- Anthony Toney is President and CEO of the UpTop Group a Birmingham, Alabama-based company as well as the Commissioner of Americas Basketball International.
He has been characterized by many as expedient and enthusiastic, Anthony has an exemplary background and proven track-record in the areas of management, marketing, sales, promotion, public relations and program administration. He is a Birmingham native and a 1987 graduate of Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, where he majored in Mass Communications with minors in Business Marketing and Management and African American History.
After graduating, Anthony began work as Assistant Manager for USA Training Academy where he was responsible for training sales representatives to recruit candidates for truck driving school. In 1994, he joined Dempsey and Steed, PC as a sports agent and talent recruiter for professional athletes, representing clients for corporate sponsorships, and negotiating contracts for American athletes participating in the European basketball leagues. He also represented and managed NFL and NBA players.
In 1996, Anthony started a sports agency known as UpTop Pro Services, Inc. Through this agency, Anthony managed all aspects of marketing and promotional services for professional athletes and oversaw various fundraising initiatives including corporate sponsorship for a European Basketball Camp. In later years, UpTop Pro Services, Inc. expanded its operations to form The UpTop Group, Inc.
In addition to his work with The UpTop Group, Inc., Anthony served from 1999-2002 as General Manager of Birmingham's WEAB-TV 68 where he coordinated station marketing, programming and oversaw administrative operations.
Anthony is very committed in the areas of community outreach and political cultivation. Elder Anthony Toney serves as the project director for the East Birmingham Church of God in Christ and has been instrumental in establishing community service components of their ministry. He has also served as an advisor to several state and local political candidates in the Birmingham area.
Anthony is a former member of the NFL Player's Union and is a current member of Who's Who Among International Entrepreneurs. - Website:
