Do Your Best

But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (ONe who will intercede for us) with the Father -- [It is] Jesus Christ...And He [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours alone but also for [the sins of] the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2

You are responsible to people, but God has not made you responsible for their joy. You may have children, or siblings, or a spouse God has given you to love and nurture who seem uninterested in your testimony. Some people just refuse to be happy, so don't let them steal your joy.

You cannot fix anyone, and your shouldn't take the blame for everything that goes wrong in someone else's life. Obviously, you cannot make everybody you know believe in Jesus. But you can get up every day an do your best, and then trust God for the rest.

My aunt was 23 years old lying in a hospital bed dying from alcohol poisoning and severe cirrhosis of the liver. My sister and I were witnessing to her about the Lord. We asked her to let us pray for her and to give her life to Jesus. She said to us, I don't need your prayers. She died a few days later. It burdened both me and my sister for years but we both realized that we tried and she rejected. Since then my burden has been lifted.

Yeah, she wasn't giving us conditions, my aunt probably felt that she would pull through this and that our asking to pray for her was cursing her to death. It kind of reminds me of another family member who told her children not to get an insurance policy on her because that would be jinxing her. She eventually died and they didn't have insurance.

As Christians we want to see everyone saved by the grace of God. We can deliver the invitation but it ultimately their decision to accept. All we can do continue to pray for them and don't give up on them, just allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.
