Ok, Lets pose a question. Today you went to the health physician, and to your shock you were told you had three months to live –now what? What would you do if this was your situation? Would you quit your job, and go places you have never been? Would you focus on family and get every moment in that you could? Would you make sure things were right with your Creator? I guess the biggest question would be- would you do anything any different than you do now?

Most of us in the world procrastinate if we are not careful. We stay in the mind frame that we still have tomorrow. The thing is, God does not promise us tomorrow. I have heard the question asked “would you want to know when you were going to die?” Those that say yes do so because then they would know to do the things they had not done yet, and spend time with family. My question is “why not do them now”; live each day like tomorrow may not come. Do not take a single moment for granted. Stop living in the future with words such as, when we get this paid off we were going to do that! Maybe next summer we’ll get to that! If God speaks to you about doing something, work towards it now.

Having nice things is a good part of live, but if we are not careful my friends, they in themselves become our lives. They force us to give even a greater part of our lives and our time to making that nasty word” money”. Money is like a tool, if handled correctly it can do good things, if not, it can hurt us. The want for money, without discipline can destroy us. Our quest to have better and bigger toys ultimately takes every moment of our days away. Buying that new fancy truck now means required overtime and less time with the kids or spouse, but its all for the good, right? Before you answer that remember, your dyeing in three months. Would that change anything? In Matthew 6:19 we read -Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

We are taught without the pretty things in our lives we are lesser people. To a devilish society that may appear true, but in God’s eyes, it is the furthest thing from the truth. Yes God wants good things for us, but not at the expense of sacrificing time with him, or our families. In Mark 8:36 we read- For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? I would say that fifty percent or more of mankind’s time is spent making the money to pay for the material items in our lives. Think about that, over half our life, away from the things we say we love the most.

In short what I am trying to express is not to take any day for granted. Don’t wait till tomorrow to get things right. Don’t be afraid to take a day off work; we work to live, not live to work. Don’t be afraid to make that phone call you know you need to make. Don’t be afraid to say “I love you” Today is here, make all of it, all you can. Teach your children the important things, Treat your neighbors as they are friends, don’t forsake a simple smile, and offer a hand up to a troubled soul.
