ROSEMOUNT, Minn. — Army Cpl. Benjamin Kopp, a Ranger, died last month after being wounded in Afghanistan, but a part of the Minnesota soldier lives on.

His family agreed to donate his organs, and now a 57-year-old Chicago woman feels privileged to have received the Rosemount soldier’s heart.

Judy Meikle says she got a call about Kopp’s death two weeks ago from the soldier’s cousin, who’s her close friend. His heart was a perfect match for Meikle.

She says she now has the heart of an Army Ranger who’s a bona fide hero.
Kopp served two tours in Iraq before his tour in Afghanistan as a member of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment based in Fort Benning, Ga. He will be buried Friday at Arlington National Cemetery.

The 21-year-old died July 18 after being wounded in battle.

What are your views on organ transplants, are there scriptures in reference to it ?

Great question, this is one i've dealt with on a personal level,i truly believe that since back in Jesus time, this kind of medical advancements wasn't known, but as i sit here answering this question,i would hope that any part of me that is needed upon my death, that could be given to someone who could use it,do it.I feel if you believe do it,if you don't ,don't.This scripture is not directly related to this but my spirit moves me with this one.
Philippians4;9-THOSE THINGS,WHICH YE HAVE BOTH LEARNED,AND RECEIVED,AND HEARD,AND SEEN IN ME,DO: AND THE GOD OF PEACE SHALL BE WITH YOU!
I like that scripture "and seen in me" LOVE
We all know that one of HIS request,is be like the one that is in ME,THE FATHER.Knowing HE made the blind see, healed the lepers, and raised the dead, that could be the only way i know to give life, besides sharing HIS word!
interesting question... what comes to my spirit is all souls belong to God, and we are to lay down our lives.... I agree that we didnt have these medical inventions in bible times. I'm actually pretty happy to be living in these times, medically speaking. (I've been to the Surgical Museum here and trust me how they "practiced" especially surgeries was horrifically barbaric.

In our day, I do believe God gives Drs wisdom, and that there are compassionate Drs... but when its all said and done they only PRACTICE medicine. God gives life.

This begs a question in another context. If (God forbid) you or a loved one needed a vital organ transplant to live, would you want them to have it?
