Black Theology...

Any theology that does not preach, teach and do the work of the ministry as taught by Jesus the Christ is not true theology...not a true teaching...not of God. The national Black community, for years now, have been taught and encouraged to learn and embrace theologies that do not speak to the Black community.  On a deeper level, the Black community has been led to believe that any reference to our experiencing a Godly true freedom is communistic or anti-American. And so the average Black church does not encourage that Black theology be taught in the Black community.

I had been presented an opportunity once, a while back, to go to the local ministerium to receive permission to use one of the many churches in the community to present a presentation on Black history called Return to Glory/The Powerful Stirring of the Black Man. The co-authors of the book and video authorized me to do the presentation if given the opportunity. But there was a problem...the ministerium, which was made up of all of the churches in the community, one of which was a White Lutheran church, whose pastor also was president of the ministerium told me that my presentation was too Black for this community. Such a funny response, especially when 90 % of this community is Black, there's only (at the time) one White church. I gave every one of those pastors a video of their own to watch so that they could view it on their own. What started out as a venture to empower the people in my community by offering them a healthy dose of our history turned into a shot down missle. Too Black! Can you imagine telling a predominantly Black community that any teaching of Black history is too Black for them?

But, you see, this is the mentality of a White theology in the Black community...my desire is to teach Black theology of liberation...theirs is to maintain their theology of oppression. From the very mouth of God, we are taught that God's people suffer for the lack of knowledge...right? Well explain why it is that every other ethnic group can teach their people all things about their people but when Black folk show a desire to do the sameit's considered anti-American?

I recall the big stink about President Obama's attending a church that taught embraced and taught the Black Value System...and, by the way, did it with great success...I remember looking that lifestyle teaching up for the first time the first thing I saw was that it called for a committment to God, A committment to the Black community and a committement to the Black family. Right from the start this attracted me to this system of values...but, its been labeled demonic and racist...and the call from the other schools of thought say that we need to  turn our eyes away from such teachings and continue to look to the status quo. Well let me tell you right now, that status quo does not work for us! It doen't work because there is nothing in those schools of thought that calls for Black liberation in any way shape or form.

The thinking here is that we continue sticking our hand from underneath the table for the crumbs that "trickle down" to the floor from the forks of our oppressors, shut up and be happy that they're giving us anything at all.

We need to go back (Sankofa) to our past, learn who we were, all that we are capable of...go back so that we can return to our former glory. It is my prayer that God, in His infinite wisdom allows me and others the space and time to promote a theology of liberation to my people.

Just wanted to let y9ou all know who I am and what is on my mind and in my spirit...thank you for your time.
