I BELIEVE THAT TODAY'S YOUTH ALONG WITH NEEDING DIRECTION AND ATTENTIONS, THEY LACK MOTIVATION. IT IS EVIDENT IN THE MEDIA AND WE NEED TO OFFER MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM TO FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG, ORGANIZATIONS AND CHURCHES TODAY ARE COMING TOGETHER IN THESE DAYS FOR THIS PURPOSE, WITH VERY LITTLE BEING DONE AND GOVERNMENT SUPPORT IS NOWHERE IN VIEW,
HOW DO YOU THINK THAT THE CHURCH NEEDS TO STAND UP AND TAKE BACK ITS COMMUNITY? AFTER ALL GOD DID GIVE US LAND TO POSSES AND IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE ENEMY HAS HELD GROUND LONG ENOUGH, TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS TOPIC AND WHAT DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD PLAY AS FAR AS LEADERSHIP GOES AND STRUCTURING?

Blessing I agree,I teach youth of all ages how to minister in dance through the word of God,as a part of the school we require members complete biblical homework, know scriptures and study to show themselves, approved ,,,the structure of the program is discipline and teaching, and I find myself with the challenges of the various personality that are not use to structure, however i press my way! I am on assignment, although we need funding to continue implementing various thing we do with the youth we operate on faith.People will sponsor other organization for some reason ,they will not support programs that will keep our chidren focused and off the streets we need to continue to implement program that are led with Gods guidance to direct and guide our children in the right path! Yes a encounter with God!
I totally agree with what everyone is saying. Now that we have made the comments, how are we going to do this on a local and global level. If you have a strong Youth Ministry, because you practice what you just made a comment on, how are you going to reach the masses outside your "walls." At the church I'm a member of the main issue with youth is Commitment and Consistency. This is a result of the things you guys talked about and becuase they don't see the "2 C's" in any other older saint. What do you suggest? Before we change the hurts and minds of the youth, we must first change ours.

Look I'm a young person myself. And before I was a minister I always wondered " Why are churches still living the same" If churches wanted to grab the attention of young people than they need to change the flow of the service. Young people grow up on entertainment. Having young people come to church and listening to a pastor preach is traditional. Sometimes young Pastors don't preach on the young people level, simply because there is more grown people in the church. So if churches start creating a youth worship service than more young people would join church. If there's nothing for the young people, than how can we grab the young people. That's why on spring break I'm throwing a conference called Spring For Christ. I'm looking for speakers, and entertainers. And I believe in If God sent his son to the cross for us without anybody having to pay him money to do it, than why do we as people in leadership charge people in order for us to do ministry. Getting young people saved should be a passion not a job that you need to get paid for. If you're interested please let me know. Contact my ministry office at 269-425-5875 and mention spring for Christ

I WANT TO APPRECIATE OU FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL INSIGHT INTO WHAT IS HAPPENING.THIS IS EXACTLY THE POINT FROM WHICH I DERIVED MY PASSION FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND LIBRATION.AFRIGOLD YOUTH NETWORK (AYN)
(Volunteers for Africa regeneration)

AFRIGOLD YOUTH NETWORK (AYN) is a platform for youths and youth groups who are devoted to the restoration of Nigeria in particular and Africa at large.
Afrigold Youth Network (AYN) was established in the year 2005 to explore ways of empowering and increasing the capacity of the youth, network relevant groups, share information and secure resources to support youth development initiatives, advocating and preparing the youth to participate in nation building, put youth and pertinent issues on national agenda, thereby causing a positive renaissance in the ongoing rebranding crusade in Nigeria and Africa at large. We believe with all altruism that any developmental agenda that does not clearly include the youth is bound to fail.

