Salvation is it eternal regardless of the circumstances or not come on lets get everyone’s opinion

But what is your take on what would have happened if the prodigal son or anyone who had received salvation backslides by rejecting the Father, His Son, the Holy Ghost and totally turned away from the faith and DIED without having repented or had the opportunity to return to the fold. Would that person be heading for hell or heaven? This is a conversation that came up with a couple of my work colleague when we were in an after discussion on Luke 15:11-32 so I would be interested in having a discussion and receiving everyone's point of view.

Amen to that Pastor Melvin,The Word pf God says'Heaven is for those who are pure hearted?
We should consider the circumstances.

The church has moved away from teaching PERSONAL...PERSONAL, can we understand PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God.  Meaning....IT"S BETWEEN YOU AND GOD. Not man's rules and regulations. There will be more people in heaven that the church has placed in hell, and more people in hell than the church has placed in heaven because of how they looked the part on earth.

WELL SPOKEN!!!

If Jesus indeed went to preach to the captives in hades, then I want to believe that Judas who repented after betraying Jesus must have obeyed him there.

Moreover, if salvation is based on faith and not works, then its the faith that Judas had in Jesus that made him so sorry for betraying him that he returned the money and comitted suicide. The suicide was a "work" and not faith. I guess Judas was restored when he was repented of betraying Jesus

He commited suicide, the Bible is teaching us not fulfill the needs of flesh which he exactly did
If you let down God like that it might take everything out of you. The fact is Jesus put him on blast out the gate but didn't call his names...ONE OF YOU AMONG ME...Can you imagine being exposed and still not doing the right thing. He couldn't live with himself.

The preacher Teacher I guess Judas was thinking of himself as usual he felt as if he was condemned so he took matters into his own hands that is not true repentance. Repentance means feeling sorrow for what you have done and hving a desire to right the wrong

Preach what? The message of salvation is only for the living not the dead. Unfortunately, out of ignorant of scriptural people say what they don't know. Christ never went to hades to preach the gospel. Study so that you could rightly divide. May the Lord guide the humble.

Actually Brother John, faith in Jesus had nothing to do with Judas returning the money nor did he truly repented of his sins rather it was fear of his punishment that drove him to return the money.  'Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, WHEN HE SAW THAT HE WAS CONDEMNED'.  And if one had repented and being restored why then the need to kill one's self?

Is it by relationship only......The Bible says St. John 3:3-5; Except a man is born again he can not see the kingdom of God." Verse 5: "Except a man is born of water and Spirit he can not enter into the kingdom of God." Now, what I see it there can not be relationship with first there be follow through of this great imparative directive of Jesus "You must be Born Again" please consider these scriptures also.
