As I was studying my Sunday school lesson because I was scheduled to teach Sunday morning. The lesson really spoke to me and I want to share what God has given me to share with his body of believers.
The scripture lesson came from Matthew 25:14-30. Jesus told the parable about servants who had been entrusted with their master’s resources or talents while the master was away. The lesson of this parable I believe is that Jesus requires his followers’ to be faithful stewards over all resources that God has made available to us.

We as Christians can be very self- absorbed, and claim we have no time in our busy schedules to help or aid others or many simply don’t want to make the effort to help. We fail to recognize that ALL we have been given- Time, talent, material possessions, spiritual gifts, relationships, opportunities and so on- have been given to us by God to use to further HIS kingdom and for HIS glory. Many people never give themselves to the Lord or use the talents for HIS glory. And if you don’t USE IT, you will LOSE IT.

When we do not use the wonderful gifts that the Lord has bestowed upon us and hoard those gifts, we fail to be a blessing to a dying world which needs to see how wonderful God is. And when we fail or are afraid to do what God has told us or to be a blessing to others, we hinder the advancement of HIS kingdom. Which means those that have been assigned to us will never be touched because of our selfishness. This hit home to me, because I believe that God always starts with the vessel, FIRST.

The parable of the talents reminded and challenged me to become a more faithful steward of ALL God has given me and I pray as you go back and read it, you will also be challenged. It will call on us to take the risk of investing all we have and all we are to be the light of the world and to further advance HIS kingdom for HIS glory.

Take stock of your own stewardship and of your resources, financial and otherwise TODAY. God has entrusted those gifts to US. How will God reward us- will we be like the first 2 servants. The master stated in the parable, “thou good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the lord”. Or will we be like the last servant, who hid his talent or resource. And have the master say to us, “thou wicked and slothful servant.” Stop using excuses and let’s not squandered the opportunity to make a DIFFERENCE in the world.

Instead, let us be good, faithful servants- ready for the day when we stand before Jesus Christ and share in our Master’s joy. Take the risk of faith! It requires a closer relationship and an ongoing fellowship with Christ. Be a blessing to someone else! When you faithfully use what God has given to you for others, he in turns gives back to YOU! Those who don’t give their lives to the Lord and invest their talents to gain an increase for HIM will LOSE even what they have.

USE the gifts and talents afforded to you by our FATHER. Don’t LOSE the gifts and talents afforded to you by our FATHER.

Let’s be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
