Romans 1:21-25: "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."

Why do people create a feel-good God for themselves? Well, it's because they want their selfish desires. Yes, there are people who claim to be saved, loving the Lord, and go to church, yet say that they have their own beliefs. They'll think that God is wrong because He doesn't match up to their beliefs and livestyles, especially concerning homosexuality, abortion, and qualifications for entering heaven. Also, they'll think that God Almighty is taking away their happiness because He's putting boundaries on lifestyle and enjoyment of life. The issue is that people are finding happiness in the wrong places.

It's very sad that there are those who be in church who claim to be Christians, but are selfish hedonists. That's the reason why they are creating a feel-good and politically correct God. The excuse for not following God's word is that this is not the biblical times and the bible is so-called "played out". Just because the bible has "Amen" on the end of Revelation doesn't mean it's played out. The Bible doesn't change. That's why folks get upset about the Bible denouncing the chasing after strange flesh. So sad that preachers on the pulpit preach feel-good sermons, especially on thinking positive thoughts, to prevent offenses and increase church membership. also, there are those who practice Cafeteria Christianity because they don't like certain scriptures telling them how to live. Cafeteria Christianity is not true Christianity. Either Jesus Christ is the Lord of All or he's not the Lord at all. You can't pick and choose which scriptures to discard and which scriptures to follow.

To create a feel-good and politically correct god for yourself is idolatry. Exodus 20:5 states that the Lord our God is a Jealous God, which means that it is an insult to God to put anything above Him. What the Lord meant when he said that he's a Jealous God is that He can give you and do anything that nobody and nothing can do and give. That's why it's time for you to stop finding love, purpose, healing, satisfaction, and happiness in the wrong places. Remember that drugs, booze, sex, Joker Joe, Silly Suzie, food, porno, and other things can't satisfy you for the long term. They lead to destruction of your soul. Don't let the enjoyment of your life write the checks that your soul cannot cash.

To those who would reject the bible as the living word of God and create a feel-good God to fulfill your selfish needs, you can't be a Christian and a selfish hedonist at the same time. Living in sin does not give you freedom and excitement that lasts forever. It puts you into slavery. To find true freedom, you have to be a Christian Hedonist, meaning that you find true and lasting pleasure in worshipping God and walking in His will. If you seek after righteousness, you shall be full. So, to you who claim to be Christians, yet practice selfish hedonism, cut it out, repent, and ask Jesus to free you from bondage and forgive you of your sins.

I hope this message is a blessing to you. If you enjoy this, give me an amen.

By the way, let's tune up the song "I know the Bible is Right and Somebody's Wrong!!".

Looking for AMENS is another form of feeling-good!!! there is no such thing as hedonism and the llikes when we walk with God.
Amen doc, you on it man. I was gonna say the samething! It's funny cause religion can be a false God. No religion is a false God. It has prevented so many people from walking with God and even more from walking closely with God in true fellowship! Oh but when you know the TRUTH, or atl least begin to get acclimated with it It will begin to set you free!!!

I ain't even answer your question, yet my bad. Why do we create our own feel good God's? I believe it's to justify our true gods, ourselves, our own wants desires, and needs. We live for ourselves dwelling only on what is in our immediate intrests at the negation of everyone and everything else. And then we project our own predispositions and proclivities heavenwards, and those of us in the church pick and choose scriptures to do this. We don't want to deal with the facts which are that we ain't God and we will die, and we are weak. So we try to hoard all we can and get what we can to feel strong and smart and secure. Any tension provides a threat to our created and false sense of security.
Sir, the question as the title of a message is a rhetorical question.
oh, you weren't realy looking for replies? Just Amens? my bad
I meant it's a question that would help people to ponder. I do welcome replies and insights.
See what I mean!!
I think we'ere all guilty of projecting ourselves into the cosmos and calling that projection Godat some time in this Christian race. We either all overtly do it or subscribe to this notion inadvertantly. Very few of us take the time to foster a real working relationship with God. It only comes through wrestling with tough issues, and the subsequent prayer and divine disclosure as a result of this tall task. It is only once we cast down our our presupositions we can finally meet the Lord for ourselves.
That sounds real good.......and above you said;

"Either Jesus Christ is the Lord of All or he's not the Lord at all. You can't pick and choose which scriptures to discard and which scriptures to follow."

So I hope you do not mind answering a question.

Do you believe we must keep God's laws to receive the promise of eternal life?

Before answering, let's read a question asked of Jesus and then let's read Jesus' reply;

Matt.19
[16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Now let's read what Jesus said would get this person eternal life;

[17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
[18] He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[19] Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Simple question, simple answer!

Notice Jesus said nothing about grace or faith, not that those things are not needed also, but He said for sure doing the following will give eternal life;

"Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

Notice also Jesus did not mention ALL of God's laws, but does that mean we are to disguard them? Of course not! Because Jesus also said; "

Luke 4
[4] And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Jesus also said this, found in the last book of the bible;

Rev.22
[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Like you said above, "Either Jesus Christ is the Lord of All or he's not the Lord at all.".

Jesus trumps EVERYBODY.....even the great Paul!!!

And let's not forget your own words, words I'm sure you live by;

"You can't pick and choose which scriptures to discard and which scriptures to follow."

So again, do you think keeping God's laws is needed to receive eternal life?

.
" Why do people create a feel-good god for themselves? "

Because they have to serve SOMETHING
and whats better than serving the God of the Bible ----> create one in your OWN image.
He understands your weeknesses and he wont require anything from than what you want to give.
"He understands your weeknesses and he wont require anything from than what you want to give." REALLY??????

What if I don't want to tithe? What if I don't want to 'not steal'? Or not 'lie', not honour parents, not covet? What if I WANTED to do those things? Would your god not require me to do those things?

You have really got this "serving God" thing all wrong!!

God tells US how he is to be worshiped!

He dictates HIS laws!

God and God alone tells us what is right and wrong!

God DEMANDS that He is served a certain way!

God requires a lot from us!

The ONLY choice we have is whether we are going to do it His way or ours!
Calm down, Eccl - read it again.

I am saying that what's better than serving the real God - its to make up ones ourselves and serve that one. NOT the real One. Our own god. A god we fashion to look like us and be as weak and wicked as us - so that we can still say that we love God but it will be our own god.
My bad. Didn't read it that way the first time. Now I understand what you were trying to say. And I agree!

Why serve the real God when we can make up our own!

You have calmed me! :):)
