ARE WE ADOPTED INTO JUDAISM OR CHRISTIANITY OR BOTH?

[HOPE - Psalm 43:5]

I WANTED TO LOOK AT THE CONCEPT OF ADOPTION AND GET YOUR OPINION ON A FEW QUESTIONS:

1. HOW IS THIS ACCOMPLISHED BY CHRIST?
2. WHY WAS IT NECESSARY?
3. WHO WAS ADOPTED?
4. ARE THERE DIFFERENT ADOPTIONS EXPRESSED IN SCRIPTURE?
5. WHAT ARE ADOPTED INTO: JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY, BOTH, NEITHER?

Feel free to answer all questions or just one question or as many as you desire. I only ask that you share which question(s) you are answering.

Below are a few scriptures strictly pulled out by searching the word adoption. Of course there is more to each of these scriptures and I welcome your sharing even more than these:

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Romans 9:4
Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Galatians 4:5
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Ephesians 1:5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will...

Key phrase being "out of". That doesnt' mean Shem, Abraham, Isaac were Israelites does it? It's a question ok. Isaac may have know he was a Hebrew but not an Israelite since Jacob didn't know it until God changed his name to Israel and his sons became the Israelites. I may be wrong, it won't be the first time. Just like I didn't think the word Hebrew was a nationality but meant "one from beyond" - meaning the other side of the Euphrates River.

The Isrelites lost there right to being Gods chosen people because of their continued disobedience and lack of acceptance of Christ. . The right then passed to us the gentiles but the jews who have accepted Christ as Savior are still a part of Gods people.

Are you Jehovah Witness? Please believe I'm not trying to be funny or anything. God doesn't change and is the same always. They did not loose their rights and are still His chosen people but so are we who believe in Christ Jesus. That is the same thing taught to Jehovah Witnesses, among other false doctrines. God didn't kick them to the curve He opened His blessings to everyone. There are neither Jew nor Gentile when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and be in Him and He in you.

Israel never lost their right of being God's chosen people. They was, and always will be his people. Salvation came to gentile to make Israel jealous, and gentiles are grafted into the olive tree.

I'm not sure I agree with that Sis.... Jesus expressed this in the Parable of the Prodigal Son.....

It's true meaning is not really hidden. Jews -- runaway Jews..... Hellinistic Jews..... both sons... obedient and disobedient remained sons.... so even the disobedient ones.... are still sons with the right of "sonship"

From a Gentile came the non-Gentile nation to whicn Gentiles could be grafted back into. And there remains enmity between the two

I'm trying to figure that out Moreh....bcuz that is what was said here and i wanted to be sure that I clarify what was said...here

Ok lets start at the beginning:

(I'll skip verses 1 - 3 because it begins with Adam and pre-flood sons so let's start with Noah and his boys)

1 Chronicles 1:4,17-28, 34

The Sons Of Noah: Shem, Ham and Japheth...

The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber.

Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah and Jobab.

All these were sons of Joktan. Shem, Arphaxad, Shelah, Eber, Peleg, Reu, Serug, Nahor, Terah and Abram (that is, Abraham).

The sons of Abraham: Isaac and Ishmael.

Verse 34 - ...the sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel (Jacob)

Ok back up a few books to Genesis 11:26-28

And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.


Ok I'll stop here and get ready to go to work. I'll pick up my studies by researching the land of Ur.

I also want to answer those questions you posted as well.

1. HOW IS THIS ACCOMPLISHED BY CHRIST?

Christ came to do what the law could not do, and that is to save us. By Christ doing that, we are saved by grace(because even though we sin against the law, we have an advocate to intercede), and we are saved by faith(our belief, trust im God, and love, obedience to God).

2. WHY WAS IT NECESSARY?

It is neccessary because of what Galatians 3:10 says: For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”


3. WHO WAS ADOPTED?

Gentiles were ingrafted into the Olive tree(Romans 11)

4. ARE THERE DIFFERENT ADOPTIONS EXPRESSED IN SCRIPTURE?

Only one(Romans 11)

5. WHAT ARE ADOPTED INTO: JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY, BOTH, NEITHER?

True believers are adopted in the practice of Messianic Judaism----the beliefs and practices of the early apostolic church.
