God has many names, but Jesus only one. When we pray do we call only Jesus Name to make our petition known without calling the name of God or his other names. Is it wrong or appropriate to do this where God is the father of Jesus Christ or we're relegating God to elevate Jesus higher or equating the two on the same level?

John 14:6

(Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

It is important to mention God's potion as the Father and also as the Son, Jesus. We can call's God's name in the prayer, there is no problem with that, we just have to make sure to mention Jesus as well-to give credit to Him as the Creator and to give credit as the One who came down in flesh to die for our sins.

Thanks for your response for shedding light into my curiosity, but the question still remain and maybe when others respond it might clear it up.

Jesus said if you have known me...you would have known the father, because He did His Father's commandments.  He also say if we keep His commandments, we are also keeping the Fathers commandments.

Luke 9:23  Jesus said to them all...If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

John 15:5 I am the Vine ye are the branches, He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringth forth much fruit, for without me ye can do nothing.

John 8:31-32  And Jesus said to those jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my words, then ye are my diciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free

John 15:7  If ye abide in my me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you

Now, just these few scriptures allow me to know that God the Father gave Jesus commandment to do His will, which was to reconcile man back to God, because of the falling away by way of disobedience.  Jesus tells us through His teachings that if we do what He say, then we are doing what the Father say.  They are abiding in one another as we are to abide in Jesus.  We are to forsake EVERYTHING according to the Word of God and stay focused on what God said through Jesus.  We all know that God cannot dwell in sin, so He sent His only Son to do a work which NO man could have done, but God gave Jesus the power to do so and likewise, if we keep Jesus' commandments and follow His teachings we also have that power.

So, yes, God has many names and Jesus only one, because there was only one son.  God has many names, but what names are you speaking of?  Like Jehovahjirah-the PROVIDER and etals?  Or Allah, Buddah and so forth?  God's first commandment is to have NO OTHER GODs before Him, but man and his disobedience has formed so many Gods.  IDOLARTY is a form of Gods that man has purposed on himself, because man form Gods to their likings.  Not the true God that chasetises those whom He loves, man make Gods that care about them at all times and even in their mess.  God has never been the type of God that allowed His creation to do their thing, but when disobedience came, wrath came, So by one man's disobedience all men DIE.  And by one man's death all men have the opportunity to LIVE.  But disobedience still remains and through idolarty men have created themselves their own graven images, in their minds and their hearts and have made themselves many Gods.  We have so many different religions and people worshipping their graven images, but they refuse to follow after the ONE AND ONLY TRUE LIVING GOD and His redeming remedy for our disobedience...to FOLLOW the ONE and ONLY Son who if you believe, you believe God and if you reject Him, you reject God.  We must stay focused on what God did, He provided as a sacrafice which NO man could ever understand, but only if you except Him and make Him the Center of our life, He will direct us to ALL truth, and the truth will make us free from our graven images, which we may think God endorses.  May God continue to guide us in His Word and we can LIVE His Word and obtain ALL the promises, if we OBEY.

In Love, Sis. Denise
