Terrific comment. How true Sharinda how true. Such bad self-righteous judgment by the so-called 'church' is the reason many don't want to be a believer in Christ.

The whole world grieved over Michael and every preacher should have spoken on the positive value of Michael Jackson's existance. Black humanity has been scourged the world over but God raised up a Michael to capitivate the world with his talent and captivate it he did. Our daily prayers should have been with him. Yes, it would have alleviated much of his afflictions.

However, factions of the narrow-minded so-called church walk in fear, instead of the 'love' and 'liberty' of Christ. Fear has torment that makes such types judgmental, self-righteous and foolish. They shame Christ while thinking they are being a blessing. Religiosity is a real satanic killer whereas allowing the Holy Spirit's love to open ones eyest to all kinds of beauty that God raises up.

Michael was such a 'beautiful' gift. Yes, like all he sinned in some ways but overall he was a 'great light' sent from God in order to bless humanity. Michael did just that. Afflictions, errors, trials and all, he let his light so shine before men and so cause many to Glorify God for creating such magnificence of which the world enjoyed. Michael is now with his Creator and the world is better place because he existed. Would that that would be said by the Almighty about all of us believers.
im sorry. here is where I have to disagree. The bible is right, and everything in it. Some things there in are to be taken literal. Especially when a story is being told. The story being told is literal and not parable. It is telling what actually happened. If the bible isnt to be taken literal, then where does our future lye?
Are you talking about he rich man and Lazarus?
Elder,

It is not a literal story. If you take into consideration some of the meanings of the words within the Allegory, you will see tha it is not literal. Also, verse 31 shows us the meaning of the whole story. Elder, all of the bible is not literal. If that is true, then expect to see talking sheep in the book of revelation.
Might I ad. The bible can be understood by the believer. Those that try to make it fit there opinion, and not its intent should be worried.
Mrs. Levine, I read the entirety of your post. It was magnificent and rightly sums up the entire matter with regard to Michael. He is with our Savior, he was a gifted God-send and so are you. Thanks for sharing.
It's time for those of us who preach the Gospel to begin to go back to the basics and tell the people the unadulterated truth concerning varies spiritual concepts. I read your question and must say that I am in complete agreement with what you stated concerning the story oa Lazarus and the rich man.

We used to sing a song whose lyrics said " You know the Bible is right and somebody is wrong". Heaven and Hell are prepared places for those who have prepared to go to either. We used to preach "holiness or hell" and its high time that we went back to basics. The old saints told me that " there is a heaven and a hell and just as sure as fatback is greasy you won't miss them both when you leave here.

Jesus often told parables (stories which illistrated certain lessons) but those of us from the old school were taught that whenever He used a proper name in parable it was not just a story but it was FACT. A name is used here and the picture is not a happy one for the man who failed to help Lazarus during his lifetime. In Hell being in torment he lifted up his eyes and saw Lazarus and asked for his help which was quicly denied. He begged God to send someone back to warn his brothers about the horrors that await the ungodly and God tells him that they have the prophets to listen to. Hosea told us to " Prepare to meet your God." We are told that the wages of sin is death and yet people ignore these tenants and are dying to the point that the Bible tell us that Hell has enlarged itself. Prosperity is good but what would it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul. Will we too tear down our barns and build greater only to be called a FOOL by God?

My heart goes out to Michael and countless others like him who have no hope. We can live without air, food or water for extended periods of time - but a man without hope will quicly die. That's why the spirti of addiction needs to be rebuked from our nation. God said ask me a hard thing and yet we are still playing church. How much more blood will be required at our hands for not telling the whole truth?

Where were Jesse Jackson and Al Sharptin when Michael needed someone to step in and offer him the only remedy that could have helped him - CHRIST JESUS? Mike turned to a Rabbi, Eastern philosophers, and if it can be believed even to Voodo witch doctors for assistence. What did the Bible say " blessed is the man who walks not in the COUNCIL of the ungodly (Rabbi excluded) . People have to realize that you have to be careful whom you allow to speak into your life. Mike listened to the wrong advice and had "enablers" around him. I've learned that some people don't belong on the front row of your life but should be relegated to the balcony or put out of the theater altogether. What fellowship has light with darkness?

It's high time that we get back to basics and preach Christ and Him crucified. Jesus said YOU MSUT BE BORN AGAIN. He went on to tell another that I am the way the truth and the life NO MAN WILL COME TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME. The apostle tells us that there is no other name other than the name of Jesus which a man.woman can be saved.

It's high time that we stop being politically correct and become spirtitually correct. PREACH THE WORD!

Overeseer Joseph Jackson
the above statement is very much true. Thanks to Overseer Joseph Jackson. Man you preachin now. Basic bible principals is what we need again. Holiness or hell. Thats good preachin. People have perverted the gospel story, but Im glad someone else feels like I do. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ liveth in me. All because of the gospel story.

