IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

-The Prophet Ezekiel includes usury in a list of “abominable things,” along with rape, murder, robbery and idolatry. Ezekiel 18:19-13.

-Jews were forbidden to lend at interest to one another. Exodus 22:25; Deuteronomy 23:19-20, Leviticus 25:35-37.

Do you think Christians (spiritual Jews) are forbidden to lend to one another at interest?

Was this OT law one of the things that was kept or removed since the Cross of our Saviour? or in other words since we are no longer under the law.

We have to wrestle with Christ's teaching:

And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. [Luke 6:34,35]

The principle here seems to stand in opposition with usury. In fact, this would restrict us from practicing usury in our dealings with the unbeliever, I think. It calls the Christian to a higher standard than did the Mosaic law (which said Jews could exact usury from Gentiles).
We have to also understand what "usury" is, it's "compound interest", which arises when interest is added to the principal, and from that moment on, the interest that has been added also itself earns interest.

and also the key phrase in the scripture is of whom ye hope to receive when we extend help we should not hope to get it back, therefore do not lend what YOU need.
