Of course. Love is choice. To have no choice means that we are robots with no free will. Joshua, on his own will, choose to keep God's Torah, while everyone else in the camp wanted to act stupid. God destroyed 3,000 men that day because they choose not to serve him via Torah, but Joshua, Moses, and many other chose to fear God, and serve him.
BELOVED JAMES I LOVE YOU? THANK YOU FOR UR ANSWER, MORE

I believe that God gave us the freedom of choosing who we will serve because He wants to show us that it was not in His will for us to be slaves and to be in bondage. God shows us that He loves us and trusts us to make the right decisions, providing that His spirit is in us. God does not need to keep us on " lock," He has people who are willing to stay at his feet.
God said in His word choose ye this day whom you will serve. Joshua 24:15 He loves us so much that He allows us to choose if we want to serve Him or the devil.
God created us in His own image, so without choice we are not in His image. Without choice, our creativity is limited. When we have no choice we are prisoners. God would rather have willing obedience than gruding obedience. God wants us to follow Him because we want to not because we have to.
We are more apt to respond positively to activities or choices when it is our own chosing rather than being forced. For example a lot of teenagers don't like to go to church. Even though parents demand that they go, when they choose to go on their own (which is not necessarily right) they have a better attitude about attneding.
I believe God gives us freedom of choice because he desires us to serve Him because we love Him and not because we are forced too.