AYN focuses on youth empowerment and social development with the cardinal objective to emancipate the youth from ‘mental slavery’ as well as inspiring and empowering them towards the restoration of Nigeria and Africa as first world continent.
We sensitize the African youth on the need to discover their true identity, develop and adopt structures aimed at redirecting African youth in the right direction towards sustaining a greater posterity and also create network and interactive opportunities for youths/groups with similar vision.
I being a youth minister find that what our youth stands in need of is discipline to know how to answer those that have authority over them and those who have rule over them. I have come to find with my years in the ministry that they don't give respect to older ones but i believe in spare the rod and spoil the child. I also agree that they lack motivation parents now or days just shove their children off and pay them no attention then when the child is pregnant of gets into trouble then the parents are devastated at what has happened so what am i trying to say parents need to get more involved with their children and ask questions and find out things because really you have to watch at all times and when they mess up give them the direction that they so need and deserve so until we can get back to really cracking down on children then we will get a more better children of and for the society today. I just have to call it like i see it and say that when you are in a church that church is supposed to help as well they are supposed to have shutins for not only the older people but also for the younger in the old days the old mothers put the children down on the morning bench and would not let them come up until they felt something but all those mothers knew was that when they come back up something was going to have changed in that child. Now or days most teens turn over on sunday morning and say they are not going to church cause they are tired and they have done nothing to be tired about and some parents just turn their head and say alright and don't think anything about it and they go on no get them up and make them come to the house of the lord and the devil has had our young kids out there way to long and it is now time to get them back!!!
i believ that the youth of today must be disciple into the origanal plan of God so that us as youth can change the order in the church /so that Gods church can become one /i also believe that the heart of the fathers must return to the heart of the sons /and that is the seasoned heart beat of the lord to rise up sons

Good morning ALL, PTL!
It seems that this topic might be old but still a very great question. I would like to shed some of my ideas as God began to deal with me. I am a the Youth Leader at my church and I also came from the "world" (not born into church). So I came up against a lot of things being in the "world"! I believe from my own experiences and my journey back to Christ allowed me to see the gap in the church for the young people. 1-We need to be transparent as much as we can. 2-We need to offer Youth Service maybe every 5th Sunday. 3-We need as Youth Leaders (etc...) to find the NEED of the young people. 4-What are their gifts and talents in Christ Jesus? How do we help them bring those out and now use them for honoring and praising God! 5-Find out there goals and through Christ Jesus help them accomplish them. 6-Have a mentoring program...i.e teach them how to preach, teach, minister, play the organ, drums, usher...etc....(WE NEED TO TEACH ONE TO REACH ONE)!!!! 7-BE AVAILABLE! 8-DON'T TRY TO CHANGE THEM...That's GOD's job! Lead them, teach them and let God do the rest. 8-Try to take an interest of the things that they may be doing outside of church as well...i.e. going to their sports games, their plays etc...LET THEM KNOW and FEEL that you truly care for them! And last: DON'T TELL THEM WHAT NOT TO DO AND DON'T REPLACE THAT OPTION WITH AN ALTERNATIVE! Meaning: Don't tell them not to go to the club but your church is not providing anything to substitute that like Praise Parties once a month etc...
These are all the things that through Christ Jesus' direction I have been doing with the youth in my church and it is slowly catching on and moving in the right direction! Thank you Jesus! We started young peoples Bible study in Jan. 2010 with 7 young people, last Monday we had 20 plus and I was so excited. We are working on Kingdom Building one soul at a time!
We make it fun and we teach it to their level and experiences that they live with now. But they are getting it and applying it thank you Jesus. We are not there yet don't get me wrong but we are on the right path and I thank God for direction and a creative mind! I pray this blesses somebody in Jesus name! Amen! God bless! :-) Shona Matthews-Simmons!
Kudos to you sweetie for your interest in our youth! Continue to push for the future of our kids!! Marie

Great question and I agree with Minister Hill and Dominique but in a very different kind of way. A old quote says that "Art reflects people and sometime people reflect ART."
Sometimes what we see in the media is reflecting what is going on in society BUT sometimes the way we live in society is reflecting what we see in Art, or TV or Radio or even these type of Blogs. Sometimes people mimic what they see and it becomes how they live and sometimes the other way around. I believe the youth of today are JUST THAT, youth of Today! You can't reach them using the same tools but you can reach them using the same methods. I remember when people cared about PEOPLE. When mother and big sisters saw young girls in the street and encouraged them and told them how much they believed in them. Believed in their future and hugged them, YES PERFECT STRANGERs!
It is not what can the church do? The question is WHAT IS KHADINE BECKFORD doing? Not to change the world, just to change one life, one girl that she does NOT know already? What is Khadine doing to change her neighbors? and neighbor's neighbor?

Christ came that He might save some (that's what the Word says) and through His desire to reconnect to humanity, the world was changed through the people He touched.

Want to change the world Khadine?...Touch someone!
