The 3D animated family comedy catapults movie goers to planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy, by-the-rules brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA. When BASA's no-nonsense chief Lena (Jessica Alba) informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet, Scorch rejects Gary's warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a fiendish trap set by the evil Shanker (James Gandolfini), it's up to scrawny, risk-adverse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his beloved wife Kira (Sarah Jessica Parker) and their adventure hungry son Kip.
“Escape From Planet Earth,” opening Friday, is a little more age-appropriate for her 4-year-old daughter, Honor Warren, than say, “Machete Kills” or “Sin City.”
“Rarely do I get an opportunity to make a movie that my kids could see,” the 31-year-old bombshell told the Daily News. “When it comes to me doing movies, she’ll come on the set and pretty much think I sit in a trailer and get different hair and makeup done. She has no idea.
“So it’s nice to show her this is what I do.”
Even if she’s barely recognizable in her debut as a villain — a scheming, big-headed blue alien who runs a space agency that must rescue its prized astronaut, who has been captured on “the Dark Planet,” aka Earth.
“She did ask me, though, after she saw it, ‘Mommy, was it hot when you wore that mask?’ ” says Alba, laughing. “Was it hot? I was like, ‘Oh, my God, she doesn’t know the difference between live action and animation.

“It’s like Santa or the tooth fairy — as long as you believe it, I’m going to go with it.”
Alba joined one of the biggest casts in the known universe for the PG-rated film — one that also includes Sofia Vergara, William Shatner, Brendan Fraser, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jane Lynch of “Glee.”
