Read John 1:1-7)
From The first five verses of John's gospel prologue flow three evidences of the deity of the incarnate Word, Jesus the Christ: His preexistence (John 1:1-2). His creative power (John 1:3), and His self-existence (John 1:4-5)

1.) "In the beginning" In Jesus preexistence (before he became a man) He has always been God. Jesus is the Word that was spoken in the Old testament. When you read in the OT The Word of God you are reading about Jesus. (Col. 1:16; Heb. 1:2).

2.) "The Word was with God" There are three persons that make up God. They The father the son and the Holy spirit. Jesus is the second person of the Godhead. He left his throne in heaven and became a man. (John 17:5; Phil. 2:7-8).

3.) "The Word was God" Jesus is God in a physical body.( 2John verse 7-11; Gal. 1:7-9)

4.) "All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being." This talks about the creative power of the Word (Jesus), (John 1:3). Jesus created everything (Col. 1:16; Heb. 1:2; Gen. 1:1; Ps. 102:25

5.) The self-existence of the Word of God (John 1:4-5). "In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."
A.) Jesus is life that we need. Spiritual life.
B.) Jesus brought us the true light because He is the true light. Spiritual light for salvation.
C.) Jesus light shines in a dark world. The darkness is Satan's kingdom which is the world's system. The way the world is ran. Satan (the darkness) comprehended (refused to accept Christ). Just like lost sinners do today (Rom. 1:18-21).

6.) How do people or the world respond to the idea or fact that God came down to earth in a human body (Jesus). John 1:6-13 will explain.)

7.) Verse 6-8 says "There came a man sent from God, whose name was John (The baptist). He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.)
A.) John the baptist was sent from God
B.) John the baptist was a witness. Like a witness in a court room. John was a witness that Jesus is the Christ (The anointed One) the Light, the Savior of the World. So that all my believe through Him (Jesus) to be saved.
C.) John the baptist was not the Christ
D.) John the baptist was a witness to the Light. The light of salvation which is in Jesus.
