
5. Wimp...They don't have a lot of spiritual backbone.

This list is by no means exhaustive. I'm sure I'll come up with a new word the next time I cross paths with a consumerstic Christian. If you think of a word I didn't, let me know and I'll add it to the list.

My passion is to radically impact this culture for the Kingdom of God and that's no job for wimpy consumers. It's going to take Christ follower's with a deep, mature, strong & selfless faith to represent God in this world. We're looking for a few good men & women to help us literally change the world. If you're up for the job, jump on board. But, if you're a consumer, you might want stay on the porch with the children & leave the heavy lifting to those with some strength.
How can a preacher spit out hot and cold water from the same mouth?
