KILL THE WEEDS
"The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.” Matthew 13: 24-25 (NIV)
You have been keeping a positive attitude. You are renewing your mind daily in God’s word. You are doing all you know to do to keep yourself motivated and activated to do the right thing and just when you think you’ve got this thing licked, somebody comes along and tries to deposit their negative thoughts in your head. Thoughts of failure; thoughts of defeat; thoughts of death!!!
Negative thoughts are like weeds—good for nothing and if left unchecked, will destroy all the good around them. So why do we entertain the weeds? Sometimes it is because of relationship. We don’t want to hurt the feelings of the one delivering the negative thoughts because have a relationship with them. So, we listen and accept the lie. REPEAT AFTER ME: A negative thought is a weed to be destroyed!!! Understand, if you receive it, you will repeat it.
Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Don’t give the enemy such an easy victory. Don’t let him talk you into cursing yourself. As the songwriter said, “Don’t, don’t let the devil ride. ‘Cause if you let him ride, he’ll want to drive, don’t let him ride!!!
