The Black Church was once such a pillar in the Black Community.The People respected the Black Church and its Pastors and the Church was such an assest to the people. What has caused the change?

Its very sad but I can use the local church in my area for a reason why it does not have respect

The Pastor got a member pregnant, then got in front of the church saying he refused to marry her

he then, when scared of being fired, used church money to fund his new business and marriaed another woman.

The church today is basically turn into a day club,not a nightclub.Because now so many peple are facing sobriety for the first time,that they are following the sometimey christian,who just goes to church on Sundays,don't drink or smoke which is good but have no true spiritual foundation.People are going to church to met somebody,like the church is e-harmony or something.The pastors are afraid to preach true Repentance,because thier pews are shrinking,trying to keep up with the cathedral on the hill.So they have them ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth[2Tim3:7] There is no community involement,no seeds being planted in the parents so the chidren are just,content with not getting in trouble staying in the house ,video playing all day,with no appreciation of how these things have been made AVAILIBLE TO THEM!We need to grab hold of these people let them know the truth about the once a week saint,let them know Repentance is the way,CONFESS OUR FAULTS ONE TO ANOTHER AND PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER,THAT YE MAY BE HEALED SPIRITUALLY,AND UNDERSTAND,THE EFFECTUAL FERVANT PRAYER OF A RIGHTEGEOUS MAN AVAILETH MUCH!

Minister Agnew, your comments are so so true. We operate differently as a Church. We as the Senior Pastor try to operate the Church according to the true Word of God. This generation does not like that, but God is well pleased.

What has caused the change is crooked, thieves, pimps and manipulators we call leaders, people living one way inside the church and another way outside the church, the "do as I say not as I do" doctrine, the elitist doctrine, and finally the "do as you want to do and yet be saved" doctrine.
The church needs to get back (and that is so sad to say) to teaching, preaching and living the Word.
We need MEN who stand up and preach truth, woman who are more concerned with praying (as the BIBLE says) and nurturing the souls of those that are coming in and men and women working together for the kingdom and STOP all these manish women trying to lord and pastor over somebody which is biblically OUT OF ORDER!!!
This is what has caused the change.
