I know it is hard enough to swallow that Christmas is worship of a Pagan God, and Easter is worship of Astre, and Estre, Pagan Godesses. Well. January 1st as the New year is also the worship of another God, and it is Janus the Roman God of the New beginning. Here is a link to read all about this Roman Goddess:

Deuteronomy 16:1-3
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there.
Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.
Exodus 12:1-2
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Leviticus 23:5-6
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
Ezekiel 45:21
In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.
Matthew 26:1-2
And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
John 13:1-3
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
John 19:30-31
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
The Lord's Year is much bigger than man's year. There is a plan within the Lord's Year. According to God's Lunar Calendar, the 1st Month of Abib is in late March early April. It makes more sense. The trees are just growing leaves, the animals are coming back, everything is new. The makes more sense then in the dead of winter. Anyway This year the New Year begins at Sundown March 26,2010.
I hope we can get some meaningful discussion on this subject.