Also I had never thought about Al Sharpton, or Jessie Jacksons role in Michael Jacksons life. His life could have probably been saved with a few words from his close friends. Not saying his death is their fault, but he could have died differently(in Christ).

Thanks again to Overseer!
In light of the discussion regarding the parable Jesus told about the "Rich man and Lazarus , the beggar", this is something to think about.

Jesus in hell - Where did He go while His body was in the tomb?

Some believe that while Jesus' body was in the tomb, His spirit was in hell. Scripture does not support that position when it is taken in context and we look at the meaning of the word "hell." In the Old Testament, the place of the dead or the place of departed souls was called "Sheol." It was to this place that all souls of the dead went to await resurrection.

In the New Testament, we find the story of Lazarus and the rich man who both died and went to Hades (Luke 16:19-31). The King James translates the Greek word "hades" as hell but most other translations use the Greek word. Hades had two separated parts. Those who died in faith believing in God's promise waited for the resurrection in Abraham's Bosom. [There was the resurrection when Jesus was resurrected and those in Abraham's bossom were resurrected too !

**********And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. (Matt 27).]*******************

Those who died spiritually separated from God wait in torment for the resurrection unto death, or eternal separation from God. The rich man was on the torment side and Lazarus was in Abraham's Bosom, which was called "paradise" by the LORD Jesus Christ when He addressed the thief who found faith the day Jesus was crucified (Luke 23:42-43).

We are not given all of the details about where Jesus was during the time between His burial and resurrection morning, but we can say that Jesus did not descend into hell, which is the final abode of the lost. The word "Hades and Sheol" do not mean hell and so we cannot place the Spirit of Jesus in hell while His body was in the tomb. We do know that Jesus did not see the corruption that man goes through in the grave (Psalm 16:10-11) even through Jesus said that He would spend three days and nights in the "heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:40).

We know that Jesus did go and "preach unto the spirits in prison" (1 Peter 3:19). The use of the word "spirits" and not souls in this passage would seem to indicate that these were not the unsaved. Rather, it would seem that these are not human at all. The word used by Peter in this passage that is translated "prison" means a cage, a guarding, ward, or imprisonment. Scripture tell us that unclean spirits are "chained" in prison. "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment" (2 Peter 2:4). The word translated "hell" here is not the Greek word "hades" but is the Greek word "tartarus" meaning abyss or the lowest regions. This could very well be the "gulf" that was fixed between the place of torment and Abraham's Bosom (Luke 16:26).

Therefore this preaching of Jesus in hell was probably a message of victory over Satan and those spirits held prisoner in chains, not in hell itself where souls wait, but in the abyss beneath. This truth is reinforced by a passage in Ephesians that also speaks about Christ leading captivity captive. "Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things" (Ephesians 4:8-10). Leading captivity captive seems to refer to Jesus taking all those that waited in Paradise to heaven to be with Him. The descending into the "lower parts" then refers to Jesus' mission of declaring victory to the prisoners in the abyss.

Although we cannot be completely dogmatic about all of the events of the three days, we do know that Jesus body being in hell is not a viable Biblical concept.
We can say that Jesus' body was recognizable by the women that came to the tomb so the facial disfiguration that occurred during His scourging must have gone and Jesus told the women not to touch Him because He had not yet "ascended" to the Father (John 20:17).

However, that same day at evening Jesus appeared in the midst of the disciples and invited Thomas to not only touch Him but to reach into His side (John 20:27).

In this life we look through a glass darkly (1 Corinthians 13:12) and all of the answers to the questions that arise may not satisfy us completely, but what a comfort to know that one day we shall know as we are known (1 Corinthians 13:12). The thief on the cross was told by Jesus that He would be with Him in Paradise. Jesus took the Bosom of Abraham to paradise and this is where believers go to wait on the Great Resurrection.

As to whether MJ went there, We do not know all of the facts about His life. Only Jesus knows. I guess we will have to wait until we get where Jesus is to find out, Right?

Brenice
and it's just like they use to tell me, "when I get to heaven I will be surprised at who I see, and some will be surprised to see me"
Brenice,

Where was Yeshuah go while His body was still in the tomb? That is a great question. My answer is that He did not go anywhere. He was dead for 3 days and 3 nights. Genesis 2:7 gives us the formula. The formula for the creation of a life is Dust(body) + Breath(spirit) = Soul(living creature). Most Christians believe that man "has" a soul, but scriptures show us that man "is" is a soul.

The formula for the death of a person is Dust(body) - Breath(spirit) = death(absence of spirit). When a person dies, no matter who they are, their body returns to the dust, and their spirit returns to Elohim. They do not go afloat into heaven, or the mythical burning hell. They are dead, and they await the final resurrection at the last day.

The formulas:

The living formula - Dust(body) + Breath(spirit) = Soul(living creature)

The non-living formula - Dust(body) - Breath(spirit) = death(absence of spirit)
I say he went into the hands of the father! "Father into thy hands I commend my spirit"
