Many false prophets simply point people to themselves. Their covetousness manifests itself in a desire for power, influence, control, prestige, or importance—the antithesis of being poor in spirit, meek, pure in heart, and mourning over their ungodly weaknesses. The true prophet does not draw attention to himself but to God. If a prophet or teacher spends a great deal of time talking about himself, He is a false prophet, Jesus said HE must be lifted up.

Explain to me Exactly how one can be trained to be a prophet. I am not talking about being a minister or sitting under Priest, that is a whole other situation. Many of us have been trained by our Bishops, Pastors and such but no one can be taught to be a Prophet.

Prophecy is a gift just like speaking in tongues. When it happens, it happens. God speaks the message or warning and the Prophet conveys it. All of these blanket whisperings, vain babblings and re-quoting of words already written in the scriptures is not prophecy. You really have men & women just talking or speaking of those things people want to hear just like brother Mark said. What ever happened to the prophecies of warning concerning ones iniquities? Huh?
Lastly, since when does one of God's prophet's need ordination from man. You may need ordination to work within some of these religious organizations but I promise you that God doesn't need that to speak through a person. What you are saying is no different than telling me I need to be ordained before I can speak in tongues, heal the sick, cast out demons, or open blinded eyes. All of these are gifts of the SPIRIT JUST LIKE PROPHECY.

People have chosen prophecy because it is the easiest way to ELEVATE SELF WITHOUT ANY REAL DISPLAY OF POWER.
Trevor You Said: All ministers are in need of training. Simply "talking to GOD" is not enough, for there are many aspects that have to be considered.

WHAT??? Based on your above statement God is not enough by himself, he needs fallible man to make sure it's done right. You make God sound incompetent. Again we are not speaking of training a minister we are talking about Prophets. They do not need training from Man period. This is a God thing (Holy Spirit). Maybe this is why we have so many false prophets because they were not called of God but were taught by some Preacha (preacher)

1 John 2:27 KJV

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
If what you are saying applies to the Prophet, then why not the Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, Bishop, Apostle, and all the others? John did not speak of that concerning the ministry offices, he spoke of the Gospel and the coming of anti-christ. How about reading the WHOLE scripture an stop lying on that man, huh?

As far as your first statement, GOD is all we need for anything, but by HIS own decree, HE uses HIS servants faithfully. Why would HE use Evangelists then to spread the Gospel? "Why not just do it yourself LORD, cause I aint perfect?" is what you're saying here! Your idea is flawed and incomplete, without GOD's sanction, but mine comes from areas like what the Prophets of old have spoken:

"Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7) this includes sending out ministers with the laying on of hands and the gift of prophecy. Prophets ARE ministers.
A Prophet may be a minister but not all ministers are prophets. There is a distinct difference. For the record anyone who has any office in the 5-fold ministry must be call and anointed by God, but since we were talking about False Prophets that is what I am referencing. You can't Pastor a Church unless you have been anointed to do so.

Yes, I know the scripture says how can they preach unless there is a preacher BUT IT ALSO SAYS. how can they preach unless they are sent. The big question is who is sending these people, God or Man. Again, I say, it doesn't matter who ordains you to any office if God has not chosen & sent you. Are you called of God or man? That is the big question?

God does use man to teach but by his own words also, he doesn't NEED man to teach.

1 John 2:27 KJV

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

I know this. You are going in circles here. In fact, you repeated my own words from before!

"Yes, I know the scripture says how can they preach unless there is a preacher BUT IT ALSO SAYS. how can they preach unless they are sent. The big question is who is sending these people, God or Man. This is ALSO my point! As for who is sending these people, the PROPER, GOD ordained order is BOTH GOD and man. GOD uses HIS servant in the ordination process. You bypass the fact/truth that ALL NT ministers were validated by both GOD and man used by GOD. That is NOT a changed fact either.

"God does use man to teach but by his own words also, he doesn't NEED man to teach.

1 John 2:27 KJV

I never said that HE needs us! You can't find a place where I said that! He doesn't NEED them at all, but HE ordained for them to be used. And as I said before, if you are going to use that verse, then use it in its proper context. This was NOT about ministry offices, but about the anti-christ coming and the Gospel message. Plus, you contradict the very office of the Teacher (Ephesians 4:11), and Paul's claim to the office. Is Paul a liar now?
The sad thing is this mess in in the House of God! I do believe in the 5-fold Ministry Gifts...however they are for the edification of THE BODY and NOT for self-edification, In the Last Days we will see more and more self-proclaimed prophets and prophetess to lead us away from sound doctrine. (I Tim. 4:1-4)
Amen Brother,
I too believe in the 5-fold Ministry, however, we seem to have a huge influx of those calling themselves, Prophets or Prophetess and God hasn't said anything to them. The ongoing work of the apostles and prophets should be manifested by the Holy Spirit speaking through and teaching us God's Word. Many consider picking a lump of scriptures and giving a private interpretation as being a prophecy.

Prophecy is a prediction of something to come or foretelling some future event, so I don't understand why and how this can be taught by man. The only thing man can teach you (which is not required by God) is maybe how to listen and be quiet long enough to hear God. But even that is not necessary. The voice of God will be heard by his sheep.
And, sometimes we forget that there is a difference between the "gift" of prophesy (which my late wife had) and the office of prophet (which she did not hold).
The Office of the Prophet still involves Revelation from God concerning what to teach & convey to his people. It is not merely an office for anyone to appropriate without a Calling from God. Many have taken this office by self appointment or appointment by man and God hasn't revealed anything to them.
The reason why you don't understand E.W. is because you are looking at it from a limited scope. Its time for a paradigm shift into a GOD's eye-view of things, instead of the surface stuff.

FACT: There is a difference between having the gift of Prophecy and working/walking in the office of the Prophet. One can have a gift of Prophecy or give a prophetic word and yet not walk in the office.
FACT: Prophecy is NOT just telling the future, but for edification, exhortation, and comfort. It is literally the council of GOD on any and all matters.
FACT: A Prophet did not just run around screaming "Repent!", for many of the Prophets of the OT and NT gave their Prophetic words at times that the people didn't need to here such a Word.
FACT: The office of the Prophet requires training, and almost all Prophets received such.

EW, you contradict yourself in a MAJOR way. You said:

"People have chosen prophecy because it is the easiest way to ELEVATE SELF WITHOUT ANY REAL DISPLAY OF POWER."

For you or anyone to say that you need no training to be a Prophet is to actually back up your point that people elevate themselves illegitimately. You make the office of the Prophet into a "Holy Parrot", or "Heaven's version of UPS".

All that I say about the Prophetic AND MORE can be proven by multiple scripture references, both OT and NT, upon request by anyone, be it openly or in private.
I know what the office of Prophet, involves & I know the difference between the two. Even those holding the office of a Prophet need divine Revelation from God. You simply cannot just be self appointed, appointed by man or ordained into it. If you are not called by God then God is not speaking prophetically through you.

It doesn't matter who ordains you if God hasn't ordained or ANOINTED YOU for the office. Many calling themselves this or taking the office of Prophet are doing so out of a need to MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK BIG & IMPORTANT. Whenever, I come across a true Prophet my spirit bares witness to it. Likewise false prophets can be easily spotted as well. Other than the fact that they are not speaking through divine revelation they are usually very flamboyant, arrogant and Self promoting. They usually, don't possess a humble spirit and are glory seekers. God does not share his glory with anyone.
