QUESTION: Are the Old Testatment laws/requirements applicable to ministry leaders, lay leaders, or even the average Believer today?

POSTING REQUEST: When leaving your comments and responses, please ONLY post the scripture location not the ENTIRE text. We all have bibles and if we don't have them with us we can look it up online.

Example: only type John 3:16 not the TEXT of John 3:16

Thank you for participating and also adhering to my posting request.

Jeremiah 31:31,33 The Lord speaks of making a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah - this no doubt would include all leaders as well since he did not specifically call out any particular people within the nation of Israel and Judah.

Matthew 5:17 Jesus fulfilled the law of Moses, which was also referred to as the Mosaic Law (old covenant) and created a new covenant.

Luke 22:20 The old covenant was written in stone; the new covenant will be written upon our hearts, made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His own blood to atone for the sins of the world (that means all people). Now that we are under the new covenant, we are not under the penalty of the law.
Thank you for your comment Pat.

Question: was there anything that was done away in the old covenant that seems repeated, restated, or in resemblance to what is in the new covenant?
Sis. Tracy,

Question: was there anything that was done away in the old covenant that seems repeated, restated, or in resemblance to what is in the new covenant?

Jesus became our blood sacrifice on the Cross, which replaced the animal sacrifice. The animal sacrifice only covered our sins, Jesus blood not only covered our sins but paid the penalty for our sins which was death.

The moral laws (Ten Commandments) still apply in the Two Great Commandments given by Jesus:

Matthew 22:37-40
1. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This covers the first 4 commandments dealing with our relationship to God. To love the Lord as stated here is to literally obey the first 4 commandments.

2. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. This covers the remaining 6 commandments which deals with our relationship to mankind. We are to literally obey these 6 commandments. We would not want anyone to kill us or covet our spouse, personal properties, etc.
Are there any other commandments besides the top 10? If so, were they done away with or condensed in an all inclusive version like we see in Matt 22:37-40??
Sis. Tracy,

Exodus 20 contains the Ten Commandments plus 600+ Laws. According to Matt. 22:37-40, on those two commandments given by Jesus hang all the law and the prophets.

With respect to your request to not print or type the entire scriptures, I would think that you would not want us to print or type out all 600+ commandments.
Chaplain,

Its impossible love Yahuah & fellow man without doing the commandments. I mean thats just common sense. How is it possible to love Yah, and not keep the 7th day Sabbath set apart?
LOL... nah... wouldn't want all of those copied here... thanks for complying and I'm grateful for your answers too!
Only the commandments are applicable to this day. The animal sacrifice and Levitical Priesthood has been done away with due to the death and resurrection of Jesus. I can show you. Do you believe that Jesus is the Messiah?
Good Morning Hezekiah,

Yes I believe that Jesus is the Messiah in fulfillment of the scriptures that prophesied about Him.

His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14);
His birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2);
His sacrificial death (Isaiah 53:5);
His crucifixion (Psalm 22:14-18);
His bodily resurrection (Psalm 16:10);
HIs being - “... the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:31)
Is this talking about animal Sacrifice?

Leviticus 3:1 And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.
that is the point of the discussion.....
Ok. You said that you believe in the Messiah, and belive he is Jesus, right. That verse is about animal sacrifice right, well here is the Messiah, and you tell me what he died for.

Daniel 9:26-27 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate
